Chapter 54
Chapter 54
The thought crossed Giselle’s mind for a moment but was quickly suppressed, as she felt that it wasn’t the right time yet.
Although their relationship was progressing steadily, they had spent too little time together, and their understanding of each other was still insufficient.
Furthermore, telling their parents about their marriage would bring about many more troubles to worry about.
At the time of their marriage, Hymes had mentioned that they could keep their relationship a secret for now, only letting their parents know that they had a stable partner.
As for why Hymes‘ parents weren’t urging her to meet them, Giselle didn’t give it much thought, assuming it was the result of communication between Hymes and his parents.
This was a good thing for Giselle, as it meant she didn’t have to take on the various responsibilities of a family too soon.
For instance, having children.
Giselle hadn’t considered this yet and didn’t want to enter that new stage of life too soon.
During her career rise, she hoped to balance family and work, focusing more on her career….
When Giselle went downstairs after her call with Marie, Hymes was on his computer, seemingly dealing with some urgent work matters.
Giselle asked with concern, “Are you still handling work at this hour?”
Even though the financial market turmoil Hymes was monitoring was crucial, he still took the time to answer Giselle’s question, “Yes, there are some urgent tasks to be dealt with.”
After Giselle went upstairs, Hymes received a message from Andy. [The Chicago Exchange opens at 10:30. In today’s futures market, I’ll play big for you. You just need to cooperate with me.]
Andy had always been able to stir up trouble in the markets he was interested in. Although Hymes preferred his role as an angel investor controlling a massive private equity fund, it didn’t mean he wasn’t skilled in trading.
Hymes and Andy worked well together and occasionally making this kind of money was quite enjoyable.
All men would enjoy this silent battle.
The pleasure of fighting on an unseen battlefield could only be understood by those who had experienced it.
Seeing that Hymes would be busy for a while, Giselle decided not to disturb him.
She went back upstairs to rest for a bit before streaming for half an hour before bed.
Before starting her live stream, Giselle received several news alerts on her phone about soybean and corn futures fluctuations. Unfortunately, she didn’t understand finance, so she only glanced at them briefly without giving it much thought.
When Giselle started her live stream, her fans immediately joined her stream.
However, today was different from usual, as Xeno was not there.
Since Xeno had started visiting Giselle’s live stream, he had appeared almost every time, only missing a few when he seemed to be busy with important work.
Giselle felt a bit uneasy without Xeno in her stream, but the show must go on.
Chapter 54
Her fans didn’t see Xeno and started asking: [Where’s Xeno today?]
[Xeno’s not here to support Gill?]
[Wow, no Xeno today! Where did he go? Does Gill know?]
Giselle answered softly. “I don’t know. He must be busy with his own stuff.
Someone in the stream teased: [You’re so heartless! You don’t even care about your wealthy fan? He’s not here, even ask!]
and
you don’t
This account was new, so Giselle ignored it and started chatting with her fans, “What do you guys want to hear today?”
[If I were Xeno, I wouldn’t waste my time in your live stream, sending you so many gifts, and yet you treat him with this attitude!]
This new account seemed quite provocative, as if trying to stir up trouble between Giselle and Xeno.
Before Giselle could respond, her fans stepped in: [Mind your own business! Xeno is happy to do it!]
[Gill isn’t like other streamers. This is an ASMR Livestream. She doesn’t need to showcase her talents! It’s mainly for helping us sleep, okay?]
[How do you know Xeno isn’t happy? Maybe all he wants is to hear Gill’s soothing voice to help him sleep!]
Giselle intervened, “Alright, let’s not argue. It’s getting late. Everyone, put your phones down and listen quietly as I read today’s poetry collection…”
Seeing that the provocation was unsuccessful, that account disappeared, and Xeno didn’t show up until the live stream ended.
Giselle knew that maybe Xeno couldn’t appear today due to work, or perhaps he might never appear again.
There was a slight regret in her heart, but she wouldn’t do anything about it, as that person suggested.
Xeno’s presence in her live stream was a matter of fate, and if he didn’t come again, that would mean their connection had reached its end. Xeno never forced anything.
After turning off her phone, Giselle went to bed.
Downstairs.
At 2:15 am, the futures trading halted temporarily, and Hymes finished his battle. He saw their results for the day from the data Andy sent.
They made several hundred million dollars, forcing many futures accounts that tried to compete with them to liquidate. achieving a complete victory.
Andy boasted in their group chat: [With this money, I can buy a new private jet and the yacht I saw last month. Oh, and I also like that small island in the Pacific!]
Hymes replied coldly: [I’ll take the island in the Pacific.]
Andy asked: [Hymes! What do you need the island for?]
Hymes replied: [Honeymoon.]
Andy said: [Fine, you’re taking advantage of me because I’m single, right?]
Hymes said: [You can use it anytime you want after the honeymoon. You’ll still save a lot of money.]
Andy, the penny–pincher, immediately agreed: [Alright, it’s yours now!]
Hymes smirked, glanced at the time displayed on his computer, and his smile froze.
Damn it!
He cursed. He was so caught up in the deal that he forgot about the most important daily event!
When Giselle woke up, Hymes had already prepared breakfast and seemed to have just returned from exercising outside. He was wearing a simple T–shirt and athletic shorts.
His arm muscles were striking, and a bead of sweat on his jawline was incredibly alluring.
Giselle gulped, feeling dizzy from the strong hormonal surge.
Hymes, seemingly oblivious to his overwhelming presence, approached Giselle, leaned down, and stared at her intently.
Giselle’s heart raced, her face flushed, and she nervously asked, “W–What are you doing?”
With a hint of a smile in his deep eyes, Hymes said, “You… have something here.”
As he spoke, his finger touched the corner of Giselle’s lips.
