Chapter 25
When I woke the next morning, I was so comfortable I didn’t want to move. Elijah was still beside me, his arms wrapped around me, breathing evenly. I laid there, watching him, waiting for the alarm clock to go off. I knew he had lots to do today. The elders had been here and there were sure more things to follow, more people wanting to speak to him. In a way it made me jealous. I knew he was King and he had responsibilities and those responsibilities kept him away from me, most of the time. I tried not to dwell on the time apart. He had said he would be staying at the Manor for a while and would refuse any requests to see him if he could. There would be nothing he could do if it was a pressing matter. I had told him that if he needed to go, he should. I was a big girl and was able to take care of myself. He did not seem to like that idea much. His arms tightened around me and moaned a little, shifting his hips forward. I tried to turn and face him, but something stopped me. There was something poking me. I felt myself blush a little and tried to move away. Elijah, moaned a little in his slumber and his hand locked onto my hip, refusing to let me move away. I laid there, trying to be as still as I could. I jumped when the alarm clock sounded. “What?” he demanded, his fingers digging into my hip. I smacked his hand away. “Ow!”He glanced at me for a moment and then sat up slowly. “Sorry!” he said. I shook my head. “I’m fine. You, however, need to get up and get dressed,” I reminded him. Elijah nodded, pulling me back to his chest. “We should shower,” he said. I look up at him, eyebrows raised. “What?” I asked. “Shower? Together?”He smiled. “Yes. You are my Mate and Queen after all!”I felt myself blush. “Elijah-”“I won’t touch you, if you don’t want me to!” he promised. “It’s just, we have a long day ahead and I thought... ” he stopped, as if he suddenly realized what he was saying. “Faye, I’m so sorry! Forget I said anything!” He jumped from his bed and rushed to the bathroom. It wasn’t long before I heard him turn the shower on. I sighed. I felt like I was pushing him away again. I got to my feet, still dressed in my black lace thong and bra, and walked to the dresser. What was I waiting for? I felt like I needed to wait. I was not sure why. At first, I had thought it was because I had needed to go back to my old Pack House. I had needed answers. I had done that. I had gotten some answers. Or some of them at least. I still didn’t know what Orais wanted with me. I should be moving on. However, something was holding me back. I shook my head and turned and followed him into the bathroom. The bathroom was warm and steam was filling the small room. I placed a big white fluffy towel onto the counter, stripped off my undergarments and joined him under the hot water. The steam inside the shower was so thick that I knew it would be hard for him to see me properly. I watched the drops of water slide down his beautiful tan skin, his muscles flexing as he moved. Elijah jumped and turned to face me when I reached out and touched his arm. He spun around and grabbed my wrist. “Faye.” My name left his lips in a surprised gasp. I forced a smile on my lips. “Pass the soap, please,” I said. Elijah never took his eyes off of my face as he stepped aside letting the scolding water hit me. I had not realized how stressed and tense I had been until the water hit my skin. I sighed, closing my eyes, stepping closer and allowing the water to wash over my face and hair. I could still hear Elijah breathing beside me. I turned to face him, my eyes locked on his face. A faint smile played on his lips as he stepped closer. I waited for him to reach for me, to touch me, but he just stood there, looking at me. I began to feel silly. I began to regret getting in the shower with him. I reached to cover myself, a deep blush covering my cheeks.“No,” he whispered, reaching to grab my arm but stopped. “Remember I said I wouldn’t touch you unless you wanted me to!”I smiled at him. “I know,” I laughed and he reached down and grabbed up a loofa and lathered it up in soap. “Turn around so I can wash your hair and your back!”I turned away and felt his hands run through my hair and down my back, stopping about midway. His hands running up and down my back, sliding across my skin. When he was done with that, his hands moved to my hair, washing it and lathering it up in a rose scented soap, working his hands and fingers through my hair. “You can rinse,” he instructed me. I turned to face the water and began rinsing the soap from my body. With the steaming water still running I was feeling more and more relaxed. That is when I felt his hand run across my stomach. I opened my eyes and found his eyes still locked on my face. My legs suddenly felt like jello. Elijah stepped forward and I felt his hands warp around my hips and he pulled me to him. My body collided with his and his lips came down on mine. “I should have more control then this,” he growled against my mouth. I felt a smile tug at my lips. “Perhaps you should let go,” I told him. “You know. Let go of control for a while!” Elijah laughed against my lips and kissed me, pressing forward. He was careful not to push me too far. He rested his hands against the shower wall and leaned forward, keeping his body off of mine. “We both know we would never leave this room if I did that!” he teased me. I felt myself blush. “I am sure something or someone would make us. It always happens. In three. Two. One!” I sighed and shut off the water. Elijah looked at me, puzzled. Then there was a loud, sharp knock at the bedroom door. Elijah sighed and nodded. “I’ll get it,” he mumbled. I smiled and waited for him to get out of the shower. Once I was sure he was gone, I stepped out myself and dried myself off and dressed quickly. I had chosen a simple pair of blue adidas sweat pants and a dark blue tank top to match. When I returned to the bedroom, Elijah was almost dressed. He was lacing up some sneakers, his t-shirt was thrown across the bed. He smiled when he saw me. “I like the messy hair,” he commented. I scowled at him. “I have not had time to primp!” I reminded him. I walked over to the dresser and picked up my brush. I threw my hair up in a bun, adding a headband to keep everything in place. I watched as Elijah walked over to me, his eyes on mine. “This weekend. We will go to my family cabin and have a weekend just for us!” he told me. I turned to face him, taking in the look on his face. It was the same as it had been shower. Hungry. I leaned into him as he wrapped his arms around me. The smell of him was like ambrosia. “That sounds wonderful,” I said. Before he could answer, there was another knock at the door. Elijah sighed, looking me over once. “Enter,” he said, pulling his shirt on over his head. The door behind us opened and Amilia and Cal walked in. Elijah rolled his eyes and shook his head. “I should have known you would be with him!” he muttered. Amilia ignored him. “We have secured the gym for the day. Trainers have been ordered to keep Pack members away from the area so Faye can practice in peace,” she said. Elijah nodded. “Good. Let’s go,” he said. I looked up at him quickly. “You are going with me?” I asked. I was not sure how I felt about that. I wanted him there, of course, but then again I was not sure if I wanted him to see me fail. I did not know where my powers came from, how they worked or how to use them. There was no telling what would happen. Cal was already taking a huge risk in teaching me. I looked up at Cal and he seemed to have the same thought process as me. “Elijah, no,” I said firmly. He had been on his way out the door when I spoke. He turned to face me. “Excuse me?”I sighed. “No. You can’t come,” I repeated. He shook his head. ’Why?” he demanded. I could see how confused he was about this. And how angry he was getting. I understood why. If I had been in his shoes, I would have been mad as well. I would not have wanted to let Elijah go off with someone I did not know. “Because. I need to focus and if you go with me, it will be hard for me to do that... and I don’t want to hurt you!” I answered. It was only half the truth. if I was being completely honest with myself, it was because I didn’t want him to see me fail. Cal cleared his throat. “She may have a point,” he chimed in. Elijah glowered at him. I understood he wanted to be with me in the training room. However, I didn’t know my powers. I didn’t know how to use or control them. There was no telling what could happen. I turned to face Amilia. “You should stay!” I told her and grabbed up my phone. Her jaw dropped. “What?” she demanded. I shrugged. “It is only fair. I can’t have anyone else in the room that could get hurt. Not anyone that is important to me. And you are one of those people, Amilia. So I will see you both for lunch,” I said and nodded to Cal. He bowed before us and turned to leave the room. Amilia followed him. I turned to face Elijah who did not look pleased. “I will meet you for lunch. At noon,” I told him and stretched up to kiss him. He sighed and pecked my lips lighty. “Just a few more days and we will be off for the weekend and we will get out of here. I have hardly left the Manor since I got here. A weekend away would do us both some good,” I reminded him. Elijah grumbled to himself and nodded. “Fine,” he said, defeated. I smiled up at him and tugged him down to kiss him before I turned to follow Amilia and Cal into the hallway. They stood by the window, holding hands, whispering to each other. I smiled. It was nice that Amilia had found Cal. I had been worried, like Elijah and his mother, that Amilia would never find her Mate. She had been waiting for him for a long time. Cal was whispering seductively in Amilia’s ear and she giggled. I cleared my throat. “Sorry to keep you waiting,” I said. They turned to face me and Amilia nodded. “It’s OK,” she assured me. “I have to go anyway. I have rounds to make. Lists to check. You know, regular work detail. You two play nice,” she said and skipped off down the hall like a schoolgirl. I laughed and shook my head. “Alright, Your Grace, lets go,” Cal said and we set off down the hallway. I was not sure where we were going but when we turned down the east hall, I knew where I was. This was where Summer had confronted me the day the Elders arrived. I knew the holding block was in this area so when Cal stopped before a heavy iron door, I hesitated. Cal seemed to notice my hesitation. “Is something the matter?” he asked me as he rugged the door open. I shook my head, looking down the dark stairwell. Could I have it wrong? Could I have gotten turned around in this huge Manor? The damp smell from the floor below was creeping up the metal stairs and I knew where I was. I was right where I had been that day. I shook my head. He was out of his mind. No way. “I am not going down there!” I said quickly. Cal raised an eyebrow. “Why?”I shook my head again. “I can’t. Small, confined spaces freak me out!”Cal sighed. “But the room had been remade as a private training area. The Cell block has been moved outside of the Manor. They are building a cell house as we speak,” he reasoned with me. I looked back down the dark stairway. Cal reached into the hall and flipped a switch. Bright lights illuminate the whole way down and I could now smell the fresh paint, new leather and saw dust reaching my nose. I took a deep breath and followed Cal into the basement. The once damp and moss covered steps had been replaced with wooden tiles, the walls painted a stark shade of white. The walls separating the individual cells had been knocked down, creating one geint room. Once we reached the middle of the room, Cal turned to face me. “Now,” he said, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “Show me what you are made of, My Queen.”
