The Heart Sees

I walked away with Chase, trying to ignore the pained howl of Troy as I was forcefully dragged away. Lilac growled angrilly in my mind, feeling nothing but rage as she scolded me for leaving Troy. I kept explaining that we had no choice, that Troy would have been killed if we stayed. Eventually she saw how worried I was and agreed to disagree, but insisted that we fight as much as we could.

I told her I would try, but as an omega there was a very slim chance that we could out run or over power all the wolves with us. 'We could try to hide somewhere?' Lilac suggested.

'They would smell us...'I replied.

'It's worth a try, we can't let them take away our mate mark. Troy would never recover and I'm not sure that we could handle losing him either' Lilac whined.

'Okay I'll say we have to use the restroom and then we'll run and hide from there' I decided.

'Okay but be quick, I can already sense we're at the edge of the pack territory' Lilac warned and I silently nodded.

"Alpha I have to go to the restroom" I stated politely.

"You can hold it, we won't be much longer" he grumbled.

"Please Alpha?" I begged.

"Fine... but if you try anything you'll be sorry" he warned and I nodded. I walked off to go behind one of the bushes when one of the other wolves grabbed me. "It's fine, let her go" Chase sighed.

"But alpha we aren't far enough from the pack yet" I heard the wolf argue as I walked away.

I was careful not to run until I knew they were distracted. When I saw the opportunity I ran as fast as I could towards the edge of a river. I quickly smeared myself in mud to mask my scent and bolted to a waterfall that was down stream. I climbed in behind it, hoping the water would block my scent. "Come out now or your punishment will be way worse" I heard Chase yell loudly. I kept as still as I could, praying that I had hid myself well enough, but to my dismay I felt myself being yanked by my hair out of the waterfall. I shrieked in pain as Chase threw me to the ground. I landed with a hard thud and whimpered, realizing that I was once again trapped.

"Alpha, there's a building near by, it looks secure, like it would be a good hiding place" one of the other wolves shouted. The alpha grabbed my arm roughly, yanking me up as he dragged me up the slight slope I had run down.

There was a large building in front of us, but for some reason I couldn't recognize it. I was glad that it wasn't too far from Troy's pack because it meant he could rescue me sooner. "That place is too obvious, but if we play it right maybe we could lure Troy here and plan an ambush" Chase said thoughtfully.

"Alpha! There's some scouts following us" one of the wolves whispered. Chase growled loudly and pulled me up as we made a dash for the building. I was shoved past a bunch of other wolves, who looked to be servants.

Chase took me to a strange room and pushed me to the floor. "Leave us... we have to start the process" he said to the others with a sickly smile.

"What about Troy?" One of them asked.

"He was wounded and an injury like that will take a few hours to heal. I have some time to play" Chase chuckled darkly.

"Yes alpha" they said as they scrambled from the room.

"You rejected me... why can't you just leave me alone and let me be happy?" I asked sadly.

He took slow steps towards me as I backed against the wall. "Because you and I are soul mates, I can't just let that go. Besides, we'll make such beautiful pups together" he purred and I felt bile rise in my throat.

"I don't want to have pups with you!" I spat. That statement was followed by a sharp slap across my cheek.

"Well you will... and with the way your heat is I'm sure you'll be begging me for it" Chase mocked.

"The only one I would ever beg to make a pup with is my chosen mate Troy" I hissed.

"Well then, we'll see if I can change your mind once that mark is removed and mine is there instead" Chase said as he approached me.

Before I knew what I was doing I kicked Chase as hard as I could, making a mad dash for the door only to find it locked. My heart sank as Chase's heavy footsteps came up behind me. He yanked my head to the side and licked the skin on my neck where Troy's mark was, causing a painful feeling to tear through my body.

'Lilac you have to block Troy out... I can't let him feel this... I don't want to hurt him' I pleaded.

'I will... but only temporarily' Lilac sighed before I felt a wall build in my mind.

"Get off me!" I screamed as I kicked backwards.

Unfortunately I was easily over powered and Chase slammed me into the door face first. "Why do you fight it? You know we had a bond once and we can have it back" Chase purred in my ear.

"I don't want it back! I want Troy!" I shouted.

I heard Chase curse loudly behind me before he ranted, "why did you even pick someone like him... he's blind!" Chase growled.

"He sees me more than you ever have!" I spat out.

"You'll change your mind after we mate... then you won't want anyone but me. I'll make sure of it!" He snarled angrilly, his hand roaming down to squeeze my butt.

"I'm not even in heat! You know I can't have pups right now" I defended.

"Practice makes perfect" he chuckled smugly as he spun me around. I fought as hard as I could, kicking and screaming. Then Chase slammed my head back against the door and my vision started to feel fuzzy as I got light headed.

I heard Troy's voice in my head and desperately reached out, "Troy?" I think he replied... he wanted to know what was happening I think. "He...." but before I could say anything else Chase slapped me across my face again and I fell to the floor, darkness taking over as I prayed he didn't take me while I was unconscious.
