Chapter 71
Chapter 71
Their intimate way of talking seemed like a perfect match, which made Rey a bit envious. He thought sarcastically, “What kind of man with no money and no power could marry such a wife? This must be my lucky day!”
“I won’t give you a hard time today. After you lose, just let your wife run a lap with me, and I’ll act like nothing happened.”
After learning about their relationship, Rey actually lost most of his interest. Although he was a bit of a troublemaker, he wouldn’t go as far as stealing someone else’s wife.
However, he was very interested in the race and wanted to know where Hymes got his confidence to compete with him.
Rey’s friends behind him started whispering, “Can he do it? That guy doesn’t look easy to mess with.”
“What’s the big deal? Rey has more experience than him, right? They clearly have never been to this place before!”
“Just now, his wife said it was her first time seeing a race, so don’t worry.”
As they discussed. Hymes put on his gear and walked toward the black and red race car..
Rey also brought out his recently maintained car, which had just been air–shipped back from overseas, and was driving it for
the first time.
As Hymes got in the car, Giselle clenched her fists and shouted, “Go for it!”
Hymes put his index and middle fingers together, gently touching his striking face, signaling Giselle before sitting in the car and putting on his helmet.
In Giselle’s final view, all she could remember were his deep, soul–devouring eyes.
Rey clenched his teeth, feeling a bit jealous. He wanted that kind of masculine charm too… but unfortunately, looks and temperament were often innate. No matter how expensive his clothes were, he could never be like Hymes.
Angrily, Rey thought, “Whatever! I would show him who’s boss on the racetrack and let him know how foolish it was to compete with me!”
The two cars lined up side by side and quickly reached the starting line..
At the signal of the race staff, the flag was waved, and the race officially began.
Rey’s wealthy friends shouted like a bunch of apes, quickly drowning out Giselle’s voice.
But at this moment, the roaring of car engines filled the air, making any cheering seem insignificant.
Giselle could only see Hymes‘ race car speeding away like an arrow, leaving only a trail of taillights.
So fast…
Even just watching from the sidelines, Giselle could feel the adrenaline surging.
At the same time, she was worried about Hymes, fearing an accident.
Amid her nervousness, Hymes‘ car had already overtaken Rey’s and maintained a lead.
Especially after the first turn, when Rey instinctively slowed down, Hymes‘ car drifted smoothly around the bend.
The gap between them widened quickly.
Even Giselle could hear the complaints from Ray’s cheering group sitting besied her, “What’s going on? Is this Ray okay?”
Chapter 71
“Is this the level of the car he just bought from overseas? How come he can’t beat that guy? Is he going to lose?”
Giselle’s mouth curved into a smile, suddenly feeling confident. Hymes said he wouldn’t lose, and she believed he would win.
The lap was completed quickly, and when Hymes‘ car crossed the finish line first, Giselle immediately jumped with excitement, and her face was full of smiles.
Rey’s car couldn’t even catch Hymes‘ exhaust.
Hymes parked the car and got out. Giselle sprinted toward him, almost like a small cannonball, crashing into his arms. “You’re amazing! Did you use to race cars a lot? Rey didn’t stand a chance against you!”
Hymes looked down and smiled gently, softly touching Giselle’s check. “I told you I wouldn’t lose.”
Soon, Rey walked over with a gloomy expression. His cheering squad was now silent.
Hymes cast a cold glance at him. “So, do you want to continue?”
“You!”
Rey threw his helmet to the ground, about to explode with anger, but a racetrack staff member quickly approached him.
“Mr. Collins! Please come with me.”
The staff member took Rey aside and whispered something to him. He looked at Hymes and Giselle, his expression changing rapidly.
After a long while, Rey turned and left.
The other rich kids were stunned, unsure of the situation, but they had no choice but to follow him out the way they had.
come in.
Giselle blinked, puzzled. “What’s going on? Why did they leave so suddenly?”
“They probably realized that losing was embarrassing and couldn’t bear to stick around.”
“You were so cool just now! I regret not recording it! I should’ve kept it as a memento…”
Giselle leaned against him, looking up at his face. Her cheeks flushed like the most delicious peach.
Hymes was tempted to lean in and take a bite.
“It’s alright, as long as you remember it in your heart.”
Hymes gently grasped Giselle’s wrist, pulling her closer into his embrace, creating an intimate atmosphere.
Until the staff member came over and asked, “Do you two want to go for a few more laps?”
Hymes looked at Giselle. “Didn’t you always want to try? Shall I take you?”
“Sure!”
Giselle excitedly got in the car with Hymes, quickly getting the hang of it under Hymes‘ guidance, and started driving laps around the track, gradually picking up speed.
Eventually, she was able to experience the thrill of pushing the accelerator to the floor and letting loose.
When the car stopped again, Giselle was so excited she could hardly speak. It was definitely the most unique and wonderful day she had experienced in a long time.
Hymes waited for Giselle to come back to her senses, then gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and asked softly,
“What do you want to cat tonight?”
“Anything is fine. You decide…” Giselle replied sweetly.
After Hymes and Giselle left the racetrack, the staff member finally let out a sigh of relief.
Although he didn’t know Hymes‘ identity, the person who had called and asked him to take good care of them was the track’s behind–the–scenes owner.
If the staff dared to treat Hymes and Giselle poorly, his job would be on the line.
So he had subtly warned Rey that Hymes was no ordinary person and that he should behave himself, lest he cause hig trouble that he couldn’t handle.
As Hymes and Giselle drove away, another car pulled up at the entrance.
A woman with an elegant figure, wearing high heels, got out of the car.
She stood at the entrance, angrily making a phone call, yelling, “Where are you? You just told me you were at the racetrack! Why didn’t you tell me when you left? Are you playing me, Rey Collins?”
If Giselle looked back at this moment, she would see that this woman was none other than… Nora, her rival whom she had encountered just a few days earlier.
