Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Joshua’s phone rang.
It was from Gloria.
Joshua hesitated for a moment but answered the call.
“Joshua, I’m sorry… I lost my temper in the company today. I regret it. It’s all my fault. I’m not mature enough. I made improper remarks out of impulse and anger… I promise that I won’t make the same mistake again. Please, forgive me this time, okay? Joshua… I beg you….”
On the other end of the phone, Gloria had already cried so much that her sweet voice had become hoarse.
If Joshua got angry with her and cut off their relationship, everything she had would turn into nothingness.
She had been with Joshua for six years and had never seen him get so mad at her before.
She knew that for such excellent men like Joshua, women were only his accessories. He didn’t want women to interfere with his company affairs.
She had acted too impetuously and caused big trouble!
She was very scared and desperate.
She had thought about it all night and cried all night. Besides apologizing to Joshua on the phone while crying, she didn’t know how to win back his heart.
Gloria’s weeping voice made Joshua even more agitated.
“Gloria, enough! I’ll let you go this time. You better behave yourself and stay away from me,” Joshua said in an icy tone and hung up the phone.
But he became even more depressed.
Damn it. He had suffered a loss from Christy, yet he could only regain his confidence from Gloria.
Why did some women do everything to get close to him, hoping to sleep with him?
But some ignored his charm and tried to drive him away?
Looking at Joshua’s ever–changing expression and his different attitudes toward the two women, Terence seemed to have understood something again. The smile on the corner of his mouth became even more intriguing.
Gloria sat in front of the dressing table, looking at her haggard face in the mirror.
Her eyes were swollen, and there were still tears in her eyes, but she smiled grimly.
Although Joshua hung up the phone on her very coldly, it gave her hope!
Joshua forgave her!
She could still stay by his side.
But she had to be more careful in the future…
“Christy, you almost made me lose Joshua. It’s not my style if I don’t take revenge! Just wait and see! I won’t let you off easy!” Gloria sneered.
In the mirror, she looked like a poisonous woman, completely devoid of the sunny and beautiful temperament in the poster..
In the ward.
Christy was really hungry. She hadn’t eaten anything since noon!
The aroma of the food on the table wafted over, and the temptation of the food made her stomach rumble.
Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Alan felt great sorrow for Christy.
He had been waiting for her all the time, with the purpose of giving her a surprise.
He reached out his hand to Christy and opened it up to reveal a ruby ring lying in his palm. With a face full of anticipation, he said to Christy.
“Mommy, after kindergarten today, I saw a ring next to the trash can that looked exactly like the one you drew. Yet I was afraid that Victoria would say I was dirty, so I quietly picked it up when she wasn’t paying attention. I’ve washed it! I promise it won’t smell. You can have this though it’s not Grandma’s keepsake. Mommy, please don’t be sad, okay?”
In fact. Alan sneaked into the Osborn family and stole it. He cleverly made a story up so as not to be scolded by Christy.
Anyway, he really did find it in the trash can in Gloria’s room.
Christy took a closer look and was shocked.
The ring had been with her for over a decade, and she would never mistake it. It was indeed the keepsake her mother left for her.
Christy never expected Gloria to throw it away. That was way out of line.
Luckily, fate was on her side, and the ring found its way back to Christy.
The feeling of regaining what was lost was truly wonderful!
Christy planted a kiss on Alan’s face and said with heartfelt emotion,
“Alan, thank you so much. This is really my mom’s keepsake! But, can you promise me that you won’t go through the trash cans anymore? It’s really dirty, and you’ll get sick if the bacteria get into your stomach! Although the ring is valuable, it’s just a ring. For me, the
greatest comfort is to see you and Clara healthy,” Christy said with a serious tone, but a clear smile was visible in her tired eyes.
“Okay, Mommy, I will listen to you,” Alan obediently promised Christy.
He could tell that Christy was happy because the ring had been found.
And if Christy was happy, Alan was happy too.
It was worth the adventure he took to the Osborn family the day before.
At that time, Christy didn’t know that her son had been secretly trained as a little spy by Bruce since Alan was very young. Alan’s glorious deeds in the future would not only include sneaking into the Osborn family.
The next day, Christy went to work.
“Can you believe Christy still has the balls to come back?”
“If it were me, I would have resigned!”
“Gloria is a nice person. I guess she didn’t pursue it with Christy. Otherwise, wouldn’t the police have taken Christy away? How could she still be working?”
Christy’s colleagues looked at Christy with a gaze as if they were looking at a monster.
In fact, those people didn’t say anything wrong. Christy was basically “shameless.” She had long been immune to those contemptuous looks.
What she did first was to send the plan she wrote the day before to Ernest.
Ernest thought that the impossible task would have completely crushed Christy. He thought Christy would come up with some nonsensical content just to get by. Ernest had thought all night about how he would lecture Christy, even deciding on the words he would use, but when he finished reading Christy’s plan, he was completely stunned!
Christy’s plan was even better than his, and he was the planning manager!
How could Christy possibly have written it?
Just then, Ernest’s phone rang.
It was Joshua’s secretary, Lorene.
“Ms. Nixon, good morning. What can I do for you?” Ernest answered the call nervously.
“Mr. Melendez has decided to discuss the plan for the international jewelry exhibition in Ivekas City next month in the conference room in 10 minutes. Mr. Boone, please be prepared.” Lorene’s voice was indifferent on the other end of the phone.
Ernest was startled. He hadn’t prepared anything!
