The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 70

Chapter 70

“Is that so?” The doctor was quite surprised. “Your wife looks pretty young. I didn’t expect her to be married at such a young age.”

Leonard smiled faintly, “We’ve been engaged since young.”

“That’s so romantic.” The doctor nodded.

Lisa was speechless. The doctor had turned the medical examination into a full-blown conversation. She glared at Leonard angrily. “Can you please wait outside?”

“Sure,” Leonard smirked as he closed the curtains and stepped outside.

The doctor said smilingly, “You guys are already married, yet you’re still so shy. Although, your husband is pretty

Lisa rolled her eyes and thought, ‘Obedient, my *ss.’

obedient.

The doctor began examining her injuries. “Does this hurt?”

“Ow! Easy there, doc. That hurts.” Lisa’s delicate voice sounded behind the curtain, and Leonard felt parched. His mind wandered toward wild thoughts at the sound of her voice. He developed a slight headache.

‘Have I reached the age where such things easily sway me?’

Leonard could not believe in his lack of self-control. He hurried to the bathroom while Lisa was still occupied with her check- up. When Leonard returned, the doctor had finished assessing Lisa’s injuries.

Afterward, Leonard accompanied her for an X-ray to confirm she had no broken bones. Once they finished, the doctor prescribed Lisa some medication.

After picking up the medicine, Lisa rummaged in the paper bag for the receipt and calculated the amount she had spent. “Give me your number.”

Leonard was stunned as he stared at the medicine. Then he proudly retorted, “What? You took all my friends’ numbers but didn’t want mine. Now you want it?”

“No, I just want to Venmo the money to you. I spent so much tonight. Also, how much was the bail at the station? I’ll pay you back for everything.”

Immediately after, Lisa noticed Leonard’s gloomy expression, his gaze cold as ice. Lisa became nervous and added, “It’s fine if you don’t want to give me your number. Just tell me your username or something.”

Her words almost drove Leonard up the wall. He had never met such a dull and incompetent woman. His expression darkened as if a thundercloud hovered above him. Leonard could not believe Lisa’s foolishness compared to other women he had met. “Are you trying to humiliate me, Lisa? A few thousand dollars is pocket change for someone of my status. Also, according to the marriage certificate, you’re still my wife.”

Lisa blinked innocently. “No, I don’t want to owe you any money. You always call me a gold-digger. If I don’t pay you back, you’ll think I’m taking advantage of you. As they say, even close relatives settle their accounts, let alone a fake couple like us.”

“What fake couple? The marriage certificate is real and registered with the town hall. How is it a fake? I wish it were, but it’s not.” Leonard said in a strange tone.

Lisa stammered, “We haven’t slept together yet, so we’re a fake couple.”

There was an awkward silence in the air for a few seconds. Leonard suddenly laughed. “Then, would you like us to be a real couple?”

Lisa was flabbergasted and quickly shook her head. “What?! No! Don’t spout such nonsense!” Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
