Chapter 41
Chapter 41
“What’s wrong with this bag?” Yelena asked, looking puzzled. “It’s a nice bag, so why didn’t he like it?”
“He’s just a weirdo,” Stella replied with a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Stella froze after she finished laughing.
She noticed several figures standing outside the office
Dressed in a black shirt and trousers, Brian stood with Jessica and Carrie by his side.
Stella’s face was flushed.
She had just called him a weirdo, and she realized Brian had heard her.
Jessica’s gaze remained fixed on the bag on Stella’s desk. A steely glint in her eyes hinted at unspoken emotions,
“You heard that, Brian?” Carrie asked. “Stella has always thought of you as a weirdo.”
Stella was taken aback. She had just been joking, and she looked at the assistant next to her.
The assistant who ushered them in explained, “Ms. Yates, these ladies claim to know you, and they would like to have a dress custom–made by you.”
Starlight Couture offered a custom–made dress service. However, since the brand wasn’t well–known, there were very few customers.
Stella stood up and said, “Sorry, I was just joking with Yelena.”
After that, she glanced at Brian,
Brian pretended not to see her and turned his gaze away. His gaze was piercing and intense.
Stella saw his expression, and a thought bloomed in her mind. He must have hated her and didn’t want to talk to her anymore..
That was fine. This was what she wanted all along.
“Stella,” Jessica began with a curved smile, “I heard your studio makes custom dresses. I’m hosting a birthday party at the end of the month and would love to order one. Do you think two weeks would be enough time?”
Clad in a flowing chiffon blouse and a hip–hugging skirt, Jessica’s long curls cascaded down her shoulders. She exuded an aura of elegance and beauty
Stella forced a smile and said, “Yes, two weeks is plenty.”
It was rare to have customers come knocking on their door, so they couldn’t possibly turn her down.
“Please follow me to the showroom,” Stella said, leading them downstairs to the designated area.
The three of them followed behind her, chatting as they walked.
Chant: 41
“Opening this studio wasn’t easy for Stella,” Jessica said to Carrie. “If you have any friends who need a dress, please introduce them to her.”
Carrie sneered dismissively. “I think the clothes here are all very ordinary.”
“It’s already difficult enough to start a business. You shouldn’t say that.”
“Don’t bite off more than you can chew. This is just an ordinary studio,” Carrie said sarcastically. “I really don’t know why you came here to order a dress. It’s your birthday, after all. What if something goes wrong with the dress and it looks bad on you? You’d be a laughingstock.”
Unable to contain herself any longer, Yelena was about to turn around and scold both of them. But Stella intervened and pulled her aside. “Yelena, don’t argue with them.”
Yelena snorted. “These two are singing their good cop, bad cop routine, deliberately trying to undermine our studio. I won’t tolerate this humiliation any longer!!
“We can’t afford to offend either of them. One is the Foley family heiress, and the other is Brian’s future wife. You simply have to take it, even if it’s difficult.”
Stella said calmly to Yelena, “The fabric upstairs just arrived from the manufacturer. Go take a look.”
Yelena had a fiery temper, and Stella wanted to get her out of the way before a scene erupted and they both ended up sued.
Don’t be fooled by Jessica’s amiable demeanor. She’s the real two–faced fox.
After dismissing Yelena, Stella entered the showroom. An assistant there greeted Jessica and Carrie,
offering each a glass of warm water.
Brian sat on the sofa, completely ignoring her arrival, as if she were invisible.
“What kind of dress are you looking for Ms. Xenos?” Stella asked, gesturing towards the display cases. They contain sample dresses for your reference.”
Behind Stella, a dozen evening gowns shimmered on glowing glass stands, all looking exquisite.
