Chapter 220 Manipulative Woman

"That's not necessarily true!" Eve raised her eyebrows at Ranita, drawing out her tone as she hummed, "Our Ranita is beautiful and talented, excellent in every way. Maybe the senior has already noticed you!"

"Looks like you're acting again. Keep making things up!" Ranita laughed.

She had spent an afternoon with Eve at the hospital and when she saw that it was almost time to leave, she picked up her bag and headed for the door.

But just as she walked to the elevator, she saw someone she didn't want to see.

Shannon sat on a wheelchair with a look of grievance on her face. "Ranita! What a coincidence!"

"I'm sorry if I disturbed you today." Pausing for a moment, Shannon asked again worriedly, "I accidentally fainted. Did I break anything in your house? If something is damaged, I'll pay for it."

Ranita replied indifferently, "No need."

After speaking, Ranita walked directly into the elevator without looking back. "Miss Murphy, you can take the next one if you don't hurry up," she said coldly.

"Wait a moment!" Shannon anxiously reached out, "Brendon is coming soon. Let's wait!"

Ranita had no desire to see them in a lovey-dovey situation, so she pressed the close door button. "Sorry, I'm in a hurry! Miss Murphy, take the next elevator."

"Ranita!" Shannon insisted on blocking the door and even ignored the safety concerns, reaching out her hand.

"Shannon! What are you doing? It's dangerous!" Just then, Brendon arrived in time and pulled Shannon's hand back.

The elevator doors, responding to the automatic sensor, reopened.

Ranita met Brendon's eyes, and he seemed surprised. "What are you doing here?"

"Visiting a friend!"

While talking, Brendon pushed Shannon into the elevator. The space inside became a bit crowded. Brendon stood next to Ranita, and his hand lightly touched hers.

Ranita moved away.

His hand came back a bit, grabbing her fingers and scratching her palm a few times.

It tickled.

Ranita glared at Brendon from the corner of her eye, only to find Brendon looking at her with starry eyes, a hint of a smile at the corners of his eyes.

Instantly half of Ranita's anger dissipated.

"Why didn't you tell me that you were coming here?" Brendon asked softly.

"I came to see my friend. There wasn't much else to say." After a pause, Ranita looked at Shannon, a smirk playing on her lips as she said with a hint of sarcasm, "Besides, Miss Murphy is not feeling well and needs someone to take care of her. I won't disturb you any longer."

"Ranita, don't be angry!" Shannon immediately interjected, speaking softly and weakly. "The doctor said I have low blood sugar. I didn't faint on purpose!"

"Thank goodness Brendon doesn't mind me being a burden. Otherwise, I would be so heartbroken!"

Ranita's anger flared up again.

Shannon was really nauseating with her constant whining.

Brendon furrowed his brow but didn't say anything. He lightly tapped Ranita's hand with his fingers.

Ranita wanted to shake it off in anger but seeing Shannon's face she grabbed Brendon's hand and leaned against him saying, "Miss Murphy, you're overthinking things! Brendon watched you grow up and sees you as a little sister. If he isn't angry, then there is no reason for me to be either! It's just a table. If it breaks or gets dirty, we can throw it away."

Shannon was seething inside.

She wanted to rush over and immediately pry open Ranita's hand but pretending to be weak while sitting in the wheelchair made that difficult.

Shannon pouted her lips and stared at them with big innocent eyes saying, "It's good that you aren't angry. It's all my fault for being so unlucky every day which makes Brendon worry about me so much and spend so much time accompanying me. I feel really guilty."
