Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Stella was caught off guard by the text.
She didn’t expect Sharon to be so efficient. She had managed to arrange a match within a day.
She even sent the person’s contact information over.
Stella immediately added him.
It was just as well. The faster she got this done, the sooner she would be free.
So, she replied to Sharon’s text, saying, “I got it.” Then, she looked through the latest dresses she designed in the studio. She also took the time to apply some makeup.
She had just slung her purse over her shoulder when her phone rang. She flipped her phone over and saw that it was Brian calling.
“Hello?” Stella answered the phone as she walked downstairs. “Can I help you, Mr. Foley?”
She had changed her form of address when it came to Brian.
Brian scrunched his brows upon hearing her answer. “Why are you calling me that?”
“I think it suits you, don’t you?” She fell silent after that retort, waiting for him to speak.
He didn’t disappoint as he asked, “Are you free tonight?”
“Is something the matter?”
“Let’s have dinner together. There was a purse resting on top of the table before him.
This purse was one Stella had wanted terribly. It was a limited edition purse. So, it was worth at least a few million.
He figured he should buy her the purse since she hadn’t been feeling great lately. Her ire should be appeased after receiving it.
“No, thanks.” Stella rejected his invitation. Although she found it weird that he would suddenly ask her out for dinner, she was unwilling to spend any time alone with him. “I’m busy tonight.”
“What could you possibly be busy with tonight?”
From what Brian knew, Stella’s life was rather simple. She would either be at work, or at home.
Also, she only had one friend, Yelena.
Stella simply replied, “I’m just busy.”
She was being deliberately vague with her reply, refusing to tell him anything. Then, she ended the call
just like that.
Brian couldn’t help but frown at her attitude.
Stella swung her car keys and drove straight to Maple Lane. Alas, she got into a car accident when she
a just a few minutes away from her destination
was
She was driving her car when she heard a loud bang. Her car skidded forward due to the impact, causing her arm to bump against the steering wheel painfully.
She even started tearing up once the pain registered in her senses.
She instinctively looked behind her.
The instigators were two brawny men. They were clearly intoxicated. The first thing they did once they got out of their car was to open Stella’s car
Stella was so terrified that she wasted no time locking her doors.
“Get your ass out here! The two were utterly wasted as they rammed against her car,
Her face turned as white as a sheet in the face of their harassment. How could people like this still exist in broad daylight?
She shakily got out her phone and wanted to call the cops.
Alas, her phone rang before she could dial 911. Due to her fright, she instinctively pressed the green answer button. Soon, a melodious voice could be heard
“Ms. Yates, I’ve arrived at Maple Lane. Are you on the way?” To be frank, he had a wonderful voice.
Stella was just about to answer when the two drunks started yelling at the top of their lungs, “You bitch! Get out Don’t you think for a second that I’d be afraid of you just because you’re rich!”
“Who knows how you got that much money in the first place!”
Yoel heard the cussing and asked sternly, “Ms. Yates, are you in trouble?”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Perkins. I got into an accident. These two are probably drunk. They certainly don’t look sober. They’ve been raging at me for a while now. I have to call the cops. I’m afraid I’ll have to cancel on you.”
“Ms. Yates, where are you now?” Yoel inquired.
Stella hastily looked around for a landmark. The two brawny buffoons were still going at it. Soon, she saw that Maple Lane was just nearby.
So, she said, “I’m near the entrance. I’m actually by the convenience store.”
