Chapter 25
I woke up that morning on time and hurried to get ready to go. I took a shower, which was very much needed because I hadn’t had a shower in three weeks, After I finished, I put on a black tank top, light blue jeans, and black boots. As I walked out of the bathroom, Harrison was right there to the left of the door and threw the leather jacket from yesterday at me.
“You are going to need this.” He said as I caught it. I put it on.
“I’m not leaving just yet. I still need to eat.” He handed me a piece of toast in a paper towel right after a finished that sentence. “Are you rushing me?” I asked half knowing the answer.
“Yes, have you looked at the time? You really need to leave.” He replied quickly as he grabbed my hand. I ate quickly as he dragged me down the stairs. “Alright now, your luggage has already made its way there. I have already taken care of everything. All you have to do is make your little butt get on that plane.” He grabbed a black saddle bag and handed it to me as we continued walking towards the garage. “Everything you need is in this bag, including your ticket.” He pulled me in for a hug and then opened the door to the garage and Jason was on his bike waiting for me.” Jason is taking you. Now if you need me in Nevada, you remember that spell to get a hold of me?” He was rushing me but I could also tell part of him didn’t want to let me go.
“Yes, I remember. Don’t worry.” I hugged him and kissed his cheek. “I will be home before you know it.” I hopped on the bike and held on to Jason.
He quickly took off. We didn’t say anything, but I felt comfort being so close to him and holding on to him. It took us an hour to get there. We said our goodbyes. I promised him I would be back and told him that I loved him. It was very difficult to leave him again. I didn’t want to let him go in our last hug until I came back. And that kiss we had, it was so bitter-sweet, but I had to go.
Once I got through security, it wasn’t long until I boarded the plane. Time really flew by, no pun intended. Harrison packed me a few books to keep me busy. Before I knew it, I was off the plane and I had arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada. I saw a sign with my name on it, well my name that Harrison gave me, Jay McClayn Anderson. I walked over to the woman holding the sign. She looked old enough to be my mother. She had long brown hair and gray eyes.
“Hi, I’m Jay.” I said as she quickly dropped the sign and hugged me.
“I’m so glad to finally meet you!” I was shocked by this, the emotion and excitement just to see me.
“I see a lot of your mother in you.” she said as she pulled away. She noticed I was confused.
“Did Harrison not tell you? I’m your mother’s twin or was her twin. I’m your Aunt Madison, Nikki’s mother.” I stood there quiet for a moment to grasp things. Harrison must have done a lot of research to find them.
“You’re my mother’s twin?” I asked stupidly.
“Yes, I’m your mother’s twin. Our group, well tribe left after your mother died. Did your father not tell you anything?” I stood there blankly for a moment.
“No?” I replied questioningly. She didn’t like my response.
“I will explain things to you in time. First things first, let’s get your luggage and head home.” She grabbed my hand and my new adventure began.
Once we got my luggage we drove into the desert North of Las Vegas. It took us a while but we eventually drove into a town with actual building. They looked old and western but they were buildings. Madison explained to me that if anyone came across them, which rarely happened, they would all shift into cactuses, and desert animals to make people think they were having a mirage. Once we got there I saw my Uncle Mason, who had short white hair and dark gray eyes. He took my suitcase and bag up to the guest bedroom where I was to be staying.
“So why do you guys live in the desert?” I asked Madison confused.
“Easier to keep our community unknown. Besides what most people don’t know is that there is a spot out here with water nearby. It’s enough to support us, plus we can always tap into area 51′s water supply.” She laughed.
“So it isn’t a myth?” I asked.
“Nope and we love screwing with their heads.” she replied. “Oh.” I said.
After talking a little bit longer about the community and the closeness they all had, we went inside. The inside looked as old as the outside, unless you looked close enough. If you looked close enough you could see how high tech it really was. Madison showed me to the guest bedroom up stair and I began to unpack and got settled in.
