Still alive?

Chapter 12

The next day, Mia and Max met in the park and strolled until it was getting dark. Twilight hid details, coastal bushes and trees seemed gloomy walls, surrounding the couple. The moon had not yet completely owned the sky, but its full disk was already peering through the thin veil-like clouds.

“Why are you so silent, Mia?” Max asked.

“I’m sorry, I’m all up in clouds today. Did you come up with something?

“Maybe that’s rather overstated, but this bench will be only ours today. This place is not for tourists.”

“You didn’t tell me about this place.”

At that moment, the clouds dispersed, the moon lit up everything around. He turned to her, full with joy.

“Finally, I can truly surprise you!” He said. “I really hope so. Give me your hand, my Queen.”

She was Humbled. Everything that happened was a complete surprise.

“Please follow me,” he gently took her hand.

Suddenly the moon was hidden behind a dense cloud and it immediately became very dark and even a little scary. She involuntarily cuddled up against him, feeling her defenselessness in this world of darkness. There was almost ringing silence in that place. The air around seemed to be filled with the scent of grass and meadow flowers.

“Mia, are you scared? It seemed to me that life taught you not to be afraid of anything.”

“I was not scared, no. Maybe just a little bit. Suddenly, I felt lonely and this feeling caught me off-guards, you know?”

He hugged her and, chuckling, carried her with him to the place:

“Then, let’s go then, we will arrive.

Even in the dark, she felt the thoughtfulness of his movements.

“Don’t you want to use a flashlight?”

“No. Be patient. Very soon you will see everything.” He said. “Now stop and wait for me,” having said this, he promptly went along the path alone.

She immediately heard the familiar voice and iridescent laughter:

“How good I am, I finally managed to surprise you!” Max said.

“You surprise me more and more every time.”

“I did not think about it, interesting.”

Mia went forward. She felt her heart beating fast, overtaken by excitement.

She came out to see a lake and a bench near it. The lights of the Big City seen from here, reflected in the lake, and this place looked incredibly romantic, even for the cynical Mia.

A minute later, they were sitting on the bench and looking looked at the stars.

“Listen, Max, what if the planet Mars was previously inhabited and there was some life on it.”

“And what happened to it, Mia?”

“There could have been a nuclear explosion. That is why this Planet is red”

“Perhaps, Mia. No one knows”

They became silent and continued to look at the stars ...

Suddenly, Max’s phone rang. It was his friend calling

“Hi, Max. Am I not distracting you? Have you finished, hm...?”

Hearing his words, Mia blushed.

“No,” Max answered and turned the phone off.

The next moment, he turned his head to her, and she towards him. Unexpectedly, for both them, Max and Mia suddenly kissed for the first time. For an onlooker, if there was any, they could look like the couple on the packaging from the «Love is» chewing gum …
