Chapter 80
Chapter So
Leonard smirked, but Lisa sent another message before he could reply. “I was wondering when you’d be free since you helped me last night, and I suggested treating you to a meal.
‘Why is she so impatient?’ Leonard thought.
Surprised, he replied, “I’m busy at the office today.”
“Let’s make it tomorrow then, okay?” Lisa wanted to settle the money issue as soon as possible.
On the other hand, Leonard thought Lisa was too impatient and eager to solidify their relationship. “I’m okay to have a meal tomorrow evening. Do you need me to pick you up?”
“No, it’s okay. I’ll send you the address and drive there myself.” Lisa sighed with relief after the agreement. She did not expect Leonard to agree to go on a date with her after their previous conflict.
‘Maybe he feels guilty for slapping me.’
After some thought, Celine said, “He helped us last night, and we’re asking him for help again. Do you think we should get him a present?”
“Sounds good.” Lisa agreed. She understood the principle of giving a little to gain a lot.
Soon after, she and Celine went shopping together. Considering Leonard’s status, the duo knew they could not buy something cheap and of poor quality as it would leave a terrible impression.
The duo wandered around for a while and felt distressed. Lisa and Celine did not expect the most random gifts for men to be so expensive. Anything with a decent brand was outrageously pricey.
Lisa could afford expensive things, but the prices were off the charts. The cost of a present for Leonard was too high to make back Celine’s 2,500 dollars. They would end with a loss if they gave him something too expensive.
Ultimately, Lisa grew tired of shopping and bought an umbrella a salesperson recommended. It was of decent quality and cost only about 15 dollars. Since weather predictions showed it would rain heavily in the next few days, she figured it would be helpful to Leonard.
Celine agreed that it was a practical gift. They were still clueless and had no idea that giving a man an umbrella was inappropriate.
After returning home, Lisa started looking for a trendy restaurant. She found a decent one and called to make a reservation. She drove there first on the following evening. Since it would be her treat, she did not want to make Leonard wait. When she arrived, the waitress led her in and asked, “Miss, will you be dining with your boyfriend tonight?
“We have a promotion for couples where you can enjoy 30% off and participate in a sweepstakes.”
Lisa was not interested in the draw. The only thing she had ever won from a sweepstakes was toilet paper. However, the discount sounded tempting. She lied without hesitation, “Yes, I’ll be with my boyfriend.”
“Sure. Could you please write a loving message for him?” The waitress revealed a card and added, “We’ll display it on the wall
over there.”
Lisa figured no one would read it anyway, so she casually wrote a line.
The waitress continued, “Could you also write down your phone number? We’ll hold the lucky draw session later.”
Lisa filled in the information. After all, any prize would suffice since it was free.
Leonard arrived ten minutes later. He was wearing beige slacks and a white silk shirt. His tall figure resembled a painting. With the collar of his shirt slightly open, he walked by as the light above shined on his handsome face.
