The Almighty Lord Caspian by Cath Nitfisch

Chapter 758

Chapter 758 Investigation

Jerry explained, “The Masseys lost Caspian 20 years ago while they were on the
run. As for what exactly happened, I've only heard rumors that it was because
some very important person mentioned to the king that the Masseys were
plotting to rebel against Diatoran.”

Zane asked, “Dad, do you have any idea on how to prevent Caspian and Logan
from reconciling?”

Jerry laughed and replied, “That's easy. With the king being basically a puppet for
us to control, we can just have His Majesty lie and sow discord between Caspian
and Logan.”

“What a great idea, Dad!”

Meanwhile, at Riverside Villa, Caspian was already asleep when his phone
started ringing.

He picked up the phone and saw that the caller was Laina.

Caspian accepted the call and asked, “Hello, Laina? Why are you calling me at a
time like this?

Laina asked, “Sorry to bother you in the middle of the night, but can we talk right
now?”

Laina wouldn't bother Caspian in the middle of the night if not for reporting
something very important.

Caspian replied, “Just tell me about it.”

Willow was also woken up by the phone call. She quietly watched from the side
as Caspian continued to talk with Laina.

Caspian went straight to business with Laina as he didn't want to cause any
misunderstandings with Willow.

He knew that she was especially sensitive to such matters.

Caspian had nothing to hide, but he didn’t want to cause unnecessary drama
with Willow.

Laina reported, “I found out about what happened at the King's residence during
the night he was attacked.”

“What is it?"

“A group of uninvited guests appeared at the residence that night. And all of the
guards at the mansion were killed in battle.”

Caspian was shocked.

He had already guessed that was what had happened, but he was still surprised
to learn that Laina’s report confirmed it all.

Caspian asked, “Anything else?”

Laina replied, “Task Force Rose has already concluded the investigation. We
found that the assassination was organized by the Andrews family.”

“Those bastards! It really is them!”

It was just as Caspian had already guessed, except that he didn't have any
evidence back then.

“That's right. The Andrews family rebelled against Diatoran when you were away
at Filren.

“Jerry, that bastard! I'm going to kill him!”

Laina explained, “The Andrews family had been plotting for a very long time.
They are also the ones who founded Skyarch Palace.”

Caspian replied, “I see. I never even noticed just how much they've been plotting
since the beginning.”

He had always assumed that Jerry was just causing trouble because of their
difference in personalities. He never expected that the latter would actually be
plotting such bold moves behind his back.

Laina continued, “That's right. Everything that happened recently is related to
Jerry, one way or another. More so when he immediately convinced the king to
depose you after he became the advisor. He had done so to prevent anyone else
from threatening him.”

Caspian replied, “I knew it! So the king really was being threatened.”

However, he didn’t understand why Balthazar didn't just ask him for help if he
was being threatened by Jerry.

Regardless, Caspian decided that he would rescue Balthazar no matter what.
Laina was confused. “But the king seems to be extremely compliant to every
request from Jerry instead of asking for help. It's weird.

“His Majesty would do everything Jerry advised him to do. For example, the
peace talk with Filren was all Jerry's doing.”

Caspian asked, “I've always felt that something was wrong! Have you found out
what it is that would make the king be so compliant with Jerry?”

“Lord Caspian, we've already gathered enough evidence to prove that Jerry had
been controlling the king. We can move out anytime to eliminate the Andrews
family and rescue His Majesty!”

“It's not that easy. Jerry's the king's trusted advisor, and his sons are both
relatively high-ranking officers now.”

Laina replied, “But Lord Caspian, you still command quite a huge amount of
respect among Diatoranian troops. You only need to say the word, and all four
Champions will be here to help!”

Casplan explained, “It's not as easy as you think. I may be good friends with the
Champions, but they aren't going to listen to my every whim. They might event
think that I'm trying to start a rebellion if I ask them for help directly.”

“Then, what should we do? I've also heard that Jerry had sent an envoy for the
peace talk with Filren. But the Filrenian envoy made very excessive demands,
including for Diatoran to cede the entire West Aridlands to Filren!”

Caspian took a moment to analyze the current situation. “I feel rather helpless
right now. If only I still had my armored battalion with me, I would have already
made my way to the Andrews residence.

“The only option we have now is to find out what it is that Jerry had on the king to
be able to control him like that. As long as His Majesty gave the order, all four
Champions would have been able to fight back!”

Laina replied, “I understand. I'll try to find out the truth as soon as possible.”
Caspian hung up the call.

Willow then asked, “The Andrews family is holding the king hostage?”

She had heard the entire conversation between Caspian and Laina.

Caspian was furious. “That's right. I can't believe it's the Andrews family. Damn
it!”

He didn’t intend to hide anything from Willow.

Willow replied, “I've always wondered why the king suddenly dismissed you from
your post. It turns out His Majesty is also in danger himself.”

“Don't worry

The Andrews family will face justice soon!”

“Do you have a plan?”

+15 BONOS

“I can only wait for Laina to finish her investigation and find out what Jerry is
using to threaten the king before I form a plan.”

“You have to be careful. I'm sure Jerry will still be sending assassins after you.
He must be extremely cautious of your return, especially with the entire country
asking for your reinstatement as the Diatoranian God of War.”

Caspian replied, “I know. But you don’t need to worry about this.”

The couple then went back to sleep.

The next day, Jerry sent out his envoy to continue the negotiation with the Filren.
envoy, at West Aridlands.

Filren refused to budge with their demands.

And Diatoran was not going to agree to their outrageous requests.

The negotiation remained in a stalemate.

The Andrews family’s actions had caused the Diatoranians to become outraged.
They were immensely disappointed that the Andrews family would have Diatoran
lower its head to an enemy country.

Patriots began to lead protests across the country.

Discussions and rumors around the Andrews family became a hot topic within.
Diatoran.

Jerry assigned his men to round up all of the protest leaders.

He had chosen the Skyarch Palace men to enact the dirty work.

They captured all of the civilians who had led the protests across the country and
beat them into submission.

Eventually, the citizens of Diatoran stopped going out into the streets to join the
protects as they were worried that they might he killed
