“Mom!” Leslie frowned. “You promised me you would behave.”

Josephine impatiently retorted, “I wonder what spell Lisa and her mother cast on you. You’re my daughter, Josephine Stark’s daughter. Do you honestly need to be stepsisters with a poor girl? The Stark family has plenty of other options.” sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Lisa clenched her fists tightly.

Meanwhile, Leslie was losing her patience. “You only focused on your career throughout the years, and Dad never paid much attention to me either. Only Lisa was there for me. I won’t allow you to speak ill of her.”

“I wasted time raising you.” Josephine looked at her biological daughter, anger boiling within her. “Your grandmother and I put in a lot of effort to secure your marriage into the Parker family. Despite all that, you married a divorced man.

“Look at Lisa now. She has taken on your identity to become the wife of the Parker family’s second son. If only you were more ambitious, such a great opportunity wouldn’t have gone to someone else.”

After a brief pause, she turned to Lisa. “Now that Leonard’s life is no longer at risk, when will you divorce him? Don’t tell me you want to continue being Leonard’s wife.

“The Parker family only agreed to the marriage because of the Stark family’s reputation. Don’t drag us down with you once your secret gets exposed and you face the Parker family’s retaliation.”

“I want a divorce too, but my father-in-law disagrees,” Lisa impatiently replied, “It’s not like I insisted on marrying into the Parker family. You and Sebastian thought Leonard would die and didn’t even want Leslie to marry him.

“Now that Leonard is better, you’re getting jealous. You act like you have no part in your previous decisions.”

“How dare you—”

Sebastian drove over. His eyes brightened upon seeing his ex-wife again. He and Josephine had met through a chance encounter at work. Josephine came from a well-off family, and he put much effort into pursuing her.

He also started his own company in Queenston with the Stark family’s support and succeeded in his career. However, he found Josephine’s forcefulness intolerable when they married and missed his former girlfriend, the mild and submissive Isabella.

Later, he married the docile Isabella.

Initially, Sebastian and Isabella’s life together was enjoyable, but the longer they spent together, the more he realized Isabella was shallow-minded. All she knew was the kitchen.

Lisa was disobedient, and Isabella’s relatives were poor people who could not fit into high society.

In contrast, Josephine was fashionable and beautiful, displaying maturity and elegance in every move. She and Sebastian shared common interests in their work, and Josephine was much stronger than Isabella.

Sebastian regretted his decision to divorce Josephine.

“Isabella, long time no see. What were you two talking about? Did Lisa make you angry?” Sebastian greeted Josephine with a smile and then turned to Lisa sternly. “Lisa, it’s one thing to argue with me at home, but be polite to Josephine so others won’t think you have no manners.”

His chameleon-like attitude made Lisa feel sorry for her mother.

Leslie quickly interjected, “Dad, Lisa didn’t-”

“Sebastian, doesn’t Josephine look beautiful?” Lisa interrupted Leslie with a smirk. “When you left the car earlier, you couldn’t take your eyes off her.”

Josephine felt disgusted, while Sebastian frowned and rebuked angrily, “Are you making things up, Lisa?”

“Am I making things up? Don’t you know what you were thinking? Weren’t you just thinking Josephine looked much younger

than my mother despite being older? My mother only knows how to cook and clean. If you had known, you wouldn’t have divorced Josephine.”

Sebastian’s heart pounded.

‘Are Lisa and Isabella even related? I wonder how a woman as honest as Isabella birthed such a scheming daughter. Lisa must’ve taken after her alcoholic father.’

“Try making up stories like that again, Lisa,” he warned.
