Chapter 68
Chapter 68
The driver noticed Leonard and drove over,
Leonard opened the backseat door and pushed Lisa in, ensuring she would not run away. Instead of going to the other side, he squeezed in from the side Lisa sat on.
Lisa could barely react fast enough in the dimly lit car as Leonard’s tall figure squeezed toward her. Leonard closed the door and said, “Scoot over.”
He deposited half of his behind onto her lap before she could move,
“Ah!” Lisa exclaimed, startling Leonard and the driver.
“I’m not that heavy, am I?” Leonard’s expression darkened, and he quickly lifted his weight off her.
Lisa looked up just in time to see a pair of well-shaped buttocks wrapped in slacks right before her. The scene made her blush, and she struggled to move aside. “No, it’s because of the fight earlier. Someone hit my thigh.”
Leonard turned on the overhead light and stared at her leg sullenly, “Where does it hurt?”
Lisa pointed to her right thigh.
“Here?” Leonard pressed his finger against the indicated spot.
“Don’t worry. It’s fine now.” Lisa moved her leg to the side. Although her thigh was still in pain, having a man grip her thigh
like that felt awkward.
Leonard felt she was just brushing him off and not taking his question seriously. She was a young girl who did not understand that neglecting a leg injury could have severe consequences in the future.
He was about to reprimand her when the car lights shining on her face revealed a faint pink hue on her fair cheeks.
He was startled for a moment, then realized she was blushing. He raised an eyebrow and smirked a little. It was nice to see her
blush.
“Sir, are we going to the hospital?” the driver asked.
“Please head to Commonground Hospital,” Lisa quickly spoke up before Leonard could respond. She then explained, “My friend is there for an IV treatment. I can accompany her after getting myself checked.”
“Male or female?” Leonard asked abruptly.
“What?”
Leonard glanced at her coldly, “Is your friend a man or a woman?”
Lisa was speechless, “Of course, it’s a woman. Why would I get into a fight for a male friend?”
“Who knows?” Leonard replied as his expression relaxed.
Lisa could not talk to him further and closed her eyes to rest. After that exhausting fight earlier, she now felt fatigued. She felt relaxed as she sat in the comfortable luxury car and soon drifted off to sleep.
She had planned to close her eyes for a few minutes but did not wake up even after they reached the hospital.
Leonard did not wake her and carried her in instead. Soon, background noises roused Lisa. As she opened her eyes, the bright overhead lights blinded her. A doctor hurriedly pushed a patient from an ambulance into the emergency room as the crying family members followed behind.
She blinked, thinking, ‘Who am I, and why am I in the hospital?’
