Stella woke up as soon as she felt herself being lifted up. She glanced at Brian in confusion, her eyes
weary. “Bran, you’re home.” Her voice was so soft and adorable that it could melt one’s heart.
“Why aren’t you sleeping upstairs?” Brian asked, looking at her face, which was flushed with sleep.

was waiting for you to come home for dinner,” she said softly.
Her words stunned Brian for a moment. Then, his gaze softened. “So you fell asleep while waiting for me?”
“Yeah. You didn’t tell me what time you’ll be home.” Stella felt a little embarrassed. “Put me down.”
However, Brian didn’t put her down. Instead, he carried her straight into the kitchen. Her pale and soft feet were dangling, and she wasn’t wearing any shoes.
“Where are your shoes? Brian asked as he put her on the dining chair.
“At the sofa.”
