Chapter 59

“I’m sorry, we can’t allow strangers in,” the guard insisted.
“I already told you that my friend is in trouble.” Lisa was growing more anxious.
“We don’t know if you’re telling the truth or trying to fool us. There have been cases of people sneaking in and robbing the residents,” the guard argued.
Lisa’s expression turned cold as she decided to take matters into her own hands.
She forcefully pushed the guard who was blocking her, causing him to fall. The taller guard, who was about six-foot-five, rushed toward her. She skillfully slipped under his arm and deftly clasped his wrist, forcing it backward.
In one smooth motion, she reached into the security booth through the window and unlocked the glass door.
Lisa pushed the taller guard onto the one who had just gotten up. She swiftly grabbed the registration book from the table and slipped into the building. After repeatedly pressing the elevator button without a response, she realized she needed an access
card.
She had no other choice. The pursuing guard caught up, so she could only run toward the stairs. While running, she flipped through the book to see which floor Celine had gone to. Lisa stumbled on her step when she saw the number.
“The 50th floor? Seriously?’
Lisa felt utterly overwhelmed.
Climbing up there seemed impossible. Not only would Lisa risk missing her chance, but she might also get caught in the process. She decided to turn back and head downstairs.
Halfway down, she ran into the two guards chasing her.
“You guys have the elevator access card, right? Swipe it for me.” Lisa beckoned sinisterly. She looked menacing in the shadows of the staircase with her half-hidden face. “If not, I’ll have to take it from you. Don’t make me do that.”
“B*tch, no one is afraid of you.” The taller guard was still resentful of Lisa beating him up. He charged toward her vengefully. Within seconds, he begged for mercy with half his face pressed against the wall. “Please spare me! I have an 80-year-old mother at home. Please let me go. I was wrong to mess with you.”
The shorter guard wisely chose not to intervene, fully aware of his limitations.
“Don’t worry. I promise I won’t steal anything. I’m just looking for my friend,” Lisa assured them.
She quickly obtained the access card and entered the elevator. After pressing the button for the 50th floor, she arrived in no
time.
When Lisa exited the elevator, she was astounded by the stunning corridor decoration. The event hall resembled a private club as luxurious as a palace. Doors stood open, revealing exquisitely lavish interiors.
A party was going on with young people dressed glamorously and elegantly. They either donned luxurious designer dresses from magazines or tailored ones.
Lisa entered the event hall unnoticed. Everyone gathered around the central bar, engrossed in something. They shouted, ” Drink! Drink!”
Anxious, Lisa squeezed through the crowd and stood on her tiptoes to take a look. What she saw left her in shock.
In the center of the gathering was Celine, visibly red from embarrassment. She was holding a bottle of whiskey. Some people were pushing her repeatedly, which caused her to stumble and almost fall.
“Drink it all quickly, or you’ll have to bark like a dog!”
A surge of anger coursed through Lisa’s mind.
