Chapter 10
Chapter Ten: The New Love Interest II
Besides work, I have come to agree that it was all Evans on my mind. I tossed and turned on the bed waiting for the morning to come so I might have a chance to call him even if there were still a lot of questions left unanswered. I wanted to apologize for my rigidity at the hospital. Maybe I was still a bit shocked to see the man I had cheated on my husband with although it never felt that way. Whenever I tried to think of something else he always somehow managed to get in my head again. The incident was on repeat in my mind how I had been like a teenager who was about to make out for the first time with a love interest. I loved that he had kissed me, and run his hands around my waist when we danced. I trailed my hand on my body as I thought about the moment up until I touched the ring. I wonder why it still had it on. The moment of a disturbing past with Thomas resurfaced. I lay still facing the window and watched the wind nudge the curtain and slowly my eyelid felt close to sleep
I found myself at the office before it was even fully dawned. Home was the last place I wanted to be at the moment. And so somehow, I found solace between the walls of Miles Real Estate and particularly the Managing Director’s office, the new position I have come to handle.
The impact of the morning sun rested on my forehead and my scalp. The heat had intensified as summer was drawing closer even though the early hours of the morning seemed pretty hot. I narrowed my eyes to keep the sun from getting directly into them. Raising my brows I forced out strands of lined–up wrinkles on my forehead. Just as I got to my office, I saw a yellow–coloured petal flower that beamed as the ray of the sun that crept from the window rested on it. As it laid on the desk. I walked closer and I could see it perfectly kept with a note lying close to it.
“What’s that?” I bent over, picked up the bouquet of dandelions and placed it on my nose. It had a bitter–sweet aromatic note with whispers of citrus and rose. I couldn’t exactly tell if it smelled right. I grabbed the note and in it was a familiar handwriting. The same I had seen months ago at the hospital.
My gaze was glued to the note as I found my way to my seat. My eyes still didn’t move from the piece of long note.
“I watch you from my large window when you walk out every morning with your hair moving in the direction of the wind. Sometimes we cross paths, you have rarely looked at me….
I adjusted myself on the chair and rested my back on the chair. Before reading again “You seem very appreciated, I had the opportunity to realize it as soon as I arrived in this large space. I want to get to see you again and be with you. The thoughts of the little times we spent together were the best I have been with anyone. I doubt if I’ll ever be able to look you in the eyes and tell you how I truly feel about you. I mince words here writing this. I like the way you walk, with an impression of sliding, your hips move and sway whenever I watch you move. I am often stunned at your clothes options, both classic and unique, with something striking, colourful and impulsive that seems to say, I have to dress discreetly but I am still unique! Your presence is like a pleasant beam of sunshine. I know, I feel this rush in my stomach when you are there. You make the whole place around me feel pleased. When I hear you laugh I am amazed at the sound of it. What else to tell you? How I like to pronounce your sweet name? The other night I saw you in that red dress, I wanted to walk over and tell you how

beautiful you look and how you stole my breath away. But It was public, there were people, the lights were up and you had that chauffeur with you. I saw you smile so brightly. It is this smile that makes me want to kiss you every time. There is a pair of diamond earrings that I find so beautiful on you.
Love, Evans.”

grew warm even when I tried to shrug off the emotions that were growing in my eyes. I held the diamond earrings in my grasp while staring at them. The rays of the light fell on them and they sparkled. I put them on looking at them through the reflection on the mirror. They were gorgeous.
My phone rang through and I answered.
“Hello, gorgeous,”
“Evans, I saw the note and the gift, they are lovely but you really didn’t have to.”
“But I want to. Right now, my fingers are crossed, I hope that you love it and it meets your standard.”
“Oh come on Evans. I really do love it and it fits perfectly. No one has ever given me a diamond before.”
“Take a pic so I see.”
“Oh please I’m not doing that.”
“Then I’m taking you out tonight then.”
“You don’t give up do you?”
“For you, I can’t.‘
“But why?”
“You are worth everything. Let me take you out tonight on a proper date.”
Angela walked in as I was about to respond.
“Let me get back to you on that. Talk to you later.”
“I hope I didn’t interrupt anything. Oh, those earrings really look good on you.”
“Not exactly. Thank you, Evans got it for me.
“Regina?”
“Okay fine. That was Evans and he just asked me on a date. I don’t know what to say.”
“Say yes! You have to say yes. This guy likes you, see what he got for you?”
“I know right? it’s so pretty.”
“You have to go out with this guy.”
“I still have the whole day to think about it.”
