Spoiled By My Once Vegetative Husband

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

After the discussion on the details of the wedding was done. Yvette came out of the Luxford residence and dragged her suitcase along as she headed to her university dorm.

Nathan was right. All assets of the Towell family, including her credit cards, were all frozen by the bank. It was not only biscuits that she could not afford. As a matter of fact, she could not even afford a bottle of water.

Her university dorm was far from the Luxford residence. However, Yvette’s steps were oddly steady as she walked in her expensive high heels.

A car came to a stop in front of her. The chauffeur got out of the car and said respectfully, “Ms. Towell, Mrs. Luxford has ordered for me to send you back home safely

Yvette was pleasantly surprised by Lauren’s attentive manner, for the woman had meticulously noted that Yvette could not afford a ride, and yet Lauren had made no mention back in the mansion to preserve her dignity. Yvette suddenly thought that the woman who was to be her mother-in-law was actually quite nice.

Yvette accepted her kind gesture graciously and told the chauffeur the address of her dorm.

Meanwhile, back in the Luxford residence, Lauren was looking at the man who seemed to be fast asleep in bed.

After listening to the report that Yvette was safely back in the university dorm, Lauren let out a sigh.

Joshua, she is quite pitiful. Her parents are gone, and people are coveting her family’s wealth. She’s really quite helpless, and it’d be nice if you think of it as you doing a favor for her and let her accompany you. Oh right, her name is Yvette Towell. She is very pretty, and the two of you will look most splendid together,” Lauren said.

The man in the bed was still deep in his sleep. The contours of his face were clearly defined. Even though he had been bedridden for a long time due to the accident and was looking pale and gaunt, his charisma was still apparent in his chiseled features.

Joshua had not responded to any of Lauren’s words.

He had been in that condition for half a year. However, Lauren still insisted on talking to him every day. She was almost hoping for her son to wake up and reprimand her meddlesome actions.

Meanwhile, in the police station in Jipsdale, Nathan’s gaze could not help but linger on Yvette’s pretty face.

His arm was wrapped in a bandage and hung around his neck as he said, “She deliberately hurt me. Here, I have the injury examination report claiming that I have suffered a minor injury. Hurry up and lock her up, sir.”

The policeman sitting opposite Nathan frowned. “He’s so shameless. Why is he deliberately making things difficult for the young lady, the policeman wondered.

He turned to look at Yvette and asked in a low voice, “Did you cause his injury?”

Yvette shook her head. “I don’t know. He tried to get handsy, and I just reached out to grab at his hand. Maybe he just has more delicate bones.

The policeman regarded Nathan with a frigid stare and mused, “This man has the audacity to file a report when he’s the one who was being impertinent.”

“I did not touch her. It was her who was trying to seduce me because she knew I was loaded. She was practically throwing herself at me. Anyway, she broke my arm. The staff from the bank can testify for me, as does my girlfriend as she has witnessed the whole thing…

“All right. You’re quite the man when a girl manages to break your arm that easily. So, how do the two of you plan to settle this? Is it going to be settled privately, or do the two of you wish to go through with the procedure?” the policeman asked.

Nathan smiled smugly as he shot a lecherous stare at Yvette.

The Towell family is done for. Who will be able to bail you out now? Life behind the bars is not as peachy as you think. Why don’t you just agree to my demands? I will gladly let you off the h o ok.”

“Are you threatening her?” The policeman slammed on the desk and warned Nathan sternly.

“No, no. We’re just discussing the terms for an amicable solution to the situation. We need to come to an agreement, yes?”

“We are not going to settle this in private. Just remand me here.” Yvette said in a determined manner.

Nathan gritted his teeth and did not wish to let her off the h o ok just like that. Just when he was about to speak, someone spoke up outside the door. “Someone is bailing Yvette Towell out. She may leave now.”

Stumped, Nathan blurted, “That’s impossible. Who dares to do such a thing?”

A low voice rang from outside the door. “The Luxford family.”
