Chapter 32 ✔
AIDEN
It was my fourth day with the fairies, and I was really starting to miss Jay. The fairies were wonderful, and the people were so much fun, but I needed to be with my mate. There were so many other mates, most were local but there were a few that were from out of town.
Everyone was taken around the same time during their pregnancy, between five weeks and two months. Just before they were able to figure it out for themselves. But there was one person that had been there for months, Jordan. He was almost at his due date.
I was walking through the village greeting the other expecting parents. The fairies weren’t kidding when they said that they meant no harm. We were allowed to roam freely, and we ate a good bit, they even tried to accommodate our crazy cravings.
I was on my way to have tea with Jordan, we had become close since I arrived. Jordan was so kind, he had pale skin with freckles, red hair, and green eyes.
The reason he was there for so long was that he and his mate hadn’t told anyone they were together. His mate could get no help in trying to find him. He told me that his pack was horrible, women were treated like slaves, mate laws were barely respected, and the alpha would kill anyone who disobeyed or disagreed with him.
I smiled as I walked into Jordan’s hut, he had his own since he’d been there the longest. “So, I’ve been thinking.” I started before I even sat down. Jordan smiled and gestured to the spot next to him on the bed. I continued as I sat down next to him. “Why don’t you and your mate come to join my pack? I’m sure that when our mates come for us, yours would be thrilled to be able to stay in a pack where you can be open, right?”
“Of course, Sam would love that. But I’m starting to lose hope. Don’t get me wrong! I trust my mate and I know that he would never give up on me. B-but I also know that he has no help, and he can be a little slow sometimes.” He put his hands on his lap and looked down at them with a wobbly lip. I didn’t want to say it out loud, but I also had fears about his mate. Mates weren’t supposed to be apart for as long as they had. I was worried that Sam was going mad, the only reason Jordan hadn’t, was his pregnancy.
“Jordan. I promise that our mates are coming for us. Now if Sam isn’t with them, I promise that I will do everything in my power to reunite the two of you. You, Sam, and this little bean,” I gently put my hand on his stomach, “are going to live happily and safely in my pack.”
Jordan smiled at me before pulling me into a hug. “How are you such a good person?”
I smiled and returned his hug.
“So, you’ve told me all about Jayvee but is there anyone else waiting for you back home?” He asked while pulling away.
I smiled brightly and nodded. “I found out that there is a little girl bouncing around our pack, she has no one so she’s been going to different families every so often. I don’t know what it was but as soon as I saw her, something clicked in me. It was like I had to protect her and keep her with me. I was going to ask Jay if we could adopt her when I was taken. I just hope she’s safe.”
