The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 76

Chapter 76

“Stephanie and I aren’t meant for each other,” Leonard said calmly, “When we started dating, I thought she was a well- educated and talented socialite in Queenston. My feelings for her grew as we dated.

“She would’ve been a suitable candidate if we got married. However, I don’t like women who are too emotional. I’m usually busy with work and don’t have the luxury to invest time in emotions. That’s why I hope for my partner to be independent, rational, and sober.”

He paused and considered Lisa beside him. He added, “I can provide all the money she wants, but love isn’t something I can give.”

‘Money, huh?’ Lisa felt tempted for a moment.

A marriage with money but no love might not be desirable to others, but Lisa thought it was appealing. She lacked a sense of security; money could provide her with the most significant sense of safety.

Lisa quickly regained her composure.

Leonard based his demands on the fact that Lisa was a daughter of the Jones family, but she was not. Despite Lisa being independent and rational, Leonard would not fall in love with and tolerate her.

She sighed, lowered her head, and continued drinking her porridge.

Leonard noticed Lisa had stopped talking and thought she understood his intentions. He would not insist on getting a divorce as long as she did not ask for extravagant things.

Lisa had only eaten half of her meal and noticed Leoned staring at her. His obsidian eyes looked darker under the lamps. His eyelashes were long and thick, casting shadows on his cheeks, which created a profound and affectionate look.

Lisa’s heart ski pped a beat. She regained her senses and thought he might also be hungry. She blurted out, “Do you want some?”

She immediately regretted what she just said. Leonard had only bought two bowls of porridge. Celine had finished one, and Lisa was eating hers. Her offer showed she was asking him to share a bowl with her. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Sure.” Unexpectedly, Leonard agreed and leaned slightly toward her. His clean and refreshing scent drifted over and caused Lisa to freeze.

“Um, I-I used this spoon.”

“It’s okay.” Leonard took the bowl from her and started to devour the porridge.

It was a plain porridge, which he typically never liked. However, since Lisa’s initiative to offer seemed genuine, he could only

accept.

After sipping the porridge, Leonard’s previously upset stomach, likely from the alcohol earlier, seemed to have settled down. He ate a bit more and then returned the bowl to Lisa.

Lísa looked at the bowl in bewilderment.

‘We drank from the same bowl, so technically, we shared saliva.’

Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.

Leonard noticed her pitiful expression turning red as he sat beside her. Even Lisa’s earlobes turned red, but Leonard found it quite adorable. He chuckled discreetly.

Although Lusa usually had hard fists and a hot temper, she would quickly feel embarrassed.

Leonard wondered what would unfold if he went in for a kiss. The thought of that immediately made his mouth dry.
