Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Jeanne was angry and aggrieved. She glared at Gideon and ran to Edith, who was preparing
for the competition in front. “Mommy!”
Edith was tying her hair into a high ponytail. Hearing Jeanne’s crying voice, she immediately squatted down and asked softly, “What’s wrong, Jeanne?”
Jeanne moved her glossy lips with red eyes, hesitant to speak.
Edith felt something was wrong and followed Jeanne’s gaze.
The scene stupefied her instantly.
Edith looked at the little girl whose hand was held by Gideon in disbelief.
‘Gideon…actually has a child!’ she screamed inwardly.
Gideon also wore a gloomy face not far away. He pressed his lips, anger brewing in his eyes.
Edith didn’t understand what he was angry about.
It was like she didn’t understand the reason why she felt upset.
Just as Edith restrained herself and wanted to look away, she saw Danika, wearing a floral dress, walking up to Gideon and taking his arm affectionately.
Edith thought, ‘So, that’s why the little girl’s surname is Peterson. No wonder I felt that the Rolls-Royce looked familiar!’
She held Jeanne’s hand and unconsciously squeezed it tightly.
“Mommy…it hurts…”
Jeanne’s voice brought Edith back to her senses. She looked at Jeanne and said. apologetically, “I’m so sorry. I was thinking about something and didn’t notice…”
“Ms. Jones.” Seeing Edith, Danika pulled Gideon and Joyce over to greet her.
Edith adjusted her expression and looked at Danika with a slight coldness in her eyes,
eyes, but she didn’t show it in front of the child. She only nodded and greeted them simply.
Gideon was startled and turned to look at Danika as if he didn’t expect them to actually know each other.
Danika introduced Edith to Gideon. “Giddy, this is the mother of Joyce’s classmate I told you about last time. She is good-looking, isn’t she?”
Edith didn’t show any emotion on her face but felt a sting in her heart.
She thought, ‘Giddy? Did she take him away from me by calling him sweetly?”
Edith felt she was lucky. Otherwise, she would never be able to escape from the marriage to which she devoted all her life.
She lowered her eyes slightly and was about to leave. Suddenly, someone put a hand on her shoulder, and a familiar voice sounded.
“Edie, why don’t you introduce them to me?”
Edith turned around in astonishment and met a pair of gentle and smiling eyes.
Chapter 10
The man wore gold-framed glasses, his good-looking facial features revealing a sense of maturity and gentleness.
“Shane, why are you here?” Edith was really surprised.
“I came to Jeanne’s sports meeting,” Shane said. He squatted down slightly and held Jeanne in his arms. “Jeanne, are you happy?”
Seeing Shane, Jeanne had completely forgotten that Gideon was someone else’s father. She beamed with joy and shouted with smiling eyes in a sweet voice, “Yes!”
While Edith smiled, she glanced at Gideon and saw his grim expression simmering with
rage.
His face was so dark, as if a storm was brewing.
“They are the parents of Jeanne’s classmate.” Edith pretended not to see Gideon’s expression and looked away. While introducing them to Shane Myers, she paused and finally said Gideon was Joyce’s parent.
In fact, she really felt uncomfortable.
After all, Gideon was also Jeanne’s father.
Ruben and Jeanne had lived without their father since they were little and had been gossiped about by their classmates many times.
Edith felt distressed for the kids and hated Gideon even more.
Danika looked at Shane and smiled, “Ruben looks a lot like you.”
Edith paused and subconsciously frowned.
She thought, “There must be something wrong with her eyes. Ruben looks exactly like Gideon. The only difference is that Ruben wears glasses. How could she feel Ruben looks like Shane?’
Edith said nothing and pulled Shane away with Jeanne in his arms.
Gideon stared at Edith’s back.
She was tall and slender, making her a good match with Shane next to her.
Gideon was irritated, and his face became extremely gloomy.
He thought, “That little girl and Joyce are at the same age. Did Edith hook up with that man right after she left me?!”
Gideon gritted his teeth and felt the inexplicable anger welling up crazily in his heart.
“Giddy, what’s wrong?” Danika pulled him and asked softly.
Joyce, who had been silent all this time, also held his hand. “Daddy, I want to get the cute sticker today!”
Gideon concealed the coldness in his eyes and said to Joyce, “No problem. I’ll help you get the sticker.”
