The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 41

Chapter 41

Leonard entered the private room with long strides. He was oblivious that, to Lisa, he was eagerly coming to Stephanie’s

rescue.

Lisa sighed quietly. “How endearing.”

Stephanie also believed Leonard was on her side. Suppressing her satisfaction, she followed Leonard into the room and assumed the role of a gracious hostess.

She turned to Lisa and said, “Come in quickly. The food here is excellent.”

Then, she took a seat beside Leonard without a second thought. They seemed to be the perfect couple-one charming with a dignified aura, the other graceful and poised. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the FindNøvᴇl.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Let’s join them. Since Ms. Stephanie has invited us, we can’t refuse her kindness,” Lisa said, pulling Leslie inside.

Leslie tugged at her and whispered, “Let’s not go. Leonard’s ex-girlfriend is irritating, and I lost my appetite just seeing her. Besides, it’s risky for us to stay here. If our identities are exposed, it’ll cause trouble.”

“I’m staying for your sake. Don’t you find it strange? All these people are prominent figures in Queenston. How does Christopher know them? He’s just an associate professor.”

Lisa continued wondering, “How did he become a VVIP guest at the Villagio Center? He also reserved this private room today, which must’ve cost thousands. Even if his parents were professors and deans, they wouldn’t be so lavish. Not to mention, his parents don’t really like you. Would they be willing to spend so much money for your sake?”

Leslie was taken aback. The situation had puzzled her before, but she had not thought about it until that moment, as familiar faces surrounded her.

“But…”

“There are no ‘buts.’ I don’t even care about Leonard, let alone Stephanie.”

Without another word, Lisa pulled Leslie inside. There was still an empty seat next to Leonard. Quince approached it and was ready to sit down when Lucas shoved him aside. “Why sit there? Sit next to me.”

Quince stood there, momentarily stunned, before Lucas added, “Lisa, why don’t you sit next to Leonard?”

“It’s fine.” Lisa shook her head. “I don’t want to disturb him and Ms. Stephanie.”

Her statement drew everyone’s attention, especially Leonard’s. His handsome face exuded a strong chill. “Lisa, what are you implying?”

Leonard and Stephanie sat peacefully, minding their own business. Lisa’s abrupt statement seemed to have hidden intentions behind it.

Dissatisfaction filled Leonard’s eyes, and the warning they sent was unmistakable.

Lisa put up an innocent front and said, “I didn’t mean that. I genuinely think you two are well-matched. I don’t want to interrupt the fun.”

“Is that sarcasm?” Leonard lifted his chin slightly, his tone frigid.

“It’s just an innocent statement,” Lisa said, raising her hand. “I swear that I spoke sincerely. We don’t have any history, so why would I be sarcastic? Besides, the two of you make a stunning couple-one handsome and the other beautiful, perfectly matched in appearance and social status.”

Leonard scrutinized the woman before him. Today, she was dressed simply, wearing white pants and a coffee-colored crop top.

The short hem of her top showcased her slender waist, while her baby-faced features were turned toward the sky. It did not diminish her attractiveness in the slightest. Her fair skin seemed to emit a glow, adding to the radiance of her features. Though their time together had been brief, Leonard understood that Lisa’s emotions were often reflected in her eyes. At this

moment, they showed no trace of hostility.

He realized that Lisa’s words were most likely sincere.
