The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 81

Chapter 81

The waitress and another woman on a date could not help but glance at the handsome Leonard. Everyone wondered which lucky woman could be going on a date with the refined and elegant gentleman.

The crowd’s gaze followed the handsome man until he stopped at Table 9. The crowd only saw how Lisa looked when they looked across from Leonard.

“Hmm, she looked weird.”

“Did her plastic surgery go wrong?”

Lisa did not care about the looks and remarks she received. Her face lit up when she saw Leonard, quickly inviting him to sit.

This considerate version of Lisa made Leonard feel somewhat uncomfortable.

He remembered the old Lisa, who did not care whether a person was wealthy or poor. Now, her almond-shaped eyes sparkled.

“You seem quite enthusiastic today,” Leonard hinted.

“Is that so?” Lisa was taken aback but remained calm and smiled.

“Maybe it’s because you helped us yesterday. I’m starting to think you’re not as bad as I thought. We used to argue all the time.

“We misunderstood each other and had our prejudices. Since fate brought us together as husband and wife, we must have some connection. It’s tiring to keep arguing all the time.

“Since we have a common goal, we might as well put down our weapons and get along peacefully.”

Leonard nodded.

Their common goal had indeed changed. It was not good to keep arguing constantly, significantly when it hindered their ability to conceive a child. Since they had decided not to divorce, Leonard believed they would eventually have children together. sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Lisa sighed in relief when Leonard agreed with her words. Then she revealed her prepared gift-an umbrella.

“Here’s a small token of my appreciation for getting me out of the police station and bringing me to the hospital last night. You can keep it in your trunk and use it when it rains. I checked the weather forecast, and it seems it’ll rain in the city for the

next two weeks.”

Leonard looked at the black umbrella. Even someone like him, who had experienced many storms, was stunned.

‘If I remember correctly, an umbrella symbolizes protection from wind and rain. When a woman gives a man an umbrella, it implies she hopes he will be her lifelong protector, shielding her from the storms of life.

‘I just hinted at it, and she’s already planning our future so quickly? No wonder she couldn’t wait to come out for dinner.’

Lisa grew nervous when she saw him staring at the umbrella silently. She wondered if he thought the umbrella was a poor gift

choice.

“You mustn’t underestimate this umbrella. It has a double-layered fabric. The first layer is waterproof, and the second is even more waterproof. Also, the umbrella frame is sturdy and durable-”

Leonard smirked, surprised to see Lisa’s nervous side.

‘Well, that adds a touch of cuteness to her.’

“Give me the umbrella.” Leonard reached out his hand.

Lisa paused for a moment and handed over the umbrella.

Leonard took a quick look and lightly opened his thin lips. “It’s nice.”
