NightTide: The Girl With Red Eyes

Chapter Is This Really Who I Am?

I woke up in pain and strapped down to a bed. I had a moment of panic before I heard a voice.

“Hey hey, calm down, can you understand me.” He asked me that like I was an animal and frankly it irritated me, but I replied with a yes. “Good good… oh hey let me get those off you,” He walked over and undid the straps, as each one loosened I felt the pain ease. “Sorry, we had to do something you were clawing and biting at people in your sleep.” There was a long pause when he said something else. “Look I don’t know what you were dreaming about but you shouldn’t tell anyone about it, trust me you won’t like what comes next if you tell anyone.” He finished his sentence with a twisted grin before walking into the corner and fading into darkness.

I had a stinging sensation that wouldn’t go away around my stomach so I lifted my shirt, I saw a lot of small quarter sized bruises, I then noticed they were all over my arms and legs to.

I moved over to the edge of the bed and slowly lowered myself to the floor. When I stepped down it didn’t hurt, surprisingly so. I looked around the room and the first thing that caught my eye was a mirror so I decided to walk over to it. Given how I didn’t know what I looked like the mirror peaked my curiosity. When I got to I took a minute to look. I had very red eyes like the lady said, I was rather small, not tiny, but not anything someone would find intimidating, my hair reached to halfway down my back and it was pure white, nothing off to me until I made a smile in the mirror. Something was very wrong with my teeth, they were just spikes… well I guess way of saying it that I only had canines, but they all interlocked perfectly. I was frozen on that for a good while before had to forcibly stop myself from thinking about it. After putting that aside I looked around the room, there was a bed obviously, a small desk, and a lampshade… that was it. There was also a door and seeing as there was nothing else in the room I walked over to it and touched the handle, in which I was promptly hit in the face with the door as a man and woman in a lab coat walked in. All I heard was “OH SHIT!” before I hit the floor. right after that, I heard two sets of footsteps bolt away. Before I was able recover from the shock I heard another set of steps screaming at them.

“Hey! Get back here you two! God damn I’m too old for this crap.” He ran by quickly enough though, I’m not going to lie, I wanted to know why he was chasing them.

Well putting that aside, I think the door hitting me was their attempt at hiding somewhere and it happen to be my room; either way I stepped a little into the hallway I tried looking around but it was still a bland white hallway. I think I was still in the same room as when I first woke up but I really wasn’t sure. While I didn’t feel very about confident walking around this place I didn’t want to stay in my room. The second I stepped out of my room I felt slightly faint and dizzy, it went away as quickly as it came but I kind of enjoyed the feeling. I took another step forward but I didn’t get the feeling again, to my mild disappointment but I started walking to right. It was weird, I saw a lot of people walking back and forth down the hallway but none of them seemed to pay much attention to me. I got a few short glances but I guess this wasn’t strange to them. This time around I felt safe instead of nervous about my new environment; probably because I didn’t have to follow a man with a gun but still.

Despite the sore feeling I had all over I felt happy being able to walk around on my own, albeit slightly worried I might get into trouble for this but I feel like this would be worth it. I wasn’t sure why I would get into trouble at the time. I mean I didn’t even know where I was and vaguely knew who I was. I’d have to say that the experience was uneventful. Now that wasn’t a bad thing, I didn’t much like being shot at shortly after waking up.

I found a window and felt like staring out of it; I wish I knew what compelled me to do that but I don’t regret the decision. The view was beautiful, the buildings were tall and filled with so many colors, the sun was setting just behind them giving everything a golden hue as well. I looked down towards the ground, there weren’t very many people walking around; I was also able to see that we were high up. Then I heard a voice call me from behind.
