Chapter 54
Chapter 54
On the ski slopes, Yoel said gently, “Stella, you can’t look at your feet when you’re skiing. Look ahead!”
“Okay,” Stella said with a nod, her eyes meeting Brian’s gaze as she looked ahead.
He sat there with staff kneeling on the ground, helping him put on his skis. His face was gloomy and expressionless.
Their eyes met.
He glared at her.
Stella’s heart was pounding in her chest as she was startled. Her speed lurched out of control, and her eyes widened in terror as the ground rushed up to meet her.
“Help!” she can’t help but scream.
Beside her, Yoel lifted a corner of his lips in a faint smile. Then, with a long reach, he pulled her into an
embrace.
She practically threw herself at Yoel, her body pressing against his. He was knocked back a step but
managed to hold her.
Their eyes met amidst the snowfall, resembling a scene straight out of a romantic idol drama.
“Oh my God, this is like an idol drama!” Joseph exclaimed, slapping his thigh as he sat down next to Brian.. “There should be some cheesy music playing right about now. Even I’m feeling the urge to fall for
someone right now!”
Brain gave him a cold stare. “If you don’t talk, no one will think you’re mute.”
“I think it’s sweet. Can’t I even compliment them?” Seeing Brian’s frown, Joseph poked the flames. “It’s
sweet! I’m just stating a fact.”
“I think they’re a good match too, Jessica said, walking back to glance at Stella as she complimented her.
“Right?” Joseph said. “They are both stunning. Just like something out of an idol drama.”
“Yeah.” Jessica sat down gently.
Brian remained silent until he noticed Stella looking over from a distance. He then turned to Jessica and
asked, “Are you playing? I’ll teach you.”
Η
It surprised Jessica that he finally took the initiative.
He usually didn’t care about her.
Jessica looked up and saw Stella looking in her direction. She realized it was because of Stella’s gaze.
A gentle smile softened her features as she clenched her fingers at her side. “I can’t play. Have you forgotten that I’m pregnant and can’t do strenuous exercise?”
She was dressed in ski gear, but she wasn’t there to ski. She was just there to accompany them and take.
a few selfies.
She took out her phone, intending to call Brian and Joseph over to look at the camera for a picture, but
Brian picked up his ski poles and skied away.
Jessica’s smile froze in front of the camera.
Joseph chuckled. “Don’t worry about Brian. He’s just not interested in taking pictures. Don’t mind him.”
With that, he skled away as well.
Jessica was left alone in the lounge area and gazed through the large windows at people having fun in
the snow.
Joseph skied up to Stella and greeted her with a smile. “Hi, Mrs. Foley.”
Yoel’s frown deepened at Joseph’s form of address. His cold gaze shifted to Joseph’s charmingly
handsome face.
“Hi, Mr. Perkins,” Joseph smiled at Yoel,
Yoel offered a gentle smile. “Are all of you here together?”
Joseph conceded with a simple “Yeah.” Given their shared upper–class background and business ties, they all knew each other. “Mind if I chat with Mrs. Foley for a moment?” he asked Yoel.
Yoel looked at Stella.
Stella said, “Dr. Sanders, just call me by my name. Don’t call me Mrs. Foley,”
“I’m used to it,” Joseph said, stepping forward and gently guiding Stella away. “Come on, let me teach you. We can chat while we do it.”
B
And just like that, he pulled Stella away.
As Joseph effortlessly pulled Stella a short distance on the snowboard, he turned to ask, “What’s going on, Stella? Why are you and Brian living separately?”
“He cheated on me, so I cheated on him too, Stella said frankly.
Joseph’s mouth twitched. “Stella, marriage is a serious commitment. There’s no turning back once you
take that step.”
