Severed Bonds

Chapter 29- Breakpoint

A week later, Violet is back in school, looking better than ever. She no longer hangs out with Rose, thank goodness! We're back to being friends again, Johnny tags along with us majority of the time. Violet gets annoyed by this, so she started telling me some embarrassing stories about him. At night, it's my most exhausting and vigorous battle. I either can't sleep or I'm just too scared to. Each night it switches. The dreams are back but are even more gruesome and worse. The only thing that helps is the pills. It's the only way I can sleep and dream peacefully. Although I don't even dream about good things. It's just terrors, it feels like it's getting worse. I'll have a dream and be unable to sleep for the whole night even with the pills! Argh! Migraine. It only goes away when I sleep at night. Then worse, I look sick as a dog! I think I might be getting a cold. At night, Just one more, then I can sleep. And I do, I sleep peacefully. On friday, I get to school, and meet up with Violet. ARGH! My head! The lights are just making my headache worse. I tell Violet I'll be right back and go to the bathroom. I look in the mirror and see my face looks so sickly and off color. I start to feel light headed then shake it off. I stumble a bit to my class, brr! Is it cold in here? Or is it just me. Chills run all over my body. Everything feels sort of hazy...

"Hannah?" I can barely look at Violet. "Hannah you don't look so good?"

"I feel cold..." I hug myself.

"Hannah, your sweating." What? Maybe I should go to the nurse. I stand up quickly and feel lightheaded again. I turn to the next hallway, feeling drained on energy. I'm freezing! I think I have a fever. My chest starts to hurt, I hold my hand over my heart and try to make my way to the nurse's office. The lights above me turn blurry, and I no longer can feel my body.

Ian pov,

"Excuse me?" Huh? My eyelids are heavy, finally my vision clears white walls, bright ceiling lights... oh no! "Sir?"

"Where am I?" I sit up.

"The hospital, you've collapsed at the same time as the other girl actually..." She trails off.

"Other girl?" I hold my head.

"Yes her name is-" The door swishes open, perfect timing....

"Oh my I'm so relieved! Thank you for taking care of my son!" He runs over and hugs me. Uh... I hug him back to go along with his act. "I'm sorry but I would like to take my son home with me. You know how it is frightening for a parent."

"I'm afraid I do, sir but I can't allow that. Your son collapsed from a drug overdose and he has to be monitored first for a few days then he can leave. It's our policy." A WHAT! DAMN IT HANNAH! He smiles gently to her obviously manipulating isn't working or his charm.

"I see....but I'm sure he'll be okay miss..." He pulls out ten thousand dollars in cash and hands it to her. The lady is shocked she's hesitant but reaches out for his hand. She clasps onto the bribe as she looks up at him.

"Very well then." Her smile doesn't fade and she signs a release paper for me. "There you go! All set take care you two!" She smiles again. I changed back into my normal clothes and tossed that filthy hospital gown. As soon as we exit the hospital my father's true colors show.

"The last thing I need, son, is the council raining hell on us!" I shiver at the thought of it, it's a bit too much.

"I'll talk to Hannah about our current condition."

"Yes, yes you will. She's gotten a little out of hand lately. Running to wherever the hell she wants to, and undermining the authority. She's too naive for her own good, which makes it even easier for you, doesn't it son?" Just stay calm, he's only testing you. "I think you gave her the benefit of the doubt for too long. She's at her weakest and most vulnerable, now's your chance! This is how you bend a person to your every will son, by slowly tearing them apart. And when they scream in agony you beat them harder. When they scream for mercy, however...let them scream and cry. Till they take their life by their own hands. And that son, is how you remove an enemy without getting any blood on your hands."

"I see, that way the enemy will never see you coming."

"Exactly son, that nurse back there, she obviously needed the money. I could've snuck you out myself but I decided to pay a visit. Without even knowing it she's torturing herself. She'll always regret the money she took for her family and if she took it greedily it's most likely someone will take it from her."

"So, you manipulate her into a trap?" I remark.

"The human mind is a human's greatest weakness, once you learn that every human will bend to your will."

Hannah POV,

Argh! My head hurts a bit again! I regain consciousness Dad?
