Chapter 7
I smiled happily as I opened my front door to see Angus standing there with his own happy smile. He was wearing the same black pants as he always did but had on one of my old hoodies he had stolen during one of our visits. It was from middle school but it still swallowed him, it was adorable. Since it was such an old hoodie, it no longer fit me so I was more than willing to cut wing holes in it so he could wear it.
“Are you ready for our date?” I asked as I held up the picnic basket I had in my hand. He grinned at me and nodded.
“Very, where are we going?” He asked as he began to hover next to me. It was something he did when we walked together, he flew so he could comfortably hold my hand and so he could keep up with me.
“You’ll just have to wait until we get there and see for yourself.” I smiled at him, causing him to laugh.
It didn’t take long for us to get there. It was a field that I had found with my siblings one of the times I snuck out with them without my parents knowing. It was one of the only times we had a good time together while I was growing up.
“Do you like it?” I asked as I walked us to the area I had set up before. I had put a blanket in the middle of the field and had fairy lights spread around on the ground. They made it seem like the area was glowing in the light of the nearly setting sun.
“It’s beautiful,” Angus whispered as he moved forward a little. He turned back to me and floated further up to give me a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you, I love it.”
I smiled and walked us to the blanket. I watched as Angus landed on the blanket and slowly began to snuggle into it, it was one of the super furry ones my parents had gotten me for trading with him. The way he arched into the blanket and stretched made him seem like an animal.
“I hope the food I brought is alright. I made it all myself so I hope you like it.” I smiled as I started to unpack the food. “I packed some fruit as the appetizer, for the main meal I made chicken alfredo, and finally for dessert I brought some candy bark of different kinds a-and some cherry pies.” I blushed as I tried to hide the cherry pies behind some of the other food. I had packed them on a whim but I was starting to regret that decision.
Angus noticed my attempts and quickly moved to grab the pies before I could stop him. He awed as he held them up. “You made them into little hearts,” he cooed happily. “That is so sweet.”
We were silent as we ate our food, but once we were done with the alfredo, we cuddled up together and fed each other fruit.
I smiled as I gently placed a blueberry into Angus’ mouth. My smile grew as he took the fruit but then nuzzled his cheek into my hand. “That’s it,” I mumbled, causing him to look up at me confused.
“What’s it?” He asked after swallowing the blueberry.
“The animal you keep reminding me of. You almost always bend your body toward me when I touch you, you nuzzle into me like one, you even stretch like one sometimes.”
“Like one what?” He asked as he sat up and pouted at me.
“Like a kitten,” I said simply, causing his face to grow bright red.
“I am not like a kitten!” He protested. He tried to get up but before he could I gently grabbed him and pulled him back to me.
“You are,” I said gently as I ran a finger over his cheek. He fought it, but his body moved closer to my finger. “See? You can’t help it, it’s so cute.”
“It’s not,” He whined as he shoved his face into my chest. “I can’t help it, it’s just that I always miss you and when we are finally together I just want as much attention as possible.”
I sighed and wrapped my arms around him, being careful of his wings. “If it makes you uncomfortable I won’t bring it up again. I just think it’s something you do that makes you really cute. I am allowed to see my mate as cute, right?” I asked teasingly. When I said ‘mate’ his head snapped up from my chest.
“S-Say that again,” He asked, his eyes had a weird look to them but I smiled and did as I was told.
“My mate, which you are,” My smile grew as did the look in his eyes. “My mate Angus Hami. My mate the kitten. Mate. Mate. Ma-” I was cut off as Angus tackled me to the ground.
I let out an oof as my body hit the ground, before I could ask what he was doing Angus quickly kissed me. I was surprised but quickly kissed him back. He had never been so passionate before. I gasped as his tongue gently poked my lips and I moaned when our tongues made contact. I had thought that just normal kissing felt good but it was clear to me that I had no idea what good was.
I panted as he pulled away, he looked down at me with red lips. “Care,” I panted heavily as I tried to catch my breath. “Care to explain what that was?”
“I think we should hold off on the mate talk for a little bit.” He smiled.
“Well, can I call you Kitten?” I asked with a smile of my own.
“Not unless you want me to jump you like that again,” He laughed.
“Oh,” I said sadly but then looked up at him through my flashes and smirked. “Kitten.”
