The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 51

Chapter 51

Lisa pinched her thigh and forced herself to calm down. “Is there any insulin in the house?”

“Yeah, there is,” Alice remembered and quickly fetched Melissa’s medication. Lisa took the insulin and administered it to

Melissa.

The ambulance arrived ten minutes later and took Melissa to the hospital. Meanwhile, Alice called Leonard, his brother, and their father. The trio arrived almost simultaneously. Jeffrey and Michelle came together while David hobbled over with his

cane.

“What happened, Alice? Why did Melissa faint?” David questioned.

Alice paled as she glanced at Lisa.

Michelle angrily asked, “Lisa, did you make Mom faint?”

Leonard’s gaze shifted to Lisa when he heard those words. He looked like he wanted to devour her as his temples throbbed.” Did you do it?”

Lisa’s mouth was slightly agape, unsure of what to say. Logically speaking, she was involved in Melissa’s fainting.

‘If I didn’t buy that cake and put it in the refrigerator…’

“Lisa, what did you do to my wife?!” David looked like he was ready to kill.

Alice muttered, “Mom may have fainted from eating too much of Ms. Lisa’s cake.”

“So it is you again.” Leonard had never hated a woman this much. His anger surged, and his hand raised, landing a slap on

Lisa’s fair face.

“If anything happens to my mother, I’ll make you pay with your life.” Leonard shoved a finger in Lisa’s face, emitting a terrifyingly chilling aura.

Lisa’s head buzzed from the slap. She raised her hand to touch her throbbing cheek, now dripping with blood. The bright red liquid made the heat in her head rise. No one besides her drunkard father had ever hit her. She wanted nothing more than to fight him.

Still, Melissa was in the emergency room, and Lisa did not know if Melissa’s life was in danger. If something were to happen, she had to be responsible.

Michelle saw Lisa’s miserable state and gloated, “I told you this woman is a bringer of disasters. Our family has not had a moment of peace since she appeared.”

David sighed. “I was wrong. I shouldn’t have forced you two to be together. I should’ve let you get a divorce earlier.”

The emergency room doors opened at that moment, and the Parker family immediately approached. Jeffrey was familiar with the doctor treating Melissa and approached him. “Doctor Otto, how’s my mother doing?” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴet website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Jeffrey. Your mother’s life is not at risk,” Doctor Otto said, “But I’m sure you’re aware of her condition. How could you let her eat so much sugar? Her blood sugar rose to 35 and almost caused a myocardial infarction.

“Fortunately, one of your family members took the appropriate measures and used an insulin injection. It reduced her blood

sugar on the way here.”

The Parker family sighed in relief. Jeffrey said, “Please take my mother to the ward.”

The group surrounded the unconscious Melissa as they entered the elevator. When they passed Lisa, Leonard forcefully pushed her aside. Lisa stumbled and bumped into the wall behind her.

She looked up and met Leonard’s cold gaze. He looked at her in disgust, his thin lips coldly saying, “Get lost.” “Yeah, scram.” Michelle shot her a fierce glance.
