NightTide: The Girl With Red Eyes

It's been several months since I started working with Owen and Kayla, not much has happened, we've had to move around some stuff and occasionally escort someone in a suit around town; I don't like wearing that armor. This time we had to guard a wall for the night shift... it was also the first time I had fight outside of the simulations.

It started off pretty normal though Owen let us know what was going on and Kayla suggested getting our internal clocks adjusted for it. So we stayed up all night and slept during the day, it was hard to stay up the first night but after it got easier. We had to guard section twenty-three of the wall. I guess it has over two-hundred sections so it must be pretty big. We're gonna be doing this for the next month or so.

Kayla woke me up again, it was pitch black out so I figured it was time to get ready. I went to my bathroom and found that the armor we were supposed to wear was on the shelf. I think they get this stuff ready when we're gone cause it's always there in the morning. Either way it looked different then what we wore when escorting someone. It was a long trench coat with a hood, there was black combat boots and pants as well. Oddly enough there was a face plate in there this time, it looked a little like the pathfinders, at-least with it's smoothness it had eye sockets and a opening for me breath. I picked up the coat and found some armor plating underneath it, the stuff was really hard. I put it all on and walked out; it didn't feel as heavy as I thought it would.

Kayla was surprised when I walked out. "Well dam, looks like they finally found a way for you to look intimidating Red."

I stared her for a second and I felt a little insulted. "Hey I thought I could be scary on my own."

Owen laughed and Kayla was snickering behind him. "Red, to someone else you'd be scary we're just too tall. You're almost like a child compared to us." I let out a huff and Owen waved for us follow.

We took the usual route to get outside but there was a transport truck waiting for us. It looked like we weren't the only ones guarding the wall tonight, I saw two other groups of three already sitting in the back. They waved at us then continued on there conversation. Once we got in, the truck gave everyone five minutes and then headed to the section of wall.

When we got there I saw two guys standing in uniform there. We all got out and lined up in front of them. They looked at each of us and the one on the left started passing out weapons. He handed me the same gun I've been given since the first simulations, a Sig 50. They handed Kayla two PK1's, I looked and saw the gave Owen a large shield and an Franchi Spas-12. I was wondering at the time why everyone was being armed to the teeth. After everyone was given a gun they gave us all rip-cords, they said that if we rip it would send the facility into high alert; the cords had two safeties on them so they don't get accidentally pulled. Owen led us to our section.

When we got there he signaled the team that was already there, they all walked out and swapped places with us, one of the guys was pretty relieved he mention something about getting food. They were also armed to the teeth, I guessed they don't take security here lightly.

We got inside and Owen directed us around, he wanted me up top watching the surrounding area since I had the only long ranged weapon. I walked up the stairs to the top and found a pair a googles, I was wondering what they did and put them on. They were night-vision, though I didn't need them I could see just fine. I looked through the binoculars that were up there as well for a while... it was rather peaceful, I could see Owen and Kayla walking back and fourth along the wall, they looked bored.

Owen came up on the radio. "Everything ok up there? you've been pretty quiet."

I replied back after figuring out how to use the thing. "Sorry I didn't know this thing was up here."

He was pretty calm at-least. "Alright, I want you to check in every half hour ok." I replied back with an ok.

I checked in a couple times, we still had a good four hours before sunrise though. That's when I saw something moving around on the wall.

I got on the radio as quickly as I could. "Hey Owen I saw something moving down there, I don't know what it was though."

He grumbled a little. "Alright we'll check it out, come on Kayla."

I watched them through the scope of the gun this time. They went over to the place I saw it at, they didn't see anything. Right when I herd Owen turn on the radio something jumped out, it was standing right in front of him... He didn't react to it, neither was Kayla.

He came over the radio "Hey Red, we don't see anything." I saw the thing start to raise it's arm, that's when I realized it was that wolf thing; the one that girl had.

I couldn't stay calm I screamed over the radio. "GET DOWN!" As soon as they hit the ground I fired at the thing, the bullet went through it's stomach and bounced off the ground into the distance. There was a blood spatter on the ground and I think they saw it now.

Before they could do anything it cried out and started running towards the tower I was at. Then I herd alarms going, I think they ripped there cords. I tried running down the stairs but that thing was already there, It was bleeding; and angry. I tried shooting at it again but it grabbed me and threw me down the steps. I fell all the way down and it jumped on me and tried biting my shoulder, It's teeth didn't get through the armor though.

I herd Owen shouting and the thing tossed me to the side, I hit the wall and couldn't breath, it knocked the air out of me. I was trying to suck in air and I saw Owen run into the room shield first. He collided with that thing and sent it backwards into the wall. I was finally able to breath and I saw him emptying the shotgun into it, Owen backed off to reload his gun and Kayla started shooting it. It wasn't having any of her and knocked her to the side. I stood up and shot at it to, It only seemed to get angry when Me and Kayla shot it, like it was irritated that we were trying to hurt it.

I shouldn't have stopped to think about the situation because before I could react it body slammed me. I went through the wall and couldn't breath again. That's when I noticed I was falling, it knocked me through the wall of the building and off the large wall. I herd Kayla scream and saw that thing was falling with me. It was bearing it's teeth at me, the only thing I could do was shoot at it, there's no way I could take it like Owen did.

It kept getting closer grabbed me. It hit me in the face with its claws and knocked the mask off. It grabbed me, I could see what it was trying to do; it was gonna use me a cushion to try and survive the fall. I had to do something, I wasn't strong enough to do anything with a punch and It had knocked the gun out of my hand as well. I remembered my teeth, It was the only thing I could do and I bit its neck as hard as I could; blood sprayed all over my face and it let out a choking cry. Before I could do anything we hit the ground... I guess I got used as a cushion anyways.

I felt pain all over, I tried screaming but nothing came out. That thing was on top of me, it was dead but it hurt for it to be there.

Then I herd a girls voice, she sounded angry. "You bitch! How dare you kill my pet!" I tried twisting my neck but it wouldn't move, but I saw that girl, she was from when I had first woke up without the bandages, standing on us. "You're gonna pay for that little NightTide!" She lifted the thing off like it didn't weigh anything; she grabbed me by my neck and threw me against the wall. It was the first time I recall ever coughing up blood.
