Chapter CHAPTER 50
“NO!” The Luna screamed and I caught the boy before he could get to the beta.
But that wasn’t the problem, the problem was that the gamma and the alpha had frozen at the shout of the boy. Even I was shocked as I thought I had misplaced whose son it was but looking at their faces I realized it was not just me who didn’t know whose son it was.
The alpha and his gamma turned to the Luna who looked at them with fear under her oxygen mask but the ignorant child didn’t know what trouble he had caused for his mother, he was only worried about his father who was no longer trying to break out of the dark knight’s grasp but was staring at the Luna sadly.
“What the hell!” Rieka said as the scene sank into my brain.
“He is your father?” I asked suddenly looking at the boy but he didn’t reply he only struggled in my grasp so I let him go and he rushed to the beta shouting ‘papa.’
I gasped again and turned to the alpha. This was not how I envisioned this night playing out but it was an amazing development.
“You have such an amazing family alpha!” I declared and that was all it took for the already mad alpha to slit open the Luna’s throat.
“Mama!” The boy shouted again as he saw the alpha who he already knew was not his father kill his mother.
The gamma looked at his alpha in shock, confused on how to react then turned to me. “You!” he growled.
I grabbed a knife that was hanging on the wall as decoration and threw it straight to his heart immediately, I didn’t have time to deal with pests like him. I turned back to the alpha who stood dazed on the spot after he had killed his Luna.
So I turned to the other men and they threw me an injection of our favorite fluid and I walked to the dazed alpha and stabbed him in his neck. He pushed me away and pulled it out but not fast enough to prevent the fluid from already entering his system.
He tried to attack me but I only stepped away as the fluid began to take effect, his wolf was disappearing. He looked at the beta who already choking blood and rushed to him.
He probably thought he was dying and wanted to kill the beta himself before dying, I thought as I stopped the dark Knight from preventing him but what he did shocked me.
He grabbed the child and took off his mask.
My eyes widened in surprise and so did that of the dying beta. The dark knights looked at me for an order, but I only shook my head, this was not my business all I came here for was Ramon.
I also knew what it felt like to be betrayed. Even if this alpha was greedy, it would still hurt. By the way, when I went back for Layla and Eric, I couldn’t guarantee that I would let any child they have walk away alive.
I looked around the office that once held the harmonious family for a while not wanting to watch the brutality of a man towards a child he once considered his son. The thud of a body made me turn around and I realized the beta and his son with the Luna were dead.
I walked up to the alpha and dragged his weak body by the collar.
“You better start talking or else....” I began when I heard someone tug on the mind link.
“We found Ramon but we can’t go in.” One of the warriors mind-linked and I immediately dropped the alpha.
“Bring him.” I said and immediately rushed out.
...............
I walked into the underground dungeon to see the dungeon guard smirking at the dark knight warriors who couldn’t enter because of the barrier.
“What is going on here?” I asked.
“We can’t enter, magical barrier.” The dark knight behind me said and I looked at the guards who busted into laughter as if I had no idea.
“You fools, even if you tear down the whole pack you won’t be able to save your friend. The alpha would meet you here.” A dark-skinned guard said as he walked to the edge of the barrier, even though he couldn’t walk out of it.
I lifted my brow in amusement and looked at the warrior behind me as if understanding what I was asking, he replied.
“Because the dungeon is underground. they can’t hear what is going on outside.”
“Oh.” I said as I nodded turning back to the confused guard who had the keys to the dungeon jiggling on his waist.
“W..What is going on outside?” he asked.
“You really don’t know?” I asked and he shook his head. “Bring the alpha,” I said with a sigh and the alpha was immediately brought to his knees beside me.
“Alpha!” the two guards exclaimed then looked at me with fear.
“Let go of the alpha or we will kill your friend.” The man close to the barrier’s border threatened and I laughed.
“Really? Do you think you’re in the position to do that?” I asked as I walked to the edge of the border facing him.
“Yes.” He said raising his chest in deviance.
I sighed at his stupidity then grabbed him by the collar, he looked at me surprised and I returned a wicked smile before pulling him out of the barrier. The dark knights immediately pounced on him giving him the beating of his life.
He must have insulted them before I arrived, that wasn’t my business. I turned to the other man and looked at him.
“Outside this barrier, the wolf bane is released into the air. I could let you live by leaving this barrier intact if you bring my friend to me.” I said.
His eyes flashed as he seem to finally understand why we all had oxygen masks on.
“So what do you say?” I asked and he immediately rushed to open the prison and helped the badly beaten Ramon out.
When he looked up and saw us he smiled even though he could barely see through his swollen eyes
“I thought you lot abandoned me.” He said laughing as he walked towards us.
“How can we? You have our way home in your hands.” I said as he walked out of the barrier, signaling someone who immediately put an oxygen mask over his face.
Ramon laughed at my words, while the others clapped Ramon on the shoulders happily as they helped him out of the dungeon.
“What about the alpha?” the guard within the barrier asked.
“He comes with us.” I said not spearing him a glance.
“What if I want you to let him go?” The guard asked again and this time I turned to him.
“You should worry about yourself pack wolf.” I said and walked out of the dungeon with the others.
The guard was foolish to believe me, the moment I stretched out my hand to grab his colleague the barrier had been infiltrated. As of now, the wolf bane was already seeping in, just in minute quantities so he was going to have a slower and more painful death than the others.
We also left the badly beaten dark skin guard there. He wouldn’t last long either.
We walked out of the dungeon into the street of the town which was now dead silent except for the whooshing of the burning warehouse. The whole street was littered with dead bodies.
“You people think you’ve won?” The alpha who must have been pained seeing his pack members littering the ground suddenly announced and we looked at him stopping on our tracts.
“You’ve not. Alpha Dante isn’t going to let any of you go scot-free.” he announced and I frowned, that name sounded so very familiar I didn’t know where I have heard it but I also noticed that Ramon froze.
He pushed the warriors helping him away and grabbed the alpha. “Tell me what you know.”
The alpha laughed. “He knew you were coming, he prepared all this trap for you to wipe you, dark knights, out. That warehouses you burnt. We made the wolf bane there. It wasn’t just a storage room, it was a lab. You killed the humans who made it along too when you set it ablaze.”
Everyone’s face twisted in surprise but Ramon was angry, he shook the alpha continuously.
“How did you know about us?! How long have you been working for alpha Dante!” he asked and the alpha laughed from under his mask.
“He is infiltrating the dark lair as we speak! Your mistress is probably dead.” he announced and everyone’s blood ran cold.
“What?!” Ramon whispered weakly.
“Do you think he would fold his hands and allow there to be a force stronger than his in the whole werewolf realm? Never!” he exclaimed and Ramon yanked the mask off his face.
I wanted to stop Ramon because there were still things I wanted to ask like; if there were more warehouses, but the look on Ramon’s face was enough to shut me up.
I just stared at the alpha, who immediately began to choke, falling to the ground while everyone watched. I turned to Ramon, I couldn’t see his face but I knew he was angry.
“Who is Alpha Dante?” I asked.
“There is no time to answer questions, we have to go.” he said with newfound strength and immediately rushed forward. We all followed.
No one was sure if we were to believe the alpha’s words or not.
