I snuggled into Alder's chest, feeling a content sigh escape my lips as he wrapped his arms around me tightly.

I sat up, reaching for my cell phone as I answered with a sigh. "Can I help you mother?"

"That's how you answer the phone? I haven't heard from you in weeks Jolie..I haven't heard from your brother either!! Do you know what it's like as a mother to lose all contact with your children? The children I love with every ounce of my soul!" She sobbed, making my eyes shut tight as I tried not to throw the phone across the room.

And now you all have abandoned me..your father..he won't even speak to me..the man I gave my life to..he won't even answer a single text..and now I hear that Rylan is shacking up with that girl..can you believe this? I heard my mother sigh, my words seeming to make her ponder them as the line went silent for a few moments.

That's when I turned my head to look at Alder, seeing his dark brow raised in surprise.

"I know..I just..I want what's best for you..for all of my kids." She whispered, making me laugh dryly.

"Well, you have a weird way of showing it.." I grumbled, and then I felt a little bad..I won't lie. I know my mother loves us...and truthfully, she almost loves us too much..and the way she shows it is smothering. Which is not the most healthy thing obviously. "Mom..remember how you told us that you married Daddy for love..not money?"

I reminded her..knowing the story by heart now.

"Yes.."

"Well, don't you want that for your kids too?"

"Wait..are you telling me you love that King boy?" My mother gasped, causing my gaze to shoot to Alder's as a curious look filled his face.

"Yes..I have fallen in love with him." I admitted for the first time out loud, making the biggest smile fill Alder's face. And before I knew it, he began raining kisses down on my lips rapidly.

"I love you too." He whispered against me, making me almost forget about my mom on the phone at my stomach flipped uncontrollably.

"If that is what your heart says...I guess I can't argue with that." My mom added, almost sounding defeated as I tried to stay focused.

"He is a great guy Mom..and I think if you took the time to actually meet him, you would see that."

"Wait, so you want to get together? You would let me meet him officially?" She rushed out, causing my eyes to widen.

"I..I don't know if I'm ready for that yet..but if you can prove you are willing to change, and you stop meddling in your kid's lives...then maybe down the road.."

"Oh, Jolie! My beautiful daughter..thank you..I swear no more meddling..and now that Nolan is coming home soon, we can be a real family again. I think it will work this time for him..I can feel it in my bones...it will be a new beginning for all of us. In fact, I think we should use the restaurant for a welcome home party for him..everyone can come. Nolan will love it!" She began to ramble, and I could feel her excitement from here.

"I don't know mom..I think maybe we should just have a few people if we do that..we don't want it to be too much..and probably no alcohol either." I expected her to push back but what she said next surprised me.

"You're right..it might be too overwhelming for him..well, how about we just keep it to a few close friends..and you can bring your boyfriend too." My mom added, and I was shocked.

"Um..okay, well, we can talk about it more later on..Rylan and Tilly are on their way over actually, so I better let you go.."

"Oh, I see..can you tell Rylan I love him? And perhaps he could bring Tilly too..if this is as serious as it seems to be." I could tell she was fishing a little but I wasn't going to give in.

"I will mention it to him.." That's all I will give her..but in the end, it will be up to Rylan to decide what he wants to do.

After saying our goodbyes, I hung up the phone and let out a groan.

"Why am I completely exhausted now?" I grumbled, feeling Alder rubbing my back and arm soothingly.

"You did great..I'm so proud of you for keeping your boundaries." He whispered, kissing the side of my ear before hovering above me slightly.

"But, can we go back to what you said earlier? About how you said you loved me?" He asked playfully, causing my stomach to flip as he peered down at me with those gorgeous blue eyes. Ugh..why was he so beautiful? "Well.....I mean, I have felt it for a while now..but I thought it might be too soon.."

"There is no timeline on love darling..in fact, I think I fell in love with you the first moment I met you."

"You did?" I asked, feeling stunned to hear this.

"Yes..and every time since I have fallen deeper and deeper. I love you Jolie..I love you so much." He confessed again, causing my heart to practically explode as I felt tears welling up in my eyes.

"I love you too Alder.." I responded, making him let out a cheer before smashing his lips to mine as I couldn't help but giggle profusely.

Just when we really started to get into it..that's when I heard the doorbell ring, causing Alder to pull back slightly.

"I guess our guests are here..we will be finishing this later.."
