Chapter 951
An ungrateful person like Judy should just experience more of society's harsh realities!
"What's wrong again?" Wendy strolled out of her room. She had a white mud mask applied on her face while wearing a white cotton nightgown. She scared the living death out of Larissa.
"Don't you have other nightgowns to wear? And your face-" Larissa leaned against the armrest of the couch as she put a hand against her pounding heart. She did not want to look at Wendy any more than she should.
"This nightgown is comfortable and cool." Wendy sat next to Larissa as she complained while painting her nails. "The thermostat here is too warm! It's still fucking hot even if I wasn't wearing anything while lying down."
"Your body is still weak, so you must take care not to catch a cold." Larissa told Wendy off.
"I know my body." Wendy was not worried. "Hey-" She turned to look at Larissa as she asked randomly, "What are your ... "What future? What thoughts?" Larissa did not get it.
thoughts on the future?"
"Well, your future with Mr. Rogers. Are you staying in Westonia or going back to Bartham?" Wendy looked more serious than before. "I know you said that you wanted to stay in Westonia long-term because your dad is here, but I feel like Mr. Rogers' parents might not agree.
"I mean, look at Aster's return this time. They can't even let him go... I'm just trying to say, if you are all going back to Bartham, I will quit my job and go with you guys. I was used to living alone abroad, but now that you've accompanied me for so many years-I feel horrible when staying alone."
"We might go back to Bartham." Larissa did not hesitate in her reply. "My dad and my cousin were recently thinking about moving the heart of Blue Star Shipping's business back to Caldor. If it's successful, we'll all go back."
"Cool." Wendy was very direct too. "Once my annual leaves are over, I'll tell my boss that I'm quitting."
Larissa could understand Wendy's feelings, so she did not advise her against it. She only said, "As long as you don't regret it."
The next day at work, Larissa reported to Lewis about the call from Judy last night. "She said Moorewell's burning bridges as they are firing all the people who jumped ship over to their company." Lewis frowned. "I did not receive any news about this."
"Huh?" Larissa thought of Judy's tears yesterday and could not help but question Lewis' words. "Could it be that your information is not up to date? Could it be that Judy and the others got their dismissal letters, but Moorewell had not made an official announcement yet?"
"No." Lewis was very sure though. "They were still clocking in for work as normal yesterday."
"There must be time for the handover even if they're fired, right? Maybe they won't be there anymore in a few days." Larissa was still certain that the matter of Judy getting fired was not fake.
Lewis was finally convinced by her. He said after a moment's silence, "I'll call and check." He called in front of Larissa and put his phone on speaker.
Larissa was not sure about who it was on the other end of the call, she only heard him say, "There seems to be something about that. But there weren't a lot of them who got fired. The only one I've heard of was the one who jumped ship at the very beginning, Judy Turner.
"She's pretty arrogant at Moorewell too, and has offended a lot of people. She's probably getting abandoned because she has nothing else to offer."
"Alright, I understand." Lewis ended the call.
"Since Judy getting fired is real, then there's nothing to worry about." Lewis originally thought there was some scheme behind this, but it seemed that he had overthought this matter.
"Judy has leaked a lot of Blue Star secrets to Moorewell, so we will definitely not accept a settlement with her. If she looks for you again, just ignore her."
"But why did Judy say that the others were fired with her?" Larissa could not figure this out.
"Maybe she just wanted to make it sound worse so you would pity her?" Lewis suggested. "Maybe." Larissa did not have a better explanation.
