The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 39

Chapter 39

Stephanie showed a delighted expression upon seeing Lisa and Leslie. She instinctively leaned closer to Leonard, wanting to be as close to him as possible.

“I didn’t expect us to meet again so soon, Lisa.”

Lucas was the first to remove his sunglasses and flash a bright smile gracefully. He waved, saying, “Well, if it isn’t Leslie. Do you and Lisa know each other?”

“Lucas, who’s that?” Benedict shifted his gaze to Lisa.

“That’s the one from Leonard’s…” Quince leaned in and whispered.

Lucas became wide-eyed.

“That sweet-looking girl with a delicate face is the vixen who stripped Leonard’s bed in the middle of the night? What a contrast.’

“Lucas, how do you and Leslie know each other?” Lisa went on high alert when she saw the group.

‘What a joke! I’m a stand-in bride, and the one who was supposed to marry Leonard is beside me. If they recognize us, Leslie and I will be in trouble.’

Meanwhile, Leslie was utterly baffled. She never expected Lisa to know Christopher’s friends. “They’re Chris’s friends, They were at my cafe last night.”

Lisa remained silent, and her heart nearly stopped beating. These relationships were becoming more messy. Leslie married Christopher, and Lisa married Leonard. However, the two men turned out to be friends.

‘Da mn it! To top it all off, Leslie seems oblivious. No, I must keep the secret hidden.’

Lisa cleared her throat, leaned closer to Leslie’s ear, and whispered, “The man in the navy blue shirt standing beside the woman is Leonard. He’s the one who almost died in a car accident.”

Leslie was shocked.

‘So that person is the fiance my family arranged for me since she was a child?’

Leslie refocused her mind and felt a sense of despair. She thought of how small the world was.

“What are you whispering about?” Lucas smiled and asked, “You two have the same last name. Are you two siblings?”

His words reminded Leonard of something, and the latter immediately realized the situation before him. He asked Lisa, “Is she your father’s second wife’s daughter?”

“Yes, I’m the daughter of Lisa’s stepmother,” Leslie said quickly.

Stephanie’s eyes flashed with a hint of disdain. “It’s rare to see stepsiblings getting along so well. They’re usually at odds, but you two have a better relationship than actual sisters.”
