The Marriage That Never Was (Leonard and Lisa )

Chapter 20

Chapter 20

“I noticed that too!”

The discussion gradually faded, and Leonard did not catch up with them. He felt tense, and his obsidian eyes were full of embarrassment.

The police officers’ words were harsh, but after reflecting on everything that happened, Leonard realized his family’s behavior was humiliating, especially in front of the police. Still, he believed Lisa was a thief because of her greed for money. ‘What’s happening to me? I’m seldom this confused. Why do I feel like a different person whenever Lisa’s around?’

Meanwhile, Lisa had patiently waited in the living room since Leonard left.

After waiting a while, Michelle said, “Mom, Dad, I’m sorry for all the trouble today. I’ll go upstairs now and put away the necklace. Also, Stephanie bought you a stunning watch today, Mom.”

“Really? Show me,” Melissa eagerly responded, wanting to change the subject.

“Let’s go upstairs. I’ll take you there,” Michelle said, guiding her mother-in-law by the arm.

Lisa observed coldly, then said, “Even children know how to apologize when they make mistakes. I didn’t expect a forty-year- old to be so ignorant.” Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Michelle frowned while Melissa said hushedly, “Today has been embarrassing enough. Michelle misunderstood you, but you were also aggressive, so you didn’t suffer alone.”

“Everyone accused me of being a thief. No matter how I defended myself, none of you believed me. Even when the police found evidence, Michelle continued to slander me. Wasn’t that enough?” Lisa bit her lip and continued, “If you don’t want to apologize, just say so.”

Melissa was disgusted with Lisa for disrespecting her, an elder.

At that moment, Jeffrey stood up and said, “Lisa, I apologize to you on behalf of Michelle. She behaved poorly today, but please don’t take it out on my mother. She’s getting old.”

“Okay, what else can I do since you put it that way?” Lisa turned and went upstairs.

A trace of disdain flickered in Michelle’s eyes when she saw that.

‘So what if Lisa feels aggrieved? She just married into the family and can’t compare to me. My in-laws love me, respects me as his sister-in-law.’

and Leonard

Five minutes later, Lisa unexpectedly went downstairs with her pink suitcase. Leonard had just returned when he saw her. He spoke coldly, “What are you planning now? Are you running away again?”

David looked stern. “Lisa, I know we made a mistake about you, but that’s because we don’t know you well enough. Please stop causing trouble.”

Lisa smiled softly, her clear gaze sweeping over everyone in the room. “You may not know me very well, but I know all of you. That’s enough for me.”
