Chapter 72 

Giselle had a blast on Saturday and resumed her homebody routine on Sunday. Luckily, Hymes was there to keep her company, without any complaints. 

The two of them had a cozy and enjoyable weekend together. 

However, Giselle received a rather unpleasant phone call that night.. 

It was from her mother, Marie. Giselle initially wanted to chat with Marie, but soon her other aunt chimed in. “Giselle, how’s your work going? How’s your relationship with your boyfriend? You know that you’re not getting any younger. You shouldn’t waste any more time. Talk to your boyfriend about getting married soon.” 

“Aunt.” Giselle replied, somewhat annoyed, “I’ve told you before. I’ll consider getting married soon.” 

“Well, considering it isn’t enough. You need to act on it. Your mom told me you’re dating a local guy from the city?” 

“Yes” 

Her aunt continued to talk non–stop, “That sounds like a good thing, but you have to think about whether a local person would look down on us small–town folks. What’s their family like? How different are their backgrounds from ours? Will they be satisfied with your family background?” 

Giselle felt irritated by her aunt’s words, but thinking of Hymes, her tone lightened up a bit, “Don’t worry, Aunt. My boyfriend is very happy with me, and he doesn’t have many demands when it comes to marriage.” 

“You better not be fooling me!” Giselle’s aunt warned. 

Her aunt continued in a slightly malicious tone, “People in big cities nowadays are all so calculating and smart. You can’t outsmart them. Just don’t end up being taken advantage of… 

Hearing her aunt’s harsh tone, Giselle’s face turned cold, “Aunt, it’s enough for my mom to worry about these things. She hasn’t said anything about it, so there’s no need for you to get worked up.” 

“What are you talking about? I’m only doing this for your own good. Your mom is too weak. She can’t handle things like this, so I have to step in.” 

In reality, Giselle’s aunt just wanted to compete in everything, even in their children’s marriages. 

Giselle knew what her aunt was really thinking. 

Growing up, Giselle was an excellent student, always praised by teachers and parents, while her aunt’s daughter had average grades and barely managed to get into a vocational school. Her aunt had always been resentful because of this. 

Later, through some connections, her cousin found a contract job in their hometown and was about to get married soon. 

When the time came, Giselle would definitely have to take leave and attend the wedding. 

Even though their relationship wasn’t that great, in a small town, these things mattered a lot. 

One misstep could lead to gossip behind their backs. 

Giselle didn’t care, but her parents still had to live there, and it would ultimately affect them. 

“Aunt, don’t worry. When the time comes, I’ll bring him home, so you can see for yourself if he’s good enough!” Giselle said firmly. 

Marie finally managed to snatch the phone back and after saying a few more words with Giselle, she hung up. 

Giselle pursed her lips, feeling somewhat discontent. 

Although she was already married, she could imagine if she brought Hymes back and his job wasn’t better than her cousin’s husband’s job, and he wasn’t as wealthy…. 

There would definitely be snide remarks and indirect jabs. 

Giselle’s aunt just couldn’t stand seeing others doing better than her, always being harsh and sarcastic. 

But aside from her constant comparisons, Giselle’s aunt was genuinely good to Marie, never letting her suffer any losses, so Giselle couldn’t really complain. 

After much thought, Giselle decided the best solution was to work hard and make her own money, so that when she went. home with a full wallet, no one could look down on her marriage to Hymes. 

Having not streamed for several days, Giselle quickly logged into her account, only to find countless private messages waiting for her. 

What was going on? 

Although some fans had sent her messages before, she had never received this many. 

After reading most of the messages, she realized they were related to her loyal fan, Xeno. 

Since Xeno had never gifted any other streamers, some gossip channels speculated that Xeno was Giselle’s alternative account, sending gifts to herself to attract more attention and trick others into giving her money. 

Giselle watched the video her fans sent her, which defamed her. 

“It’s not uncommon for streamers to send themselves gifts when they don’t have many fans to boost their popularity. it’s normal… But creating a persona where Xeno only loves her? That’s a stretch!” 

“I checked the account’s login location, and it’s in the same city as her, but she claims they’ve never met!” 

“How’s that possible? They’re so close, and I can’t believe someone who’s gifted her so much money would never want to 

meet her!” 

“So, based on this information, Xeno is definitely her alternative account!” 

Many fans and bystanders asked Giselle about this. 

Giselle was speechless, thinking. “What kind of rumor is this?” 

If she had that much money, she wouldn’t even need to stream… 

Giselle’s absence from streaming over the past few days only fueled more defamation, claiming she was running away out of guilt. 

Giselle had never joined any unions or signed with any companies, so she had always been on her own. 

When trouble arose, she had to deal with it herself. 

She took a deep breath and started streaming, knowing that she couldn’t avoid the problem. 

As soon as she went live, a flood of spectators entered her streaming room.

[How vain to use an account to send gifts to yourself!] 

[Why don’t you show your face? Are you afraid no one will watch your stream if they see how ugly you are?] 

[Stop it already. I heard you even used your alternative account to challenge Drago. Be careful not to end up terribly!] 

[I want to see what’s so great about your stream.] 

Giselle’s fans had always believed in her and wanted to defend her, but they were scattered and unorganized, so they couldn’t fight back effectively. 

Soon, the chat was flooded with questioning voices. 

[Why isn’t Xeno here today? Are you feeling guilty and scared?] 

Seeing this message, Giselle hoped Xeno wouldn’t appear to avoid further trouble. 

But Xeno quickly showed up in the streaming room. 

Many people tagged Xeno with questions, while others continued to mock Giselle for using any means necessary to gain 

fame. 

Just as Giselle was about to clarify, Xeno spoke up: [What’s going on?] 

Someone said: [Still pretending? Let’s see how long you can keep this up! If you’re so capable, get on the mic and speak now!]
