Chapter 16
“Mom, I already have enough clothes, so I don’t need so much money.
Yvette reluctantly pushed back the bank card, reminding herself that one should not be too greedy. Also, she felt sorry for injuring Joshua the previous night.
Nonetheless, Lauren beamed and placed the bank card in her palm, saying gently, “This isn’t for you. After school, I need you to head over to Stellar Antiques and bring back a pair of white nephrite vases.
Then, the smile on her face deepened as she continued, “Maybe the money in this card isn’t enough.”
“Huh? Does that mean not only do I need to run errands for her, but there’s a possibility that I have to pay for the antique with my own money?” Yvette thought.
Her hand trembled as she held the bank card. The only thought she had at the moment was to return the card.
However, even if she did not want to run the errand, she still flashed Lauren a smile and replied, “Sure. I’ll bring back the vases for you.”
It was the first day of school. The newcomers had already arrived to report themselves a week ago.
Yvette was still a university student and was a sophomore that year. The dorm had remained unchanged. As soon as she entered the room, Sabrina Sadler hugged her tightly.
“Darling. I miss you dearly. I miss you so much,” uttered Sabrina affectionately while embracing her best friend.
Subsequently, they rolled along with the motion and fell onto the bed.
“I don’t think you’re missing me. I think you want to kill me!”
Yvette broke free from her arms and immediately dashed to the other side of the table, keeping a close eye on Sabrina. vigilantly to prevent her from approaching again.
Sabrina rolled her eyes and queried worriedly. T’ve heard about your family’s situation, Vetty. How have you been?”
Who would have thought that the once glorious Towell family would lose everything in months?
In an instant. Yvette’s expression darkened. Even though it was a fact that her family had gone bankrupt, and she seemed to have accepted the reality, she still could not help but feel sad whenever it got mentioned.
“Tin fine. Didn’t you realize that the dress I’m wearing today is a brand new dress?”
The next moment, she stood up and turned around to show her best friend the stunning light-yellow one-piece, the latest design that year. It had only been on the market for a few weeks.
There were only two pieces in Jipsdale. She intentionally bought one of them.
Sabrina was stunned momentarily before imitating a wolf howl and reprimanding. “Goodness gracious. I bet your family went bankrupt because you’re such a spendthrift.”
The two of them quipped to cover up their sadness. Yvette smiled proudly and stated, “My mother-in-law bought it for me.”
“Mother-in-law?” Sabrina repeated the unfamiliar term, and it took her a long time to regain her senses. “Yvette, you…
“Could it be that after the Towell family has gone under, Yvette can’t stand the hardship and has decided to sell herself? The time I spent reading all those CEO romance novels wasn’t in vain! Yvette is now experiencing all those events in the story plot, she pondered.
Yvette was not surprised by her reaction and gestured for her to remain silent while whispering, “I’m married, but don’t tell anyone about IL”

Hearing that, Sabrina nodded vigorously.
She would not tell anyone about the sentimental story between a wealthy daughter who had fallen from grace and a domineering CEO.
Seeing that she was curious but did not ask, Yvette took the initiative to fill her best friend in on what had happened.
After suppressing her emotions for a long time, she desperately needed to talk to a reliable friend.
While the two of them were chatting, the other students who stayed in the same dorm had returned. Hence, both stopped talking tacitly and went to the office to report themselves.
That day, what Yvette heard the most was that the Towell family had gone bankrupt.
She had once been the center of attention, but now, she was just a pitiful young lady. Those who despised her in the past were now jeering at her openly.
Some commented that she only cared about satisfying her vanity when she could not afford to do so the moment they saw the limited edition dress that she was wearing
