However, even if Aurelia was treated so contemptuously, she had to endure it for the sake of Michael. 

The lessons from her previous life had made her understand that momentary humiliation was nothing compared to the future humiliations that would be endless if she could not bear even one. 

Her mindset calmed down with this thought, and she slowly raised her head, smiling slightly as she asked, “May I ask who you are? It was Mr. Jacob Miller who arranged for me to meet him here!” 

“He’s not here, but you can tell me whatever you want!” 

A hint of surprise flashed in Hayden’s eyes. He thought. “This woman seems extraordinary indeed! Although she had felt extremely humiliated just a moment ago, she had managed to suppress it completely and now smiled at me gracefully as if nothing had happened. This is interesting! She isn’t a bimbo.” 

It was precisely because of this conclusion that Hayden uttered the latter half of his sentence. Otherwise, he would have just sent Aurelia away and would not have kindly agreed to help her solve her problems, even though Jacob had asked him for the favor over the phone. 

When Aurelia heard that he was not Jacob, she subtly glanced through his side and noticed no signs of other people inside the living room. It was quiet, with no music or noise. Immediately, a tinge of disappointment flashed in her heart. 

She thought. “It seems Jacob didn’t really care about the meeting. Although I had arranged this meeting through Channing, it was still the state governor’s son who agreed to meet me. Agreeing to meet me would have been a gesture of face, while not agreeing to meet me wouldn’t have been an unexpected outcome. Since this is the case, I can only implement the second plan. It is a bit troublesome and less effective but better than nothing.” 

After contemplating this in her mind, Aurelia smiled politely and bid farewell. “Thank you! Since Mr. Miller is not here. I’ll take my leave!” 

After saying that, she turned around to leave without any hesitation. 

Hayden was taken aback. He had not expected this woman to leave so decisively and quickly. After all, according to the usual practice, when someone came knocking on their door, they usually had a request. Even if Jacob were not there, he would still try to please and flatter the people around him. 

Seeing Aurelia like this, who left without a single word of flattery, Hayden found it quite unprecedented. 

So much so that Aurelia’s high heels had already taken several steps before Hayden suddenly reacted and exclaimed, “Wait! Stop!” 

Aurelia halted her steps, turned her head back, and showed a perfectly surprised expression. “Is there something else?” 

After seeing her composed demeanor, Hayden realized he had been too eager and had lost his composure. He immediately regained his calm. 

Crossing his arms and leaning against the door, he wore a smirk on his lips, tinged with irony and a seemingly understanding of Aurelia’s bottom line. “You’re quite a clever person. I almost fell for your trick!” 

These words caused a change in Aurelia’s facial expression. She knew that this tall man in front of her had seen through her inner thoughts. 

However, her panic was only momentary. In the blink of an eye, she regained her composure and smiled naturally. She should have known that these political scions, who appeared unruly and trash, were not worthless at all. But in areas where they needed to be astute, they were astute to the extreme. 

Even though the political scions did not hold official positions, the fact that they were the sons of the state governors meant that they had grown up amidst the political winds from a young age. 

They would have been inept individuals if they were only capable of being foolhardy, playing with female celebrities, and

Jacob was the only son of Damian Miller, the state governor of Nuthana, Jacob, Nuthana’s top wealthy scion, was clearly not one of those inept individuals. 

Although Aurelia had not had the honor of meeting someone like Jacob in her previous life, she had heard quite a few 

rumors about him. 

Besides that, Jacob’s self–established Jacob Logistics was famous throughout Tospait. 

Others might think his success was simply due to his father being a state governor. 

However, Aurelia carefully studied Jacob’s rise to wealth and discovered that the latter was not just a hedonist relying on his family’s shelter. Instead, he had his own extraordinary shrewdness and methods. 

Of course, when the opportunity presented itself, Jacob would not waste it and would openly display his identity as the top officials offspring.
