Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Giselle’s smile faded away. “Mickey, what do you want?”
Mickey, smartly dressed, said in a stagy tone, “We’re here for a date, but we didn’t expect to run into you. Don’t misunderstand us.”
Jenny glanced at the surroundings and said, “Yeah, Giselle. We didn’t know you can afford to eat in such a fancy restaurant. You might spend half of your monthly salary on a single meal.”
Giselle was very annoyed. Mickey smiled pretentiously at Hymes and said, “Hello, we’re Giselle’s colleagues. It’s such a coincidence. Do you mind a bit of chatting?”
His attitude made Giselle rise to her feet in anger. “Mickey, I’m warning you, stay away from me! Or I’ll call the police!”
Jenny bit her lip and said, “Giselle, is this restaurant yours? We’re just customers, Why do you want to call the police?”
Giselle knew Mickey and Jenny came to jeer at her on purpose. She felt very aggrieved because she couldn’t throw a tantrum at them.
Seeing that Giselle fell silent, a trace of evilness flashed across Jenny’s eyes.
Jenny incited Mickey to follow Giselle to find out whether Giselle had lied about her marriage.
However…
When Jenny saw the man sitting opposite Giselle, her wicked jealousy devoured her sanity again.
“Gigi,” At this moment, Hymes slowly stood up and pacified Giselle softly. “It’s okay. I don’t mind chatting with them.”
Giselle was stunned and somehow felt touched.
She thought she had to handle everything by herself and almost forgot that she was no longer alone.
She was married, and she had a husband.
Hymes remained calm and smiled faintly, then reached out toward Mickey. “Hello, I’m Gigi’s husband. My name is Hymes Giles.”
“Hello, I’m Giselle’s ex–boyfriend.”
Mickey said so on purpose.
He felt his dignity had been crushed. Hymes seemed very calm, but Mickey felt he had been overwhelmed by Hymes presence.
Realizing that Giselle’s husband was much better than he was, Mickey couldn’t be more furious.
Mickey couldn’t believe that Giselle actually married a good–looking local shortly after he had dumped her.
Besides, Mickey believed that most men couldn’t restrain their temper when their partners‘ exes came over to provoke them.
He was expecting Hymes to lose his temper.
However, Hymes looked at Giselle gently and said, “I have to thank you, Mr. Blake. If you hadn’t dumped her, I wouldn’t have the chance to marry Gigi
Mickey failed to see what he had expected and became speechless.
He felt annoyed as if a fly had just flown into his mouth.
Then, driven by his rage, Mickey said viciously again, “You two got married after knowing each other for a few days! That’s quite a rush. Did Giselle force you to marry her?”
Facing Mickey’s aggressive question, Hymes kept remaining calm. “We’ve been quite busy recently. When we’re free, we’ll hold a wedding. By then, we will also invite you and your girlfriend.”
Mickey gritted his teeth and shook Hymes‘ hand. “Sure. If that really happens, I’ll definitely prepare a great wedding gift for my ex!”
Hymes shook hands with Mickey, who tightened his grip forcefully, wanting to teach Hymes a lesson.
However, Mickey failed.
As if Hymes‘ hand was made of iron, Mickey couldn’t hurt him no matter how hard he tried. On the contrary, Mickey was tortured by Hymes‘ firm grip, which almost crushed his bones…
Mickey’s face darkened. The veins extruded from the back of his hand, making it tremble uncontrollably.
A layer of cold sweat also emerged on his forehead.
The piercing pain almost made Mickey beg for mercy, and his eyes were full of horror.
But at this moment, Hymes let go of Mickey’s hand.

Mickey gasped, and his face turned pale. In order to save his dignity, he pretended to be concerned and asked, “So, Mr. Giles, what do you do for a living? Maybe we’ll have some business contacts in the future.”
Mickey gave his business card to Hymes, feeling proud about his position as the director of the commercial department..
Mickey thought he had a bright future because he had become the director at such a young age. Besides, his girlfriend was Jenny, whose family resources would greatly help his career.
Hymes was about to speak, but Giselle was faster. “His job is none of your business. Get lost!”
Jenny noticed something and pretended innocent, asking, “Why didn’t you let him speak? Do you think it will be awkward to say it out loud? Mickey only wants to help…”
It seemed that Jenny was indeed good at sowing discord.
In fact, Giselle never thought that Hymes‘ job was too awkward to mention.
However, she knew that Mickey was too arrogant. He would definitely laugh at Hymes if he learned that Hymes was just a salesperson.
But seeing that Hymes didn’t mind, Giselle said directly, “My husband works in an insurance company. He makes a living by working hard. How is that awkward? I just don’t want to tell you because both of you are snobs!”
“Oh, so you’re an insurance salesperson. It’s a nice job, actually. Your appearance and figure are very suitable for this job.”
Mickey finally felt more confident by hinting that Hymes‘ handsome appearance was more helpful than his ability.
Jenny also said meaningfully. “That’s right! It’s probably why Giselle picked him to be her husband. Besides, Mr. Giles is a local, which should also be a very important reason.
“Giselle, I’m sure your husband will often see us in the future. Mickey will soon become a shareholder of the company, and I’m sure he will need to buy commercial insurance.”
Jenny smiled even more smugly and continued, “As long as your husband’s business is legal, we will definitely become his clients!”
“So what if Mickey becomes a shareholder?” Giselle scolded in her heart and instantly started to fight back.
She held Hymes‘ arm and said cheerfully, “That’s great! I suggest you buy yourselves personal accident and critical illness insurance. Just in case, you
know.”
Her words made Mickey grit his teeth. “Giselle, you’ve gone too far!”
Giselle put away her smile and scolded, “How dare you say that! You’re nothing but a cheating scumbag!”
Mickey said, “Don’t you know why I dumped you? We dated for a year, but you never agreed to sleep with me. I had never cheated on you before! started dating Jenny! What else do you expect?”
Giselle was a bit old–fashioned about relationships. She couldn’t accept having sex before getting married.
However, she had informed Mickey about how conservative she was before she started dating him.
By then, Mickey was crazily in love with Giselle and insisted that he didn’t care. He said he would take it slow and never urge her to sleep with him until they married.
However, Mickey cheated on Giselle after only a year.
And now, he was blaming her for being old–fashioned.
Giselle couldn’t believe how stupid she had been. She actually chose to date such a bastard.
Hymes sat beside her, and his eyes darkened when he heard what Mickey had said.
“They never had sex?” Hymes thought.
The emotions rippled in Hymes‘ eyes, and he almost failed to hold back his smile.
Giselle didn’t notice Hymes‘ expression and forced a smile. “Then I wish you a happily ever after relationship. After all, you probably couldn’t find a second waste collector like Jenny”
Mickey angrily snapped, “Don’t ever believe that this man could treat you well. I’m looking forward to you being dumped by him, just like when I dumped you!”
Mickey tore off his fake politeness and held Jenny’s waist while scolding Giselle. Then, he said to Jenny, “Honey, don’t worry. You’re the love of my life!”
Jenny smiled and said, “Oh, Mickey. You’re so sweet…”
