No Escape From the Ex-husband by Summer Winters

Chapter 91

Chapter 0091

“Okay.”

The speed at which Conrad answered surprised Samantha more.

“I like women like you. The ball is in your court, Ms. Duncan.”

Conrad hung up.

Samantha put her phone down. She deleted her call history before leaving the room.

When she got in the car, Samantha sent a message to Francis.

Kendrick’s eyes were fixed on Samantha’s phone.

“Are you happy that Francis is your boyfriend?”

Kendrick didn’t sound very pleased.

Samantha looked confusedly at Kendrick, not understanding what he meant.

“The women with Francis never get a good ending.”

Kendrick lowered his voice.

Even with his head slightly turned away, Kendrick’s l*ps obviously wore a conceited.

smile.

Everyone knew that the women with Kendrick always obtained advantages.

Sometimes, they even received a huge sum of money.

“At least he treats me very well.”

Samantha turned her head away too.

She was aware that Francis was a dangerous man. Yet, he had never looked

aggressive or fierce in front of her.

“It looks like Francis is very fond of you.”

Kendrick was smiling in the way that Samantha hated the most.

Samantha nodded, not denying it.

Ultimately, Kendrick dropped Samantha off at Cloudtop Villa.

Samantha did not understand the reason for her trip with Kendrick. When she opened the door, she noticed someone who shouldn’t have been there.

Chester was sitting upright on the sofa with his legs crossed. He only looked up

when Samantha entered.

Unlike Francis‘ relaxed demeanor, Chester seemed to make everyone around him

feel slightly oppressed.

“Hello, Mr. Simmons.

Samantha stood in the foyer and politely greeted him. Then, she changed into sl*ppers and walked in.

This was Francis‘ property. Naturally, it would be easy for his father to enter if he

wanted to.

“What is your name?”

Chester picked up the green tea before him.

“My name is Sophia. Are you hungry, Mr. Simmons?”

Samantha removed her coat and walked toward the kitchen.

“I enjoy eating home cooked food.”

Chester raised his eyebrows, then picked up the remote and turned on the TV.

When Francis brought Nathan back, he looked surprised to see both of them at the

dining table.

“Mom! Who is this grandpa?”

Nathan rushed over, carrying his little backpack.

As Chester sized him up, Nathan threw himself into Samantha’s arms.

Samantha immediately felt less gloomy. She embraced Nathan, nuzzling him for a

long time.

“Were you a good boy today, Nate? What do you have to say now that I’m back?”

Nathan mumbled for a while before he looked up.

He said cutely, “Welcome back, Mom.”

Nathan captured Samantha’s full attention. She took him away to brush his teeth.

and wash his hands.

Under Chester’s watchful eye, Francis had no choice but to sit down obediently to

eat.

The only noise that could be heard from the dining table was the laughter and

teasing of Nathan and Samantha. Chester only spoke calmly when they had finished

their meal. Nathan was strolling around his room and singing.

“You are a capable and virtuous woman.”

Samantha pretended that she hadn’t heard anything. She looked directly at Francis.

“However, I would still like to ask you to leave this place and my son.”

Chester’s expression grew cold at once. His kindly expression had stiffened.

“Dad!”

“Alright.”

Both of them spoke simultaneously.

“What did you say?”

Francis‘ expression contorted as he looked at Samantha with wide eyes.

“Mr. Simmons, your son paralyzed my father. I consider that debt repaid over the

last four years. Tomorrow, I’ll leave with Nathan.”

Samantha suppressed the pain in her heart as she said these cruel words with an icy

expression.

She could no longer stay with Francis. Sooner or later, their relationship would put

Francis in danger.

“Debt? You think that the reason I treat you well is because of guilt toward a friend’s

father?”

Francis raised his voice.

He had already looked fragile from looking after his mother in the hospital. Now, he

looked even more frightening.

“That’s what I think.”

Samantha looked up, and their eyes met.

She could not accept any of Francis‘ feelings toward her.

Moreover, she could not stay with him as a friend and impede his progress.

Francis could only watch Samantha ascend the stairs and disappear around the

corner.

For the first time, he felt a deep sadness and pain.

For a long time, he had thought that things would change. Ultimately, Samantha was

still the Samantha she was before.

She was just a woman who prioritized her own feelings.

“Francis, this is the woman that you have feelings for?”

“Dad, I don’t think I need you to worry about my affairs.”

Francis left his father in the living room without a second thought.

Chester could only look resignedly at the hate and anger on his son’s face,

Loving a woman who didn’t love him back would never end well.

Samantha shut herself in her room. She suspected that Chester knew that

something had happened with the exhibition, which was why he had come here.

She sent a short and concise message to Conrad about her plan for the ball the next

day.

They would punish those people from the past one by one.

The glow from her phone dimly lit her face. It was difficult to hide her smile.

“Linda, I ain going to return the suffering I endured bit by bit.”

Then she turned off the phone’s light.

Samantha walked over in the dark to the oil painting. She looked at the twisted face

of the woman on it. The woman looked as though she were shouting in pain.

There was a tiny name on the bottom right corner of the oil painting.

It read Linda Snider.
