Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Stella opened the tube of ointment and glanced at Brian’s wound. She was conflicted once more.
His wound was in his nether region, and she needed to pull the dressing robe away if she wanted to apply
the ointment for him.
She had seen him naked countless times. However, after all that had happened between them that led to their separation, she didn’t think it was appropriate for them to be so intimate now.
“Are you done?” Brian asked impatiently, opening his eyes to peek at her.
Stella made no reply, though her dilemma was written on her face.
Brian glanced down at himself and seemingly realized what the problem was. He smiled wryly.
Noticing his smile, Stella figured he must not mind what she was about to do. She mustered her courage and dabbed some ointment on her finger.
Without another word, she reached for his dressing robe and peeled it back to reveal the wound. She gently dabbed the ointment on the wound, only to hear Brian’s breath hitch.
He said hoarsely, “Watch it.”
“Watch what?” Stella asked, looking at him.
Brian’s gaze darkened. “Don’t touch me in places you shouldn’t.”
Stella fell silent at that, though she felt insulted that he thought she might want to touch him anywhere at
all
Disgruntled as she was, she deliberately pressed down on Brian’s wound.
He hissed and growled, “Stella!”
“Yes?” Stella asked sweetly with a smile.
Brian pinned her with a menacing stare. “Now you’re trying to seduce me? Are you courting death?”
Stella pursed her lips and made no response. She was not trying to seduce him; she was retaliating.
“Tha
Brian narrowed his eyes. “I’ll have you begging for death when I’m better.
She feigned exasperation as she countered, “I didn’t mean to hurt you just now.”
“Yeah, right,” he said, snorting derisively. His voice was hoarse as he added, “All you ever did in the past was seduce me. Did you think I’d miss all the hints?
“You were parading around in those lacy nightgowns that barely covered anything.”
Stella’s face warmed. He was right; she had tried to seduce him when she put on those lacy nightgowns.
But she had done it out of love, and also because Brian’s mother wouldn’t stop pestering her to make a child to secure their marriage.
Unfortunately, Stella’s endeavors had failed to win Brian over. The only thing she convincing him she was full of schemes.

She wouldn’t be surprised if he thought of her as a joke whenever she laid down the honey trap for him.
“I’ll admit I was foolish.” Stella confessed. She had gone to such ridiculous lengths to make him fall in
love with her.
Never again, she vowed.
With a sigh, Stella put the ointment back and got ready to leave.
Seeing this, Brian asked unhappily, “Are you leaving?”
“I’m going down to grab a bite,” she answered impassively as she turned to head downstairs.
Yvonne brought out the dishes and asked, “Mrs. Foley, how’s Mr. Foley doing?”
“He’ll be fine. Dr. Sanders said he’ll be fine after two weeks of recuperation,” Stella answered matter–of-
factly.
Yvonne’s shoulders sagged with relief.
After she had eaten, Stella went back upstairs to take a shower.
She had only just towel–dried her hair when she got a call from Yelena. She settled by the bay window as she put the call through. “Hey, Yelena. I was wondering if I could get a few days off.”
Yelena asked, “Why?”
“Brian broke his leg and I need to take care of him,” Stella explained.
Yelena asked incredulously, “Wait, why are you taking care of him? You guys are on the brink of divorcing, so why not have his mistress play nurse instead?
“Weren’t they raving about their great love story on the internet just the other day? Well, let Jessica prove that she’s dedicated to him in sickness and in health!”
Stella sighed. “Oh, stop. Brian only got hurt because of me this time. He broke his leg trying to save me.”
She told Yelena about the skiing incident.
Yelena frowned. “If you put it that way, I guess you owe him a favor. But what about the collaboration with Nas Group? Do you think we should proceed with it?”
“There’s no harm working with them,” Stella replied. After getting to know Yoel over the past few days, she found him chivalrous and charming.
“How’s your hand? Can you draw?” Yelena asked in concern.
Stella raised her hand and inspected it briefly. “It’s healing fine, I suppose. I can start sketching in the next couple of days so that we’ll have something to show for the collaboration.”
“All right, then,” Yelena said.
