Chapter 82
Chapter 0082
The pouring rain soaked the entire land, and outside the window was pitch black. The only sound that could be heard was the pattering of raindrops against the glass.
It was midnight, and Francis was not home. Samantha then glanced at the sleeping. Nathan by her side.
In the midst of the pouring rain, Samantha couldn’t shake off her concerns. She carefully got up and dressed Nathan. She then headed straight to the prepared
exhibition venue.
This exhibition was not only directed at major media outlets but also represented the company’s image. As the exhibition date approached, unexpected issues like
this were always challenging. There was no choice but to deal with them.
Due to traffic jams caused by waterlogging, Samantha was delayed on her way to the venue. It wasn’t until 8:00 am that she arrived at the indoor exhibition site, holding
the still sleepy Nathan.
Helen spotted Samantha as soon as she entered, along with her son. She was taken.
aback.
“Sophia, is this your child?”
“Yeah, my son.”
Samantha nodded, adjusting her collar and gently rubbing Nathan’s cheek to wake.
him up.
“Nate, let’s skip kindergarten. How about staying with Mom here for the day?”
“Okay.”
Nathan grabbed her hand and snuggled in her arms.
He didn’t have to wake up early, and Samantha was by his side today.
Helen widened her eyes in shock. She couldn’t believe that the young Sophia already had a child of this age.
“Sophia, it’s not convenient to bring the kid around. I will keep an eye on him. You
can go and take a look.”
Helen took over Nathan and held him in her arms.
Samantha expressed gratitude to Helen and rushed toward the central area of the
venue.
The indoor exhibition hall, initially designated as a backup space, turned out to be
unsuitable for the current theme. To align it with the design of the product,
extensive modifications were made. However, the unforeseen accident, coupled
with the poorly laid foundation, raised concerns.
Inside, two pillars had already collapsed. It rendered the meticulously arranged
venue useless. In the center, a few solemn–looking men engaged in brief
conversation.
One of them approached Samantha and said, “Ms. Meadows, let us handle this.”
“Handle this? Are you guys here to reverse everything back to normal?”
Samantha pushed them away and walked inside.
The people didn’t know what to do as well.
Samantha glanced at the venue with an icy look. If this had happened on the day of the exhibition, the paparazzi sitting to the side would have been affected.
“Ms. Meadows, we are here on behalf of Mr. Ford to address the issue.”
The man behind once again intercepted Samantha’s gaze.
“To solve the problem, start by explaining to me what happened. I am fully
responsible for this exhibition. In the event of such an accident, shouldn’t you have
reported the situation to me first?”
Samantha pushed aside the man’s hand that blocked her view. She shifted her focus
to the bloodstains near the pillar, which made her pupils contract.
“What happened? Is someone injured?”
Samantha wanted to crouch down to investigate, but the two men behind her had

already taken hold of her arms. They pulled her away.
The leader lowered his voice.
“A staff member was injured, but it was merely minor injuries. It’ll take a few months
to recover.”
Relieved to hear it was minor, Samantha sighed.
“Where is Mr. Ford?”
She shook off the men behind her, running her fingers through her disheveled hair.
“He’s at the company. The media has already been handled.”
Samantha had already left when the person finished speaking. She had left this
absolutely ruined place.
Just as Samantha stepped out, she spotted Helen. She was holding Nathan with a
pained expression.
Nathan was squirming in his embrace, and Samantha had to quicken her pace.
When Nathan spotted Samantha, a relieved smile finally appeared on his face. He
pouted and moved to leap into Samantha’s arms.
Taking Nathan in her arms, Samantha thanked Helen.
She said, “Let’s go back to the office.”
Helen paused, looking at Nathan in Samantha’s arms.
“What about your son?”
“He’s coming with me. You can help me look after him when needed,” Samantha replied, patting Nathan’s back with a gentle look in her eyes.
Helen sighed as she saw the once noisy little troublemaker now peacefully settled in
Samantha’s arms.
Samantha drove to the company. Helen wanted to take the naughty little Nathan
into her care, but she faced some difficulties.
“No! I wanna be with Mommy!”

Nathan started to cry as he clutched the hem of Samantha’s shirt. He refused to let
- go.
After some time, Helen was truly helpless.
“Sophia, why don’t you send him to kindergarten?”
Samantha had no choice as well because she couldn’t allow Nathan to appear in
front of Kendrick. She would not let Kendrick catch on to Nathan’s identity at all.
Then, there was a knock.
Samantha rolled down the window a little.
“Mr. Lawson, is there anything I can help you with?”
“Mr. Ford wants to see you.”
“I need to handle some things first.”
Samantha stepped on the pedal without waiting for Jude to continue. It splashed
some water on him.
Helen stared in amazement at Samantha’s actions, almost treating her like an idol.
After finally dropping Nathan off at the kindergarten, Samantha received a call from
Kendrick.
