The Adventures of Emily Tual: Camp Adventures Book Two

Chapter Chapter Eight

Bastet could see the clubhouse. It was finally time to get rid of the Chosen One before the Man with the German Accent could claim that honor. Her claws were itching to scratch the chosen one to death. Bastet reached the door to the clubhouse. It was time. Just as she was about to open the door, she disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Bastet reappeared in a different place. She looked around. She was surrounded by trees everywhere she looked. She couldn’t believe it. She had been so close to finally getting rid of the chosen one and someone had gotten in her way. “Did you really think that I was going to let you get rid of the child?” Bastet hissed and spun around. The Man with the German Accent was standing there. He wasn’t alone. He had at least ten Black Hands with him. Their guns were all pointed at her. The Man with the German Accent smiled. “Dear Bastet. You will never be able to get rid of the child.”

Bastet glared at the Man with the German Accent. “She must die if our master is to rise up and conquer this world.” She told him.

The Man with the German Accent nodded. “And she will die.” He replied. “But however she won’t die by your hand and she won’t die today.” He raised his cane and the top of it glowed black. “The only one who will die today is you.” He fired black energy at Bastet. Bastet jumped back and hissed. At that moment, all ten Black Hands fired their guns at her.

Bastet jumped up into a tree and disappeared into the branches. The Man with the German Accent and his Black Hands looked at each other. Before any of them could do anything, a sharpened stick came out of the tree and impaled a Black Hand. “Hide!” The Man with the German Accent shouted as the impaled Black Hand fell to the ground dead. His remaining Black Hands and he ran to take cover. Another Black Hand fell to the ground, a stake in his back. The remaining eight Black Hands and the Man with the German Accent managed to hide behind trees before any of them could get impaled.

“Fire back at her!” The Man with the German Accent ordered his Black Hands. The Black Hands peeked out from behind their trees and started firing at the tree that Bastet was hiding in. They were firing at the branches, trying to hit the cat. They could see the branches moving constantly. “Sir, we’re not hitting her!” One of the Black Hands said before he got impaled by a sharpened stick.

The Man with the German Accent gritted his teeth and aimed his cane at the tree. The top of it glowed blue and the branches lost their leaves, exposing Bastet. “Fire at her now!” He ordered.

The remaining seven Black Hands all fired their guns at Bastet, hitting her. Bastet howled as she fell to the ground. She had several bullet holes in her. The Man with the German Accent and his men went up to her. The Man with the German Accent scoffed at her. “It looks like I was right.” He told her. “You shall die today.” He aimed his cane at her. The top of it went from blue to black. “The child will die in a few weeks old friend.” He continued. “And when she does, then you get to torture and punish her repeatedly in the afterlife.” He smiled and fired black energy at Bastet, ending her for good.

The Man with the German Accent looked at his men. “We need to get going.” He told them. “We need to get ready for the ritual.” The eight of them left Bastet’s body behind. As they were leaving, the air around Bastet’s dead body grew dark. When the air lightened again, Bastet’s body was gone. It was like she had never been there to begin with.

Emily looked towards the door. She felt like something was wrong. Delaney noticed the frown on Emily’s face. “What is it?” She asked.

Emily looked at her cousin and shook her head. “I don’t know.” She answered. “I just feel like something is wrong.” She shook her head. It was probably nothing. She could see Delaney still looking at her out of the corner of her eye. Emily then noticed that Elizabeth and Rachel were looking at her as well. The way that they were looking at her made it clear that they weren’t just about to let her get out of this conversation.

“What’s wrong?” Elizabeth asked.

Emily looked at the door to their clubhouse. “Is it just me or do any of you feel like we just avoided something bad as well?” She asked. She was still a little bothered by there being a knock at the door and no one being there when she had opened the door.

Rachel looked at the door. “You might still just be jumpy after everything that had happened to you.” She told her big sister. She didn’t believe that but rather that Emily was right but she didn’t want to say that. She didn’t want her big sister freaking out.

Delaney looked at the door. “What bad thing would be there?” She asked. “I mean wouldn’t it make more sense for them to just break down the door and take all of us instead of just knocking?’ She did have a point but before she could say anything else, Elizabeth cut in.

“It might just be because of that bad dream that you had.” She told Emily. “I mean, if I had a nightmare like the one it sounded like you had, I would be jumpy about something like a door knocking. Isn’t it windy out? It might have just been the wind outside hitting the door.”

Elizabeth didn’t want to admit it in front of the other three but she had a feeling that whatever had knocked on the door had left before it could do whatever it had wanted to do. Emily’s kidnapping was still fresh in her mind. She knew that there was a chance that whoever had knocked at the door hadn’t been from the neighborhood. Everyone who knew about the clubhouse and was close by would always say something after knocking at the door. Whoever had knocked at the door didn’t say anything. No doubt they didn’t want their voice to be heard and if that was true, then whoever had knocked wasn’t safe.

Outside the clubhouse, the Man with the German Accent appeared. He looked at the clubhouse. He could hear the four girls talking. It sounded like they were bothered by Bastet knocking on the door. He shook his head. That stupid cat was risking everything even though she was dead. He looked towards the road. There were no signs of the Black Hand’s cars. That was good. It meant that none of the other Black Hands were threatening to ruin the Darkness’s plan. He went up to the clubhouse and his cane’s top glowed green. The wall glowed green and he could see into the clubhouse. The four girls couldn’t see that he was looking in. The spell was only one way.

He looked at the Chosen One’s backpack. He had a feeling that the girl’s book was in it. He had grown curious about it. He had noticed that each report he had received from the Black Hands who were police officers, federal agents and hospital staff had the same thing in them. That the girl always had her book with her and freaked out a bit until she had gotten it back safely. He wondered what had made the book so important to her. He had to read it to see why she loved it so much.

His cane stopped glowing and the wall returned to normal. He stepped back and his cane’s top glowed black. It was time for him to leave. He would find a way to read the chosen one’s book later on. He disappeared in a puff of black smoke.

In the basement of the Man with the German Accent’s manor, the Man with the German Accent appeared. He stumbled around and looked around bewildered. He hadn’t planned on appearing there. That was when he saw four coffins in front of him propped against the wall in a standing position. They were all black with a red circle on their lids. Only one of them was opened though. Each coffin had a Black Hand standing guard by them. He frowned. What were the coffins doing there?

He turned to one of the Black Hands down there. “What are these four coffins doing here?” He demanded. The Black Hand didn’t reply to him. The Man with the German Accent raised his cane up and the top glowed red. “Answer me!” He shouted. “What are these coffins doing here?” The Black Hand still didn’t answer. None of them did. The Man with the German Accent was about to blast them with red energy when the air between them grew dark.

The Man with the German Accent quickly knelt down before the dark air. “Master.” He said, looking down. “What brings you here?” He hadn’t expected a visit from the Darkness that day.

“I am here to answer your question as to why these four coffins are here.” The Darkness answered.

The Man with the German Accent’s eyes widened. His master knew why the coffins were there? “Are they a part of your plan?” He asked the Darkness.

“Yes.” The Darkness answered. “I have need of them for four followers who will soon join us.”

The Man with the German Accent frowned. “Four followers?” He asked. Who would be chosen for the four coffins? He wondered why the Darkness needed four coffins for four followers. It didn’t make sense. They never kept any of the dead Black Hands. Once a Black Hand died, they were either just left where they were killed or just incinerated. They were never buried and they never were given coffins.

“Might I ask why you need four coffins?” The Man with the German Accent asked the Darkness. Were they for the four Black Hands guarding them? The air grew darker.

“I need them to keep four followers until I have all four of them assembled here.” The Darkness explained to the Man with the German Accent. “After I have all four of them here, I can carry out the next part of our plan.”

The Man with the German Accent smiled and looked up at the Darkness. “And by the time the last one gets here, hopefully you’ll have fully returned to us Master.” He said. That was all he wanted. To have their master, to have the Darkness return at full power to lead them to victory against the Chosen One.

“They will help make sure I return to full power.” The Darkness told the Man with the German Accent. The Man with the German Accent wasn’t expecting that. He thought for sure that it was his sole job to bring back the Darkness by doing the ritual where they would sacrifice the Chosen One. So why was the Darkness telling him that the four followers, whoever they were, would be helping make sure that everything went as planned?

“Might I ask who these four are?” The Man with the German Accent asked? Before he knew it, he was thrown back until he hit the wall.

“You idiot!” The Darkness shouted. “If I wanted you to know what my plan was, I would have told you myself!”

The Man with the German Accent looked up as he stood up. “Forgive me Master.” He said to the Darkness. “I was just wondering who they were so that we would be ready for them to arrive.”

The dark air surrounded the Man with the German Accent. “You will know who they are when the time is right.” It hissed in the Man with the German Accent’s ear. “Now just do as I tell you to!” With that, the Darkness was gone.

The Man with the German Accent looked at the Black Hands there. “Guard these coffins.” He ordered. “If our master wanted four of his followers to have them, we will need to guard them until the four have arrived to get them.” With that, he vanished.
