Chapter Deathlight
Ashes began falling from the sky, onto the city of Sanctuary. Lumina stood on the city wall, staring at where Arranthian had been mere moments ago, in disbelief.
"No... Arranthian..." Lumina cried. The Demonhawk began rising to its feet, reading to continue the attack, Lumina roared and summoned a Blinding Celestial Blade of Light, that illuminated the area in light.
The Demonhawk screeched as it saw the light and began charging toward Lumina. Lumina dived onto the ground below, and charged at the Demonhawk, she roared with pure anger as she neared the creature, in one swift swipe, the Demonhawk burst into shadow particles.
Lumina panted and looked ahead. She hadn't spotted it before, but the light from her blade now illuminated it. A small dragonet lay where Arranthian had died. She slowly approached the dragonet and picked it up, her blade of light faded as she cradled the small creature in her arms.
The dragonet opened its eyes and squeaked. It looked Lumina in the eyes and she smiled. The dragonet made a happy squeaking sound too. Lumina looked around before running back toward the city.
The gate had been forced open, so she made her way there. As she neared, she noticed Atlas and Lotte fighting off fiends, keeping them from the city.
"Atlas!" Lumina shouted, Atlas looked at Lumina and noticed the dragonet.
"Quick! Get in!" Atlas shouted as he made space for Lumina. She ran as fast as she could into through the city gates, the city was in chaos as fiends attacked.
"This can't be happening..." Lumina whispered to herself. She quickly made her way toward the lab, so she could keep the dragonet safe. It was a slow journey through the chaotic city, but eventually she reached the lab building.
Inside there was still staff, keeping the lab safe, they directed Lumina to the basement, to Keegan's room, as it was the most secure place in the city.
When she reached the room, she placed the dragonet down and sighed.
"Arranthian..." She shook her head, in sorrow. Arranthian had been her friend for nearly as long as she could remember, and now he was gone. This dragonet was all that remained of him, and she would do everything possible to keep them safe from harm.
The door to the cell slid open and Lumina looked up. At the door stood, a face that Lumina had not seen in eons. Nevall, the Fate Crystalla. Lumina got to her feet instantly and summoned her Celestial Weapon, but it was too late, Nevall made his first move before even entering the room.
Blood dripped from Lumina's mouth as she fell backward and through a glass coffee table.
"...why" Lumina coughed.
"Because fate demanded it" Nevall said sternly.
"Fuck fate..." Lumina laughed, as she coughed up more blood, staining her white robe in red. Nevall scoffed and walked out of the room, satisfied that he'd done enough to provoke Abyssia.
Lumina struggled to breathe as she looked at the little dragonet, it was crying. Lumina smiled and nodded.
"Don't cry for me, little one. I had this coming. I let myself fall to hatred. I called humans cruel, when I myself exercised my own cruelty... I deserve this" Lumina said, as her eyes began to feel heavy.
Footsteps ran into the room, it was Keegan and Roisin.
"Is that... Lumina?!" Keegan said as he backed away. Lumina turned her head to Roisin who looked at her in horror.
"Roisin... come closer, you too, Keegan" Lumina said weakly as she waved the two over.
"So you can double-cross us, I think not" Keegan scoffed.
"Keegan..." Roisin frowned.
"He's right to think that, Roisin, but I won't double cross you, just come and hold my hands" Lumina pleaded.
"Fine, but if you try anything, I'll kill you" Keegan nodded. Lumina smirked slightly and nodded.
"Deal" She smiled. Roisin and Keegan walked to either side of Lumina and held her hands, as they did, the room was engulfed in light, as the energy of the light and earth crystals transferred to Roisin, and the Mystic energy transferred to Keegan.
As the light faded, Lumina's true form revealed itself, a small old lady, with a kind face.
"But wait what about..." Roisin began.
"No lives have to be paid, the energy comes with them already, just... save Crystalla. Please. Both of you..." Lumina said as she trailed off.
Lumina passed away, holding hands with the two destined saviours of Crystalla
