The Divorcee and Her Three Chaotic Children

Chapter 171

Chapter 171
As William scoured each floor, from top to bottom, room by room, Olivia was nowhere to be found.
Ever since stepping into the building, his phone had been dead, the signal cut off.
It made him feel more and more like a massive trap.
And he was the prey that had been ensnared.
But he’d made it here. So why was there no sign of the perpetrator?
Where could Olivia possibly be?
Just as frustration threatened to take over, a fleeting shadow caught his eye in the distance. His instincts urged him to give
chase, but an abrupt, blaring alarm echoed through the corridor.
It was the fire alarm of the building.
The alarm made William stunned.
Subconsciously, he became alert.
Refocusing on the last direction the figure had taken, he spotted two taut golden threads stretched across the hallway.
If he’d charged over on impulse earlier, then he would have definitely been injured by the golden threads.
What a sinister trap.
In other words, the fire alarm had been triggered on purpose. Could it be...
William seemed to be deep in thought. His gaze darted to the corridor’s surveillance camera, suspicion growing.
Pushing forward, William deftly cut through the golden threads with his dagger.
Lone Wolf!
He was just looking for him!
A dark shadow crossed William’s eyes as he pressed on, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “For an international killer, you sure
have a taste for amateur tricks, so childish.”
As William cautiously advanced, his voice echoed through the corridor, trying to gauge Lone Wolf’s position.
He ripped off his tie, winding it around his wrist, and subconsciously flexed his neck, gearing up for a confrontation.
“Too scared to face me now? I never took you for a coward!”
As William walked, he carefully observed his surroundings.
When he reached the stairs, several cold lights suddenly shot out, and then several shimmering golden threads flew at him.
William waved his dagger and blocked the golden thread. Then, he threw the dagger in the direction of the stairs at an extremely
fast speed.
The dagger halted in mid-air, caught by its target. Lone Wolf stepped into the light.

“Mr. Kinsman, we meet again,” Lone Wolf said, a mischievous grin on his face.
William noticed the blood stains on him, a pang of concern overtaking him.
“Are you injured?
“Where is Olivia?”
Feigning surprise, Lone Wolf replied, “Worried about me, Mr. Kinsman?” He chuckled, his laughter tinged with madness.
“I remember saying that if I want to kill a person, I will never fail. If I can’t kill him on the first time, I will kill him on the second
time. If I fail twice, I will pester him for the rest of my life until he willingly step into hell.
“So, Mr. Kinsman, are you ready to step into hell?”
Lone Wolf laughed wildly.
“If you want to kill me, come get me. Using a defenseless lady as bait? That’s beneath you.”
“Are you crazy, William? A defenseless lady? She almost sent me away with a dagger?” Lone Wolf retorted, unconvinced.
“So, you are indeed injured.” Thankfully, the blood wasn’t Olivia’s.

Chapter 171
When Lone Wolf saw William’s sigh of relief, he knew he had been played like a fiddle.
He was quite miffed about it.
“Don’t worry, your sweetheart’s safe for now, but in ten minutes, that could change.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“It’s clear as day, my friend. An eye for an eye. She stabbed me, so I tucked a bomb on her. Fair’s fair, right?”
“You’re playing with fire, Lone Wolf!”
“Hey! Cool your jets. You’ve got ten minutes. You can either find your love and say goodbyes or waste time trying to catch
me...”
Before Lone Wolf could finish his sentence, William was already on the move, running to find Olivia.
“Bring him in alive, Marshall!”
“Yes, Mr. Kinsman!”
As soon as William flashed into the stairwell, Marshall led the special forces of the Kinsman family from all directions and
surrounded Lone Wolf.
“You cheated, William!”
As an international killer, Lone Wolf naturally could see the strength of his opponent. When he saw the people surrounding him,
he understood that it was hopeless for him to escape today, so he couldn’t help but say angrily.
“An eye for an eye!”

William’s voice echoed back from the stairwell, as he continued his descent.
He had searched all the floors upstairs with Marshall, and the only place he had not found yet was the basement.
Reaching the stairwell’s security door, William noticed a wooden stick barring it. Someone clearly didn’t want what was inside to
get out.
He removed the wooden stick, opened the door, and stepped inside.
As soon as he entered the door, he spotted Olivia on the floor.
“Olivia!”
Panic took him as he rushed over, lifting her, holding her close. Only when he felt her breath did he let himself breathe again.
“Wake up, Olivia, wake up!”
William pleaded, shaking her gently and trying to wake her up.
That’s when he noticed the blinking bracelet on her wrist.
His heart sank as he touched the screen of the bracelet to wake it up.
There was a nine-minute countdown on it.
Following an almost invisible golden thread, he found a black bandage tightly bound to Olivia’s arm—a bomb.
It was the bomb that Lone Wolf had placed on Olivia.
There were explosives hidden in the bandages tied to Olivia, and the bracelet used to monitor her health data had been modified
into a time counter.
The two were connected by the golden thread, tethered to the steady heartbeat of Olivia Clarke. Should the explosives be
tampered with or Olivia’s heart cease its rhythm, the bomb would detonate.
Watching the countdown numbers dwindle, William’s heart raced in tandem.
He began to understand what Lone Wolf meant.
Lone Wolf recognized the depth of William’s feelings for Olivia. He knew William would never abandon her.
So he gave Olivia a chance to live.
The bomb, crafted ingeniously, used her heartbeat as its fulcrum.
With utmost care and swiftness, William could transfer the explosive-laden bracelet from Olivia to himself.
By doing so, he’d seal his fate, and Lone Wolf would maintain his flawless record.

Chapter 171
“Two birds, one stone,” William thought.
It was a high-stakes game of chess.
Thankfully, in this dangerous game, Lone Wolf had granted Olivia a potential escape route.

A sense of gratitude welled up in William.
Gently, he laid Olivia on the ground. He then meticulously shifted the bracelet onto his wrist.
The instant the bracelet clicked shut, relief washed over William as he settled onto the ground.
“Thank heavens, the clock’s still ticking,” he thought. With eight precious minutes left, he had one last opportunity to bid her
farewell.
