The Gay Nerd Who Stole His Heart

Chapter 22

"Pick a partner," Professor Miller announced.

Jonah glanced towards Kylan, and they both nodded. It had been a few weeks since they had started seeing each other, and the comfort level between the two had risen. Although teasing still occurred, Jonah remained next to Kylan more often than usual since that stopped any teasing that could happen. The kid that had tripped Kylan had been expelled, but Ella had dodged expulsion since Jonah had vouched for her, and the mayor had also emailed the school. They let her off with a detention slip, and she was thankful for that.

"Eat this," she had screamed before slamming her knuckles into Kylan's stomach. Kylan had grunted, falling into the floor with his palms holding his stomach. Jonah, who had been present during that time, knelt down after narrowing his eyes towards Ella. Ella had crossed her arms and smirked, "Now I'm not mad anymore." That was how they had fixed their friendship.

"The partner you've chosen is the one you will be with to complete this assignment," Professor Miller announced, and Jonah was quite happy about that. He and Kylan had been on a good page, having gone on a few dates, although their relationship had not been yet titled. However, they were on the same page, "Here is the basis of this assignment; read it thoroughly. Ask me if you have any questions". He handed out the papers, and soon the bell rang right after, and students began standing, "I'll see you all tomorrow."

"Jonah."

A girl's voice caused both of them to glance upwards, and someone was at the door, waving her hand. She did seem young, quite attractive at that, and Kylan raised an eyebrow; he had never seen her before. He was not even sure if she went to their school.

Jonah did not say anything to Kylan and immediately grabbed his belongings and left the classroom, not even waiting a second. Kylan was quite confused, and when he exited the classroom, Jonah was nowhere in sight. Even when he went to P.E class, Jonah was not there. Bradley was there, however, and all he did was glare towards Kylan, who gulped and stared elsewhere.

When he left P.E class, he marched towards his locker to find Ella standing there, her arms crossed. However, one thing that was odd is when Bradley marched past them, Ella smiled in his direction and winked, which Bradley did the same back. Kylan had noticed that but did not ask questions, although he found it quite weird. However, if there were anything, Ella would inform him.

As they headed for the cafeteria, Kylan did not cross paths with Jonah at all. Even as they sat within their habitual seats, Jonah was nowhere in sight. It was no until halfway through that Jonah entered the cafeteria, and his eyes wandered around the students before finally meeting Kylan's. With a bright smile that Kylan had never witnessed before, he approached them and took a seat beside Kylan.

He placed a kiss on Kylan's cheek before deposing his bag, opening his lunch. "I went ahead and grabbed myself some food since I was off school property," he said with ease.

Kylan frowned, "You left school property?" Jonah nodded, taking a bite from his burger. "Did you have something to do?"

Jonah nodded, "Yea, don't worry too much about it."

Kylan scratched the back of his neck, "I wasn't really worried. By the way," he bit his bottom lip nervously before asking, "who was that girl that came to the class this morning?" Jonah took another bite from his burger and shrugged his shoulders, "What girl?"

Kylan frowned, his neck pulling back and glancing towards Ella, who rapidly grabbed her belongings and dismissed herself without saying another word. Jonah remained confused as he chewed on his lunch.

"The girl that came in first period, and you left with her," Kylan replied stressfully, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips.

Jonah nodded his head, "I didn't know you had seen her."

He did not continue after that, and Kylan raised an eyebrow, "Who was she?"

"Nothing for you to worry about." Jonah finished his burger and threw the rest into a garbage bin nearby.

Kylan was quite stressed about the situation and wanted answers, "I am worried though—"

"You're interrogating me as if I cheated or something," Jonah suddenly snapped, narrowing his eyes at Kylan as he wiped his mouth from crumbs. "She's just a fucking girl, alright? Relax."

Kylan felt insecure and quite anxious about the situation, but the sudden aggressive tone from Jonah had caught him off-guard, that he nodded his head and lowered his eyes. When Jonah noticed the change in body posture, he sighed and leaned forward over the table, his fingers pressing on Kylan's chin and raising it just a bit to meet his lips. He kissed him for a short moment, and Kylan felt flustered when he pulled apart.

"I didn't mean to yell at you," Jonah murmured, returning to his seat.

Kylan nodded his head, "It's alright."

"I'll treat you after school."

"I have a lot of homework-"

"Your homework will have to wait," Jonah laughed. However, he leaned forward and lowered his voice, seductively biting his bottom lip as he muttered, "I need you tonight." Kylan's heart rose to his throat, and he felt as if he was going to burst into flames. "O-okay," he replied softly.

With a wink, Jonah stood from the seat, and the bell rang simultaneously.
