The Elements

Chapter It's my fault

“Are you going to be okay?” Sparky asked worried.

“Yes Sparky. For the fifth time, I’m going to be perfectly fine. The boys will be here all the weekend. Go and have fun with your aunties.”

She was looking at me with doubt. “Shadow. I can cancel it if you’re not feeling well.”

I rolled my eyes. “Woman! Which part from I’ll be fine you don’t understand?? I appreciate that you are worried for me, but you have your own life so go and live it!” I started to push her out of our bedroom.

“Fine. But if something is wrong or you feel very bad call me or I’ll strangle you when I’ll come back.” she said defeated.

I smiled in victory. “Yeah, yeah. Just go already. I’m sure your aunt is already here. Go and have fun but don’t forget about me, even when I doubt you, I’m no good without you!!” I sang and hugged her.

She shook her head but smiled and hugged me back. “You and your obsession with Twenty one pilots.”

“Shut up. You’re ruining the moment.”

“Whatever.” she said and hugged me tighter.

“Come on Sparkling thing. You aren’t moving in another world. You are just leaving for the weekend. Cut the drama because your aunt is here.” Flame said with an eye roll.

“Fuck you with a toothbrush. Bye Shads. I’ll miss you.” she said and waved at me.

“Bye my little Spark. I’ll miss you too!!” I yelled after her because she was already out of the apartment.

I sighed and jumped on the couch with a yawn. Sparky left to spend the weekend with her auntie from her mother side. I was happy that she has at last two alive relatives, except her big brother that is missing. Exactly like my 3 brothers. I found out that I’m the littlest one from the whole family. Yay, no. This means that I have 7 big and overprotective brothers and I should be happy but I’m not. Why? Because they start to worry from every little thing. Now they all are worried for me and Lincoln because we look sick and like freaking zombies. No, we are not sick. We have just nightmares. Three days in a row I had nightmares. Three fucking days! I look like a zombie and I feel like one. Lincoln is in the same condition as me and to make things more bad, we have similar dreams. Same garden, same woman, same script. Kids playing outside, darks appearing out of nowhere, woman or man coming out to get the kids into the house, darks attacking then wake up screaming. The only different thing is the characters. In his dreams, he sees every time the same boy with different other kids while I see the same girl with different kids. He thinks that those nightmares are not actually nightmares. He thinks that they are memories coming back to us. I don’t want that to be true, but it makes sense. The girl I see, it’s actually me and the boy he sees is actually him. The woman and the man are our parents and the other kids are our brothers.

I sighed again while rubbing my face.

“You okay there?”

I looked up to see Black staring at me with a tell-me-what’s-going-on-now. He tried the whole week to make me talk but let’s be honest! We are talking about me here.

“Yeah. Just a little tired.” A little more but I won’t tell him.

He scoffed. “You look like crap. Do you think I’m stupid to believe you?”

“Yes?” why it sounded like a question?

“Well, I’m not.” he walks and takes a seat next to me. “We will stay here until you tell me what’s wrong.”

I rolled my eyes. “Then go and take your pillow, blanket and some food ’cause my lips are sealed.

He starts to glare at me. “Why aren’t you telling me?”

“Because I don’t trust you.” I said almost immediately.

“Why? I’m that bad?” he asked with furrowed eyebrows.

He looked cute with that face. Like a very cute puppy.

NOO. Bad Shadow. He is a bad guy and we don’t trust bad guys even if they have puppy faces.

“Because you are a dark. That’s why. And don’t try to deny it because I know you are.”

“How?” he sounded like he was about to win this argument, but, this time, I have a good answer.

“Because it looks like I have a....let’s call it instinct that helps me figure out what element a person has or if they are a dark or not. And you Black stink like a dark.” I said tapping my finger on his toned chest.

He grabbed my hand and glared at me. “Then your instinct it’s wrong. I’m not a dark. You saw me using my power and it was red like Sparky and Flame not black like how it should be if I was a dark.”

“I don’t know how you did that but I still think you are a dark.” I said and pulled my hand away.

“Think what you want. I don’t care. I don’t even know why I’m trying to be friend with a weird bitch like you.” he spitted in my face.

That hurt. That really hurt. He just called me the thing that everyone used to when I was human. Every single day that was the thing I heard more than 10 times per day and it hurts because I thought that he was my friend and he wasn’t such a big jackass. How wrong I was.

I think he saw the hurt I had on my face because his face softens. “I didn’t mean-”

“Yes you fucking did! You fucking meant every single word! Don’t try to say other wise!” I yelled angry and stood up from my seat.

He tried to catch my hand by I docked away. “No! I didn’t! I was just angry.”

I let out a dry laugh. “That’s the thing Black. When people are angry they say the things they are thinking without debating the consequences. So you mean it.” I said with a neutral face and ran into my room.

I put my earphones on and raised the volume so high that I couldn’t even hear my own breath. You know what they say. Blast the music until you can’t feel a fucking thing. And that’s exactly what I did. I stayed locked up in my room until the moon rises were brushing Arnold’s leafs and my face.

My stomach growled so I decided that a midnight snack would be a good idea. I slowly tip toed in the kitchen and opened the fridge. After a 10 minutes of mental debate I took an already made chicken sandwich and a can of coke. I walked back into my room and gulped down the coke and devoured the sandwich in five minutes.

I sighed when I saw that it was already midnight. We all know that after a fiesta a siesta is more then welcomed. I cuddled in my sheets and closed my eyes.

“Night Arnold.” I mumbled and drifted to sleep in a second.

I looked around and I was once again in the same garden as ever. I was dreaming.

I sighed because I know that I can’t wake up. I started to watch the scene in front of me. The girl was playing football with 2 of her brothers. The 3 of them look similar. Like me, Lincoln and Sky. Three other boys were cheering for them from a bench. They look like River, Flame and the last one looked exactly like Sky so he must be Sam.

Wow. He looks exactly like Sky with black hair and blue-green eyes while I look exactly like Lincoln with ash blonde hair and blue-green eyes. We look more like 2 pairs of twins then quadruplets but that’s life.

I smiled when I saw how happy the kids were. How happy I was with my brothers. But every beautiful moment comes to an end. Suddenly, the sky was grey and the woman and the man came running out of the house.

“Kids, you need to get inside. Now.” the man said with authority.

“But why daddy?” the little girl asked.

“The bad guys are back and I don’t want my princess to disappear. Now go with your brothers.” the man said and kept glancing at the woods.

Darks started to came out.

“But I don’t want to daddy. This princess wants to protect her kingdom.” she said stubborn and starts to run in the direction of the darks.

No!

“Princess come back! Don’t go there! It’s dangerous!” the man starts to run after her while the woman gets the other kids inside.

“Don’t be stupid little one! Come back!” Flame or River yelled after her.

“NO! I’ll scare them away forever! I don’t want this meanies to make mommy and daddy sad again!” she yelled still running in their direction.

One of the dark snarled at her and she freezes. “Let’s see what you can do, princess.”

No!

She starts to scream when the dark lunges at her. The beast was about to bite her but the man pulled her out his way so the dark bites him.

“DADDY!” she screams and starts to cry.

“Go inside princess. I’ll be fine. Go inside because you need to rule your kingdom when you grow up. Go and protect your brothers!” the man smiled at her after he punched the dark.

“I’ll go daddy! For you! I promise to protect my kingdom and my brothers with my life!” she screams and runs still crying.

While she was running 2 darks jumped in front of her and growled making her scream.

NO!

They were about to slice her in two but the man and woman jumped in front of the girl and took the hit for her.

“MOMMY! DADDY!” she screamed when their bodies fall on the ground life less.

No.

The girl ran to her parents and hugged them both. “Don’t leave me. Please.” she said hysterical.

“We will always be there for you even if you don’t see us. Now, you will forget everything that happened until today. You and your brothers.” the woman said caressing the girl’s cheek.

“No mommy. I won’t forget.”

“Yes, you will. Trust mommy. I love you my baby. You and your brothers.” the woman said and closed her eyes.

No!

‘Shadow.’

“I love you too princess. Take care of my princes and my kingdom for me.” the man said and closed his eyes too.

No!

‘Shadow!’

“MOMMY DADDY NO!!!” the girl started to shake them and when she tried to her their pulse, she heard nothing.

NO!! PLEASE NO! PLEASE! NO!

‘SHADOW!’

I bolted awake still screaming ‘Please no’.

“It’s okay. You are okay. Everything will be okay.” someone said and hugged me.

I looked at that person and it was Black. “No it won’t!” I yelled and started to cry harder.

I was the reason my parents died. They died because of me. It’s my fault. I killed them.

He hugged my tighter. “Yes it will be. I’m here. It’s okay. It was just a nightmare.”

“NO! It wasn’t! It fucking wasn’t! A-and they died because of me! It’s my fault! Everything is my fault!” I was sobbing and banging my head on his shoulder.

I was stopped by a hand. “It’s not your fault. You couldn’t prevent that. Stop blaming yourself and calm down. Please.” he added softly.

I don’t know why but I calmed down a little after he told me to. I stopped sobbing but the tears were still streaming down my face.

“It’s not your fault dummy. You did nothing wrong. You are a good person. Well, when you aren’t a bitch or hungry but you get my point.” he said stroking my hair.

I managed to chuckle a little. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. You have all the rights to don’t trust me.”

“I know.” I said and we both chuckled.

I felt him shaking his head. “You are unbelievable.” he said and I can hear the smile in his voice.

“I know that to.....” I was starting to feel sleepy.

I think he sensed that because he said “You need to go to sleep. I’m more than sure that you haven’t a decent sleep for more then 2 days.”

“Let’s make them 4.” I mumbled half asleep.

He sighs. “You should told me or the guys about your nightmares. We will discuss this tomorrow. Now go to sleep.”

He tried to get up but I hugged him tighter. “Please don’t leave me alone.” I hated how my voice cracked at the final, but I really don’t want to be alone right now. To be honest, I’m expecting a dark to jump from anywhere and kill me with a snap of a finger.

“Okay. I won’t.” he said softly and putted the blanket on us.

I was so scared that I was staring blankly at the window even if I could barely keep my eyes open.

I heard him sigh. “Light, nothing is going to happen. I promise you that. You can sleep because I’ll protect you from everything.” he said and it sounded like a promise.

I wanted to tell him to not make promises that he can’t keep, but instead I turned my head around and rested it on his chest.

I hope you will keep your promise Black.

That was my last thought before I drifted into a long forgotten peaceful sleep.
