NightTide: The Girl With Red Eyes

Chapter NightTide?

We talked for a while, the man was very friendly and it made me feel tingly, that’s the best way I can describe it. I didn’t know how long it had been, at-least it felt like a while so I think it may have been a few hours; then some people walked in and one let out a loud roar like noise.

“BWAAHHHHH MAN I’M TIRED!” The guy said it loudly and I found it rather irritating.

There was another man there he tried to shush his friend. “Dammit man why do you always got to be so loud?”

The loud man replied to him in a snarky manner, it was somewhat entertaining. “Sorry I don’t like being a mouse I prefer to be the lion RAWR!” He had a terrible sense of humor.

They bickered for a bit and I think it started to get to John; He became surprisingly stern in his tone.

“Hey, you two, we have a policy about noise in here!” They both got startled by him, I’m not going to lie, it startled me to.

“Oh! sorry Johnny.” The louder one apologized while the quieter just shook his head in disappointment. John sneered at him. Then the loud one noticed me sitting at the booth... “Oh hey there cutie-BWAH!” Before he could finish his sentence, John jabbed him in the stomach. I don’t know how he moved so fast...

“Whoa there cowboy she’s too young for you!” The guy fell over and his friend walked over laughing. It made me snicker a bit as well. The two kept to themselves for the rest of the time I saw them.

Not much happened after that, some people came through, a couple of them noticed me and seemed to be more interested in looking at my eyes and teeth than talking to me. I was dotted on for a bit which felt nice, I had that tingly feeling again. Eventually I was left alone and they all went about their business.

I eventually started feeling tired, I almost fell of the chair when I had someone tap my shoulder. I turned to see it was the Pathfinder again. He seemed pleased through that expressionless mask.

“Ah sorry about the wait. I have my business done for the day and I can guide you around.” He was very friendly, again. I looked over at John and was greeted with a face of pure shock.

“H-Hello Pathfinder!” He stood at attention confusing the crap out of me at the time.

“Ah, at ease Jonathan this is a personal meeting, this is our first Black Class NightTide...” Black Class? “I’m trying to show her the ropes as everyone else is scrambling about trying to deal with paperwork. Oh, speaking of which Red I have your arm band here.” He reached over to my arm and lifted it up, he slid the band up my arm and pulled a strap that tightened it to my arm... It was pure black, there was a bar code on the underside and the top had a shield with two swords across it; it was rather comfortable.

John butted in with a question for the Pathfinder. “Wait wasn’t that information just classified, I checked her file and I didn’t have access to it?”

The Pathfinder seemed eager to answer his question. “I’ve been spending the past several months getting information about her De-Classified, as two hours ago the file is publicly view able. It shouldn’t be too long before a curious individual finds the new entry for Black Class NightTide.” I had no idea what was being talked about

John asked the Pathfinder, another question. “Sir, may I ask what a Black Class is designated?”

The Pathfinder responded with something interesting. “Unknown, we don’t know her strengths and weaknesses it may just be a placeholder for now or it could stick if she proves to be unique.”

John seemed surprised. “So, she’s that new then. Well Red if you ever need any help I can found here, whenever it’s not busy I can try to show around, I’m sure the Pathfinder’s going to need a break at some point.” John said that with a smile and I heard a small sight of relief come from the Pathfinder.

After a moment of silence, the Pathfinder spoke up rather sternly. “Well then, Red we must be going.” He motioned for me to get up. I followed him out the door, I waved back to John before walking through though.
