Spoiled By My Once Vegetative Husband

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Yvette sat in the car of the Luxford family and noticed that the butler of the Luxford family had made his way out of the police station and toward the car. Nathan, who was behind the butler, was utterly stumped.

“Thank you, Yvette said. If not for the Luxfords timely rescue, she would most probably have to spend the night behind

bars.

Even though she was penniless and most certainly could not afford to live in a decent hotel, her predicament was not so terrible that she had to spend the night locked up.

“Ms. Towell, you are most welcome. Mrs. Laxford just heard about the news as well. I do apologize that you had to put up with that. Just let the Luxford family handle the rest. I will send you back to your university now, Ms. Towell, the butler said.

As the butler who had served the Luxford family for over twenty years, Gregory Holton was experienced enough to toe the line and addressed Yvette respectfully.

Yvette nodded and looked out the car window absent-mindedly. “Please do convey my gratitude to Mrs. Luxford for her kind gesture.”

Right then, Yvette realized that the woman would be her mother-in-law from tomorrow onward.

She arrived back at her university dorm safely. There was no one else around since there was still half a month till the new semester would begin

In fact, she would only be staying there for a night. She would become the daughter-in-law of the Luxford family the next day, and that would entail her moving in with the family.

However, Yvette still could not get used to her new identity and the fact that people would address her as “Mrs. Luxford” the next day onward.

She washed up and lay on the bed. Yvette’s thoughts drifted as she stared at the ceiling that was merely a few feet from her head. Pings of notifications on her phone snapped her out of her thoughts, and Yvette realized that she had not checked her phone for the better half of the day.

“Belle…”

“Vetty, why didn’t you come look for me? Where are you right now?”

Isabelle Towell’s voice was full of concern. The familiar door to the Towell residence was already locked up when Yvette’s elder sister rushed there upon receiving news that her family had gone bankrupt. Isabelle had been looking for Yvette everywhere frantically and had almost gone mad when she could not locate her younger sister,

“Belle, I’m fine. I’m on the campus right now,”

“Campus? The new semester is yet to begin. Why are you back on campus already? I’ll go fetch you right now.”

“It’s all right. I’ve found a job, and I will move to the dorm provided tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’m all grown up. I can take care of myself, Yvette reassured her sister.

Nobody spoke for over ten seconds before Isabelle said in a strained voice, “I know that you are suffering because of what happened to our family.”

“Belle,

don’t say that. I’m already twenty years old. I can take care of myself. Are you all right over there with the Hoffman family? Did they bully you?” Yvette asked.

The marriage between the Hoffman and the Towell families was more of a convenience for the two families. Nonetheless, Yvette knew that Isabelle liked Jared Hoffman, and they were a good match for each other, especially considering the two families’ backgrounds and social status.

However, they did not expect that the Hoffman family was already un empty shell when Isabelle married into the family.

Chapter 4

What made the matter worse was that Jared did not love her, or rather, he was in love with someone else.

“No. They are nice to me.

Yvette knew that her sister was merely comforting her. After all, Isabelle was already married to Jared for over five years, and yet they were still childless. Judging from that fact, Yvette figured out that the married couple did not have a close relationship.

Then again, Yvette was too exhausted herself to keep egging Isabelle on and said, “Belle, don’t worry about me. Just stay with the Hoffman family. You’ll be better off there. I’ll buy the Towell residence back when I’ve earned money from work.”

The mansion alone would cost over 4.5 million dollars. Isabelle knew that it was impossible for Yvette to get the mansion back from just the latter’s salary.

Nonetheless, she nodded and said, “You have to take good care of yourself. Don’t strain yourself.”

Yvette was not even a university graduate. Hence, Isabelle reckoned that it was not likely that Yvette would be able to secure any decent jobs. However, the sisters shared a tacit understanding – both of them did not wish to let the other person worry,

Yvette ended the call and checked her messages that came in throughout the day.

They were mostly voice messages from Isabelle. However, there was a familiar name underneath Isabelle. She clicked on the voice message, and a low, yet refreshing voice of a man came through the phone. “Where are you, Yvette?”

There were about dozens of the same voice n

messages.

Yvette’s eyes reddened as she texted back: “Somewhere you will never find me.”
