Saving Kinsley

Chapter Reticence

Kinsley's P.O.V

Noah was laying on the ground, human form, knocked out but he was shivering so hard. 'Noah, get up.' I pushed, again and again as my eyes remained locked on the man before me. No response came from him. He continued to shake. I let out a low growl, had they fucking drugged him?

I shifted "Let him fucking go or I swear to the God's I'll light this whole Forrest and take you down with me." I growled deeply, the flames trickling a ferocious trail up my arms. Ember was pacing beneath the surface, hackles raised and teeth bared.

"Submit and I will release him." Dion Warren, Dakota's father. An evil smirk snaked across his lips, his voice was smug like he had already won.

"Fuck you, you don't deserve my allegiance and you are no god damn Alpha to me. " I sneered, my rage shaking me to my core. My vision was beginning to flicker with black dots, I was dangerously close to losing control now.

Dakota's father's face snaked into an eerie smile, "Very well. We'll do this the hard way."

I gasped as something sharp struck my shoulder, a small, intrusive pinch, numbing my entire body instantly. I stumbled, flailing to reach behind and remove the object. I crumpled to the dirt below, finally, I had it in my grasp. A small dart, with a blue dipped tip.

My vision was dancing and swaying, speckles of black closing in before heavy boots came into sight. "Grab her, kill the other one." My heart broke, Noah. I wanted to fight, but my body wasn't responding. I tried to unleash my wrath, but calling onto my wolf or the Fire wasn't working. I was truly neutralized. Fucking useless.

My heavy eyes fluttered shut against all my will of keeping them open. My world, going black.

A thumping woke me up, and with a groan, I reached out for my pillow to stifle the noise. Just five more minutes please.. My fingers ran along a carpeted area, why the hell was I on the floor? Better yet, why was the floor moving?

Flashes came back to me, at first just pieces.

I jerked upright, slamming my head into something metal. Fuck! My head was throbbing but I needed to get to Noah.

I felt around further, my fingers caressing wires and then plastic. What the hell? Where am I? I stumbled onto a latch, and realization hit me. I was in a trunk, in a moving vehicle. The sounds of wheels on asphalt turning, thrumming through the metal below came to me in hums.

'Noah where are you? are you okay?' I reached out to him, praying to the moon goddess he was safe.

The link between us felt weak, stretched to the max. Fuck, how long was I out for? How far away was I?

'TATE, ANYONE!'

Silence.

I groaned. Goddess this was not good.

Shit, okay. Breathe. The stiff air hadn't done much, but I managed to clear my mind. I Kicked the latch but it didn't budge.

'Whatever they gave us, it's drained us.' Embers exhausted voice came through lightly as she continued to whimper.

I let out a frustrated growl. Can I get a fucking break? Just one fucking small one.

I turned my leg to the side and kicked out the lights. Looking out I didn't recognize the area, and It was still dark out. Or early? Hell, I don't know.

I reached for the latch and focused on that deep, dark place in my soul. Looking for that small flame, ready to unleash it. Flames flickered faintly above my skin, on the verge of being snuffed out. Moving quickly I grabbed for the wires, maybe I could disengage the wiring somehow?

I set fire to the wires, and the trunk flew open, I had seconds to make my move. Diving quickly, I collided with the asphalt, my skin erupting in pain.

Before my body could heal I forced a shift. At first, it was pure agony from the drug coursing through my system and add in my fresh wounds.

Shaking my fur out, I darted into the wooded area alongside the road.

I continued to mind link anyone, opening my mind to the entire pack. Someone would hear me, hopefully not too late. In the distance I heard tires screech to a halt, by now they would've noticed the trunk. Or the fire.

I was already miles away, moving as quickly as possible.

My instincts pushed me to run, run, run. Don't stop.

At some point, Ember had taken over. I sat backseat in my mind, the exhaustion hitting me.

Ember scented the air as we careened through the unfamiliar woods, the most alluring scent pulling us into a direction to the north. Nothing in this area we recognized, so I instantly pushed for control, Ember didn't fight it.

I drew in another breath, the scent was like a warm summer night, smoky and woodsy.

'Mate, mate, mate.' Ember chanted like she was entranced.

I pulled in another breath, 'That's impossible.. right?' Ember continued to whine out, ignoring my lingering question.

My body was pulled like a magnet in the direction of the scent.

Running through the wooded area, I came crashing through bushes where the scent was the heaviest. My movements, frozen in time.

My gaze locked with Bright green eyes, a snarl coming from another wolf off to the side. I let out a growl in warning, my hackles rising. My instincts were pushing me to my mate, nothing would come between us.

Suddenly a white wolf, a pure white like snow was at my side, facing off against the other wolf. She released a deep warning growl that had me almost submitting. I could feel the force pushing me down.

And then the brown wolf, My mate had shifted before me. He stood tall, imposing. His muscles were completely taut, black hair slightly disheveled. Green eyes complementing his ruggedly handsome face, everything about him drew me in. "Shift Mate." His voice wrapped around me, sending a shiver down my spine.

Against my mates' wishes, I remained in my wolf form. I couldn't trust that I was safe. As they bantered back and forth after shifting back, I tuned out, my eyes locked on him. This beautiful creature standing in front of me.

"Hey, it's okay. You're safe here." This gorgeous, raven-haired woman soothingly spoke to me. Her eyes, a captivating Hazel color looking at me in a soul-deep way.

She turned to him "Kole, shift back. Your mate needs you."

The brown wolf was in front of me again, cautiously moving closer.

At some point, the other two had left, and my mate, Kole, was at my side.

Eventually, I shifted.

and he had to.

"What's your name?" That question sent fear coursing through me, was he going to reject me as Dakota had?

"Please, don't reject me. I can't.. Not again." My heart was crumbling inside my chest. I can't do it again.

His eyes lit into a fury, the greens, going to a shade darker, "Fuck.. No, I wasn't going to reject you!" He wrapped me in his arms. And I fucking caved. I embraced everything he was giving in this small gesture.

"I'd never reject you. You're a damn blessing to me. Whoever rejected you before..-" His chest rumbled with a deep growl, "I'm Kole." He brushed my hair to the side, tracing a finger over my skin. Sparks igniting a trail under his finger.

I shivered as his fingers traced lightly over my skin, "Kinsley." I whispered out. Kole hugged me tighter, "Kinsley." He repeated, and I've never loved my name so much until it rolled off his lips.
